Hello lovelies! Not only is it one of my favourite days of the week — Swatch Sunday — but even more exciting… the Holiday nail polish collections have started popping up! & Sally Hansen Canada, bring the sweethearts that they are, sent me their brand new Holiday 2019 Oh My Gold! Collection.
The Oh My Gold! Collection is a limited edition collection consisting of 3 gold polishes — one metallic gold with chunky Holo glitter (Goldie Rocks), one dense gold glitter (Good as Gold) in a clear base & finally a sheer gold base with a scattered holo glitter (Five Golden Blings).
& now onto the swatches!
Goldie Rocks
.
2 coats + Top Coat (Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat)
First up, we have Goldie Rocks which is a gold shimmer base with these amazing chunky glitters that are Holo. We love a good holo! Looking at the bottle, I was a little scared the holo glitters would get lost in the bottle but the polish actually applied really well for a dense scattering of glitter. I did two coats for my swatches, but I think it needs a third for the gold to really pop, as the base is quite sheer. Also I’m really curious to see what this polish would look like sponged on, but I am apparently out of make up sponges right now.
& a macro shot to see the holo up close:
Good As Gold
.
1 coat over Sally Hansen MG Frosted Berries (pinky, middle, pointer) + Top Coat & 3 coats over naked nail + Top Coat (ring)
Does anyone else watch Vanderpump Rules? Then you know why I laughed when I saw the name of this polish haha. For those who don’t watch Vanderpump Rules then you need to click here… you’re welcome! Now back to the polish!
Good As Gold is a super densely packed gold glitter in a clear base. It can be used as a topper over another polish or built up on it’s own (although, again, I’d say that using a make up sponge would work best & faster.) The glitter is super densely packed into its base, which I love. It puts a nice little sparkle over another base & really sparkles on its own as well. I can’t wait to do a glitter gradient with this shade!
& of course, a macro shot:
Five Golden Blings
.
1 coat over Sally Hansen MG Garnish Attention (pinky, middle, pointer) + Top Coat & 3 coats over naked nail + Top Coat (ring)
Can we just talk about how GORGEOUS this polish is? It reminds me a lot of last years limited edition shade Make it N-ice which was a silvery version… & since I’m obsessed with that shade, I was so so so so excited for a gold ✨ version. The base is a very, very sheer gold which is very densely packed with scattered holo micro glitters. I obviously wanted to show it on its own, which I did on my ring finger but I also gave it as an example layered over another polish. Normally I wouldn’t wear something so sheer on its own, but I like it. Truthfully though, I can see myself using this over another lighter base (nude or gold) to give it a scattered holo shimmer.
& one last macro shot:
Over all, I’m absolutely loving this collection. Gold is such a classic choice for Christmas/New Years & any holiday parties you might be attending. I think Sally Hansen did an amazing job coming up with 3 unique gold polishes for any needs you might have this holiday season! Need some pretty gold nails? Throw on 3 coats of Goldie Rocks. Dreaming of the perfect glitter gradient, sponge on Good As Gold. & just coat every manicure in Five Golden Blings.
The Sally Hansen Oh My Gold! Collection is going to be available as of November 15th, retailing around $11.95 CAD each. I will say, though, I have already seen the advertising at my local Walmart… so you may be able to find the polishes already.
