FASHION FRIDAY — Preppy OOTD

Details: Dreamers brand Oversized Sweater Dress (purchased at Winners). Ardene Polka Dot Blouse. Ardene Distressed Jeans. Ardene Combat Boots.

Hello lovelies & Happy Friday!

It’s been absolute ages since I put up a Fashion Friday post, so I thought a quick OOTD post would be fun. I recently went through & organized my closet (again!), so it’s been making me want to wear all the clothes I haven’t grabbed in a while. Like this cute polka dot blouse! It’s super old — pretty sure I first bought it in 2012-ish — & I haven’t grabbed it to wear in longer than I can remember! I would have loved to wear this outfit as a dress instead of with jeans, but when it’s -13 degrees outside, you have to make some adjustments.

Mostly that entails 3 pairs of tights under my jeans, & a lot of layers. Have I mentioned I miss Summer?

Have do you show off your personal style during the Winter months? Do you have any tricks for feeling cute without freezing? Tell me all your secrecy’s, & let me know what you think of this OOTD.

FASHION FRIDAY — What I’ve Been Wearing Lately (Fall Edition)

Hello lovelies & Happy Friday. It’s been a while since I posted a Fashion Friday post, which is a shame because I feel like Autumn is when my style really shines. I’m a girl about layers, & Fall is when I really come alive!

We’ve been changing rooms around at home, among other craziness, so I haven’t done a dedicated OOTD post, but I thought it could be fun to do a snapshot of what my Fall wardrobe has looked like so far this September. I definitely have plans to do a favourite Fall clothing item post coming up too!

FASHION FRIDAY — How I Keep My Clothing Organized

Hello lovelies & happy Friday! It’s been a while since my last Fashion Friday post! Today I have a bit of a different post for me — I wanted to give a little insight into how I keep my closet organized.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I own a lot of clothing. & therefore, I’ve always made sure to put effort into keeping things organized! In fact, I started my closet organizing obsession in my teenage years, making sure everything was categorized by type, colour, & even sometimes season! While this doesn’t mean I don’t ever end up with a messy room–I’m a busy girl–it definitely helps keep at least my clean clothing somewhat organized which can make getting dressed in the morning that much easier.

Organize by Colour

One thing I’ve always tried to do is organize my clothes by colour order; pink with pink, red with red, blue with blue. Over the years, I’ve upped that by organizing from shortest sleeve to longest sleeve, which makes things even easier. Not only does it make my clothes look more visibly appealing, but it does save on time. If I’m looking for a particular blue shirt, I know exactly where in my closet I need to look.

Organize by Style

Another thing I’ve always tried to do with my closet, no matter the size, is group all different like-styles together. This means all my dresses are organized with my dresses, shirts with shirts, cardigans with cardigans. Again, it makes it a bit easier when getting dressed because I know exactly where to go to find what I’m looking for.

Rotate by Season

So something I try to do twice a year is rotate my closet. This means, in the Spring I’ll rework my closet & push my cardigans & sweaters towards the back, & bring my kimonos & Spring jackets towards the front. I repeat this process in the Winter, basically flipping it again. Not only does this give me access to the clothes I wear more frequently, but I have the opportunity to go through & purge anything I’m not really wearing (or rediscover clothing maybe I’ve forgotten about!)

Take Advantage of Storage

So finally, one thing that I really find important for my closet is taking advantage of storage. I have a lot of clothing… I’m not joking. & not everything hangs easily in my closet. So I take advantage of all the storage I can. Everything is organized where I can put it, including at the top of my closet, the built in storage in the middle, & in bins under my bed. When I moved into my first apartment years ago, I didn’t have the room I do now, so I started storing clothes in under the bed bins, & it makes life so much easier. Plus, you can just slip your comforter over the side the bed, & no one even knows they’re there! A great idea for small spaces, or someone like me who has a lot of clothing to put away!

& that’s a little insight into my closet! Do you have any tips on how you keep things organized? Let me know down in the comments below!

FASHION FRIDAY — Coffee Shop OOTD

Hello lovelies & happy Friday! Also happy second edition of my new feature, Fashion Friday.

I was so happy to see people embracing my new content direction as this is something I’ve really been debating doing for a few years now, but was honestly scared to start. I have so many fun ideas I can’t wait to share with you guys coming up! & please don’t hesitate to share anything you’d like to see me cover. I’m really hoping for this Friday feature to be a really approachable look at Fashion, & a lot of what I share is you going to be me delving into my own closet & the items I own & love. I have this sentimental attachment to clothing (& the memories associated) that I hope you guys will enjoy reading about as much as I love writing about.

First up though, how about a good old fashioned outfit of the day!

Moneau Pineapple Summer Dress. Danier black turtleneck sweater. Not Pictured: Black tights. Nine West Deep green knee high boots.

Okay, so I love dresses. Like REALLY love dresses. From May to October, you can rarely catch me wearing pants. But being that it’s the middle of January in Canada, it’s not so easy for me to just throw on a dress. However, lately when I’m not in the mood for another day of jeans & sweaters, I’ve really been into laying long sleeves & thinner sweaters under my favourite dresses (along with a pair of tights, or two.) It quite honestly is the easiest way to take a Summer dress you love, & winterize it.

This Danier turtleneck has been in my collection a very, very long time (like 2009-ish) & I had completely forgotten how cute it looks under spaghetti strap dresses (& even tanks) like this. This outfit was my Family Coffee Date OOTD, & it made me feel so cute & so put together when I went out. My only complaint? I wish I had a cute little belt to empahsize my waist (this dress is a little bit big on me) but I just found a couple of my favourite cincher belts (including a black one that would be perfect with this look) that I’ll be able to pull out next time.

What do you think about this look? Do you find ways to Winterize your favourite fashion items so that you can wear them all year long? Let me know your secrets down in the comments below!

FASHION FRIDAY — My 5 Go To Items (Right Now)

Hey lovelies! Yep, I promise you’re in the right place. Like I mentioned before, I’ve been thinking of branching out for blog & expanding my content. A long, long time ago, I used to share OOTD on my old blog, & it was so much fun because it encouraged me to get dressed up more. Also, I just really really like clothes & fashion & dressing up. So I thought it would be fun to share some fashion content on here as well with what I’m dubbing “Fashion Fridays”.

I thought I would start off this week with my five go-to items (right now). I have a pretty extensive wardrobe that I’ve collected over the years, but I do tend to have a kind of uniform I adopt for those days where I just can’t bother to put a lot effort into getting dressed, but still want to look & feel cute. Some of these items are out of stock or a couple years old, so if I can’t link the exact item, I will link items similar.
