SWATCH SUNDAY— Revlon Unicornicopia

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! It’s a beautiful sunny Sunday here which only means one thing — let’s wear some holo. I was digging through my nail polish stash for this week’s Swatch Sunday, & decided to take a peek into my Revlon stash. There was a few polishes in there I’ve realized I bought, but never worn, but the one that really caught my eye was Revlon Unicornicopia.

3 coats, no top coat.

Revlon Unicornicopia is a beautiful liner holographic lavender that was originally released in 2017. The formula is a bit thin — I needed 3 coats for full coverage — but I found it dries quickly. I had no issues with the coats pulling when you apply another, something which I’ve found with other holographic shades.

The sparkle is quite pretty, & I like the pale lavender shade it has. It’s almost pastel, which obviously makes me feel Spring vibes (yes… still). We still be digging out from a big snowstorm on Friday, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still be dreaming of Spring.

& obviously I needed to show off a sun shot of this holo. The liner holo definitely shows up better in the sunshine than under my daylight bulb with camera flash. Both are gorgeous though! & I’m really glad I finally pulled this shade out. It deserves its day in the sun.

What do you think about Revlon Unicornicopia? Do you love this beautiful lavender holo as much as I do? Do you have any of the Revlon Holochromes in your stash? Let me know in the comments below!

Have a lovely Sunday!

Easy Galaxy Nails ( With Magnetic Polish)

Hello beauties & happy Thursday! We’re almost one full week into 2023 & its kind go crazy to think about. & it actually looks like Winter today, which I think is the first real snowfall we’ve had so far that wasn’t more than a dusting. Now if only it could have come like 2 weeks ago before Christmas, haha.

Today we’ve got our second nail art look of the year.

I’ve recently been going through my stash, looking at old shades I haven’t touched in a while. We all know magnetic polishes are having a serious moment right now on Instagram, so I decided to pull out one of my old school magnetic shades from China Glaze to test it out with the Starrily magnetic I got from NailStuff.ca & see what kind of effect it would have on it. & from that, I realized how perfectly it would be as a base for a galaxy design! So here are my super easy magnetic galaxy nails!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
  • China Glaze Magnetix Instant Chemsitry
  • China Glaze Fairy Dust
  • China Glaze Public Relations
  • Starrily Magnet (C/o: Nailstuff.ca)
  • NailStuff.ca Mermaid Tail Nail Brush Trio (11mm Liner Brush)

Originally my plan was just to wear the shade on its own, as I loved the effect the magnet had on it. But then I was like “I wonder what Fairy Dust would look over this?” From there I realized how much it looked like a galaxy, so I added a few dark silver stars.

Instant galaxy.

These are definitely the easiest galaxy nails I’ve ever created, & definitely the least time consuming. This is definitely making me want to go through all the magnetic polishes I’ve collected over the years & test them out with the Starrily magnet to see what it creates. The old magnets that came with these shades usually created patterns, but I’m much more fond of this like way.

What do you think about this easy galaxy design? Is this a look you could see yourself recreating? Let me know if this look is one making you want to dig out your own magnetic polishes, or any other thoughts you have down in the comments below!

Glam Nails Challenge December—Fireworks 🎆

Good morning lovelies & happy Wednesday! I can barely believe it, but it is the last prompt of Glam Nails Challenge December! We’ve made it to the end. Which means.. it’s almost the end of December… & the end of 2022! So let’s celebrate with something fun.

Today’s prompt is Fireworks! I was inspired by a previous design I did with the same prompt, but decided to go with a blue/silvery colour theme. Giving me all the New Years Eve vibes.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-chip Top Coat
  • China Glaze New Year, New Boo
  • China Glaze December to Remember
  • China Glaze Blue Iguana
  • China Glaze 2NITE
  • China Glaze Dancing & Prancing
  • NailStuff.ca Mermaid Tail Nail Brush Trio (11mm Liner Brush)

Not going to lie, these nails are giving me some Snow Queen/Elsa vibes on top of fireworks. Definitely the blue on blue on blue. Could also be the fact my 3 year old spent most of Christmas running around the house scream singing “Let It Go” at the top of her lungs. Haha.

