SWATCH SUNDAY — Gelish Royal Temptations Spring 2018 Collection

PR Sample — sent to me free for testing & review.

Happy Sunday lovelies! I feel like it’s been ages since my last Swatch Sunday post, even though it’s only been 2 weeks. We’re currently under a snowfall warning here in Halifax (yes, in April…) so it felt like a good time to share the swatches of the Gelish Soak Off Gel Spring 2018 collection! The Royal Temptations collection is inspired by the lavish life of Marie Antionette! The colours are described as opulent pastels & according to the press release “help convey the romantic fantasy we convey with being a queen”.

These polishes are soak off gel polishes which mean they require a UV light to cure as well as a gel base & top coat. For my swatches I used a gel top coat that I already owned from Sensationgel.

Gelish — Beauty Marks the Spot

2 coats & gel top coat.

Starting off this collection bright with Beauty Marks the Spot, a pink coral cream. This is a super bright cream shade which is Summer pedicure perfection. It’s also one of those shades that is hard to photograph. It goes almost neon, which I adore because it gives me the appearance of looking tanned without actually having to tan.

Gelish — All The Queen’s Bling

2 coats & gel top coat

I’m still a relative newbie to the world of soak off gel polish, but I’m slowly getting the hang of it. This was also a 2 coat application (not including base & top coat) & it built to opacity quite easily. I really love the blue shimmer that comes out easily from the base of this polish. The sparkle is subtle, but not so subtle you don’t see it.

Gelish — Over the Top Pop

1 coat & gel top coat (over All The Queen’s Bling)

Who doesn’t love a fun glitter top coat & Over the Top Pop is definitely fun. It’s a clear base filled with different kinds of glitters: holographic, hearts, butterflies, circles, shards. You definitely had to dig around a little for the larger glitters, but one a simple swipe will leave you with little holo glitters over your base. This would be so perfect for a glitter gradient.

Gelish — All My Hearts Desires

2 coats & gel top coat.

Out of all the shades in this collection, I think this one is my favourite! In fact, I did my first gel pedicure with this shade because I loved it so much! It’s bright & applied in two easy coats. This shade is somewhere between a Barbie Pink & bubblegum pink which makes it perfect for Summer! In fact, it’s almost the exact shade of my favourite pair of pink sunglasses.

Gelish — Ruffle Those Feathers

2 coats & gel top coat.

Another perfectly bright shade that screams Spring/Summer. This collection definitely has gotten the shade selection right for these polishes. There is something about Ruffle Those Feathers that reminds me of ice cream — don’t ask me why, as I don’t think I’ve ever eaten ice cream this bright, but it does. Also this is another shade I can definitely see myself wearing on my toes a lot this Summer.

Gelish — Curls & Pearls

3 coats & gel top coat.

This pastel peach cream shade was a bit more tricky to build to opacity as it’s a little sheer, but it’s a great neutral shade is a sea of brightness.  It also makes a great base for Over The Top Pop to shine, which is how I was wearing it today.

Gelish — My Other Wig is a Tiara

2 coats & gel top coat.

The last shade I have for you today was the one I found the trickiest to apply. This frosty metallic blue took 2 coats for application & you definitely want to make sure you use thin coats. My first time applying, my coats were too thick & the polish ended up wrinkling when I cured it. The second time I applied it, I used much thinner coats & it turned out perfect. Usually I’m not a fan of frosty shades, but this one is very pretty.

So that’s Gelish’s Royal Temptations 2018 Spring collection. All shades are available in stores now. You can find this collection at Sally Beauty, NailPolishCanada.com, as well as on Amazon. If you’re a fan of soak off gel polish & are looking for some perfect colours to add to your stash, I would definitely recommend picking up a few of these colours. Ruffle Those Feathers, All My Hearts Desires, & Beauty Marks the Spot are going to be my main picks for pedicures just as soon as it’s sandal weather!

For those who aren’t gel polish fans, you can also find the shades available in non-gel formulas by Morgan Taylor.
