FASHION FRIDAY — Revisiting My Prom Dresses

Hello lovelies! Today I have another edition of Fashion Friday, featuring a bit of a throwback. I had so much fun with my previous try-on post, so I thought it would be really fun to do a similar post, but this time trying on my old prom dresses!

I actually went to prom three times — my own, with one of my best friends, & then to my high school boyfriends. & each time, I wore a completely different dress in a completely different style! I was never a huge fan of the traditional princess-y prom dress, so I’ve never worn one. It’s just not my style.

So let’s take a look!

First up, we have my original prom dress for my own prom circa 2004. (Picture is from when I rewore it for my Mom’s 50th birthday in 2009).

This dress was found at Le Chateau (RIP), I do believe, & I loved it for its beautiful layered lace, & the little bit spicy neckline & back. The dress reminded me of a flamingo dancer, & I remember I had these black heels that also had lace on them so they matched the dress perfectly. Also I’m pretty sure this dress was only like $80, which is a steal for a prom dress! I kind of would love to wear this dress again, although I have no idea where I would wear it!

Next up, we have this dress I wore to my best friend’s prom in 2006.

This dress was purchased for $10 at a vintage store, long before I had an excuse to wear it. My whole prom look was inspired by this red carpet look that Mary Kate Olsen wore in 2004, & I have no shame in admitting that haha. I also almost wore this dress to get married, until I found my dream wedding dress. It’s still probably one of my all time favourite dresses of all time, & I will never ever part with it. In fact, I’m always looking for a reason to wear it again.

Last but not least, we have this silky turquoise dress that I wore to my high school ex-boyfriend’s prom in 2007.

Again, this was another thrift find — I scored it for $17 at the same store as the above white lace dress, only this one still had the original tags on it for $170. I’ve always loved a good deal. This is probably the most Prom-y dress I wore of the three, & I loved the old school vintage vibes that it gave me. I’ve actually worn this dress a few times for “dress up”, most recently for Halloween last year.

What do you think about my old prom dresses? Have you ever tried on old clothes from the past like a prom dress?

Let me know what you think of these posts, & more Fashion Friday themes you would like to see!