It definitely took some serious layering to get this design to look the way I imagined in my head, but with the combination of colours & glitter, it really gives you the effect of watching Fireworks explode in the sky. I love them.

What do you think about this Fireworks inspired design? Are you all ready for this year to be over? It’s definitely been an interesting year, full of a lot of change, so I’m interested (& hopeful) to see what 2023 will bring! Hopefully nothing but good things.

Thanks for following around with another month of Glam Nails Challenge! I had so much fun this month, & it was a great way to end the year. Don’t forget, all the designs for this month can be found on the Glam Nails Challenge December hashtag on Instagram.

Dainty Present Accent Nail Art 🎁

Hello beauties & happy Friday! Can you believe we’re just a little over a week before Christmas? Where has the time gone?! We have less than 0 snow which means it doesn’t really feel like Christmas or, even, December here. But I’m hoping for a Christmas miracle, & a little bit of snow for the holiday.

Today though I have a cute Christmas design to share with you that I’ve been wearing for the last few days. I recently took a trip to the Chatters by my new work, looking for nail polish. While they don’t quite have the stash they used to have, I did find a couple cute shades including a mini bottle of OPI Green on the Runway from the 2014 Coca-Cola collection. I thought it would be a fun non-traditional Christmas colour choice.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-chip Top Coat
  • Starrily Vantablack (c/o: NailStuff.ca)
  • OPI Green on the Runway
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Make It N-Ice
  • China Glaze Sleigh Bells Ring
  • NailStuff.ca Mermaid Tail Nail Brush Trio (11mm Liner Brush)

I really wanted to see how Green on the Runway would look layered over black, & I like it! Obviously, I had to had some sparkle, & Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Make It N-Ice is a great topper! It adds just the right amount of sparkle to this design. It’s Christmas, so sparkle is almost mandatory!

Also I love how my teeny little bow turned out. Sometimes all you need is just a little accent nail, & I feel like this was the perfect combination of colour, with a little bit extra holiday added. It makes me so happy! My slightly dry cuticles thanks to freezing temperatures? Not so happy. But hopefully Santa has a big tin of Burt’s Bees cuticle balm for my stocking this year.

What do you think of this dainty accent nail, & colour combination? Are you a fan of simple of fancy holiday designs? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below! Just 8 more days until Christmas Eve, so now is the time to get the rest of my Christmas nails finalized.

Have a fantastic Friday!

SWATCH SUNDAY — China Glaze Ugly Sweater Party

Hello my loves & Happy Sunday! This is the second Sunday of December, so I’m keeping with the Christmas-ish polish tradition, & trying to share shades that are related in some way to the holiday!

This past week I did a poll on my Instagram asking if people would rather see China Glaze Ugly Sweater Party (Holiday 2015) or OPI Bring Out The Big Gems (Holiday 2022) this week, & with an overwhelming majority, Ugly Sweater Party was the winner!

2 coats, No Top Coat

China Glaze Ugly Sweater Party is a pink jelly formula, packed tightly with an assortment of glitters, including holographic. The formula is a tad on the thick side, but with a little bit of patience, I easily covered my whole nail in two coats. You could probably sponge on the glitter for a denser packed glitter effect, but I much prefer it applied this way as I like the overall finish.

Truthfully, I don’t know if I can remember ever wearing this shade as a full manicure like this before. I originally bought the polish because I loved the name, & glitter is my weakness, but I think I’ve truthfully only used it in glitter gradients, or maybe as a single accent nail, which makes me sad.

I was also surprised I had never swatched this shade previous Decembers, so I was happy. to do both for todays post! This is definitely a fun glitter shade, & just screams Christmas party to me! My Christmas party days are long behind me, but to be honest if I were every invited to one — & didn’t have time for a full nail art look — this would be my #1 polish pick for such an occasion.

Do you remember China Glaze Ugly Sweater Party from its original 2015 release? Did you have this sparkly shade in your stash, or do you still have this glitter on rotation? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!
