SWATCH SUNDAY — Essie x Révolutionnaire Expressie Collection

Features Gifted Product in Exchange for Content

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! I’m super excited to share some beautiful PR I received recently! As I mentioned in this post, this collection is a collaboration between Essie & Révolutionnaire.co, a brand & platform committed to celebrating diversity and inclusivity, and fighting for social justice.

The two gave teamed up with Essie for a beautiful collection of Expressie shades — Take the Espresso, Cold Brew Crew, Buns Up, Millennium Momentum, Daily Grind, & Always Transparent. This was my first experience with the Expressie line, which is an 8-free, vegan formula, formulated without any nasty ingredients that can sometimes be found in nail polishes.

So let’s look at some Swatches!

Essie x Révolutionnaire — Expressie Daily Grind

2 coats topped with Expressie Always Transparent

This colour is a lovely eggshell neutral. I used two coats for my nails & topped everything with the clear that is part of the collection— Always Transparent. The shade applies quick smoothly, & I did find that the dry time was speedier than other polishes.

Essie x Révolutionnaire — Expressie Millennium Momentum

2 coats topped with Expressie Always Transparent

Next up, we have another lovely neutral shade — Millennium Momentum. This one is a bit darker than Daily Grind. Again, application was smooth, with minimal patchiness.

Essie x Révolutionnaire — Expressie Buns Up

3 coats topped with Expressie Always Transparent

Next up we have probably my favourite of the collection — Buns Up. This shade was slightly more on the sheer side, but I love what three coats built up to. This, topped with a bit of scattered holo glitter, is a “naked” nail look I could see myself wearing if I needed a neutral manicure. Again, formula was very nice & easy to work with.

Essie x Révolutionnaire — Expressie Cold Brew Crew

2 coats topped with Expressie Always Transparent

Next up, we have a bit of a darker caramel shade, with is Cold Brew Crew. I don’t think I mentioned this yet, but I absolutely love how all these shades have a bit of a coffee theme going on — I’m a coffee snob/part-time barista, so I love anything coffee related. This shade is probably my second favourite of the collection, & the application was pretty flawless.

Essie x Révolutionnaire — Expressie Take the Espresso

2 coats topped with Expressie Always Transparent

Last up, we have the darkest shade of the collection Take the Espresso. & this name definitely fits this shade, with it’s beautiful dark chestnut colour. This beautiful dark brown flawlessly applied, & even before adding Always Transparent. This is 100% a shade I will be wearing again & again in the Fall.

So that’s the Essie x Révolutionnaire Expressie Collection! As you can see, I didn’t include swatches of Always Transparent on my nails–mostly because with how stained they are, I didn’t think it would benefit the polish–but I did use it to top each one of my swatches to add some extra shine. & I felt like that was a more realistic idea of how I was going to use the polish.

You can currently find the full collection to purchase via their website — as well as at your local Shoppers Drug Mart. I also definitely recommend checking out their message, as I love the message about inclusion they’re conveying through their platform.
