SWATCH SUNDAY — OPI Vampsterdam

Good morning lovelies & happy Sunday. The last Sunday of October — because this month is just going by at a crazy rate! I thought for this weeks Swatch Sunday I would come up with something kind of Halloween-y to share, & this latest Winners find definitely fits the bill!

This is OPI Vampsterdam— originally released as part of the Spring/Summer 2012 Holland Collection. But I totally feel like between the name & the shade, it could be a Fall shade.

2 coats, no top coat

The shade itself is a very warm plum, with stunning frosty shimmer. I needed 2 coats for full coverage, but I did find I needed to wait a bit between coats because if not it would pull a bit (see my pinky finger). The formula was also quite thin, but it was also a brand new bottle, so maybe that was why? Either way, not big issues that take away from the polish.

The shade itself is absolutely stunning, & very perfect for late October. It’s beautiful & definitely vampy. It also has a lovely jewel tone to it that I feel like translates into holiday party season. Definitely another winner & shade that I will find myself reaching for again & again.

Over all, I love this shade.

I’m not 100% sure on availability in store — this is obviously OPI’s newer label — but it is available to “try on” via the OPI website in both regular & Infinite Shine, but I couldn’t find an option to buy. However, I did find a link to it on Amazon.ca & Tradesecrets.ca — both in the Infinite Shine formula. So if you need this shade, that’s probably your best options!

SWATCH SUNDAY – Personnelle Cosmetics Daisy

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! I hope everyone is having a lovely start to their day, & is enjoying their weekend however they can. It’s a bit rainy here, but the temperatures have been very mild for October, which I’m enjoying. Perfect boots & tights weather, without needing too many layers.

Today I’m excited though, because I’m sharing a new polish with you I picked up last weekend while I was away to my parents in Northern New Brunswick. No matter where I go, I always got to check out the clearance rack, & I ended up finding this beauty at the local pharmacy (Jean Coutu) for $2.

This is Personnelle Cosmetics Daisy, which is the Jean Coutu in-house cosmetics line.

1 coat, no top coat.

Holy Moses, this is a stunning polish, & the formula is absolutely amazing! The colour is this beautiful darkened purple-y blue, with metallic finish. I was also really really impressed with how well this formula applied — I only needed one coat for each nail, which is awesome! Especially with a finish like this, because it cuts down on the amount of brush strokes you need to apply.

Just look! It’s so beautiful! & the colour is a perfect jewel tone for this time of year. & the little hint of silver sparkles is beautiful. I ended up wearing this shade for a few days, topped with Starrily Eclipse holographic top coat, & it was a stunning combination. Definitely very impressed, especially for a pharmacy nail polish that was only $2. But even at the regular price ($5.99) it’s definitely a great quality choice.

This brand is sadly only available in Ontario, Quebec & New Brunswick Canada (as far as I’m aware) so it’s a pretty limited scope, but if you’re even in a location with a Jean Coutu location, I definitely recommend popping in & checking out their cosmetics, especially their nail polish. I’ve always had good luck finding clearance nail polish there, including some Essie shades I had been coveting for years!

What do you think of Personnelle Cosmetics Daisy? Would you wear this beautiful metallic shade? Have you ever tried this brand before? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

SWATCH SUNDAY — OPI Peace, Love & OPI

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. & happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians. I hope you all get a chance to celebrate however you prefer — whether that is turkey, Tofurky or pizza!

Today, though, it’s all about Swatch Sunday, & I’m sharing a fun old school shade from OPI dating back to OPI Fall/Winter San Fransisco collection from 2013. This is OPI Peace Love & OPI, a beautiful charcoal grey metallic with a fun teal purple duo chrome effect.

2 coats + Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure

The formula on this beauty isn’t too hard, though it does have a bit of streakiness to it, which I found is alleviated with some top coat. The colour is beautiful — it reminds me a lot of Essie For The Twill of It which is another silver/grey favourite I used to wear quite a bit. & I do love a good duo/multi chrome effect, although I found it didn’t quite show up as much in my photos as it does in person.

A little macro shot action. You can really see the teal & purple here.

This shade has been in my stash a long, long time. I think, at least 6 years — it has a white spot on its lid, which says to me I bought it on clearance at Chatters. When I worked close to one, I used to love checking out the clearance section because they always had the most amazing deals on polishes!

What do you think about this shade from OPI? Do you have Peace Love & OPI in your own stash? Let me know what your favourite metallic grey polish is down in the comments below.

Have a lovely Sunday.

SWATCH SUNDAY — Color Club Black Magic

Hey Beauties & happy Sunday! & happy first Sunday of October! It’s officially spooky season. I’m breaking out my Halloween decorations as we speak.

It’s also time to start finding some spooky-inspired polishes from my stash to feature on Swatch Sunday. Honestly, I haven’t bought any Halloween polishes in a few years, so I’m running out of a polishes that work for Halloween, haha. This might be the year I need to add a few new ones to my stash. But — in the meantime, here in a kind of Halloween-y/Witchy polish: Color Club Black Magic.

2 coats, no top coat.

I’ve written about these Color Club holos before, & how much I love them. Walmart was selling the whole collection, & then had them on clearance, so naturally I had to stock up on a few. & I feel like everyone needs a black holographic polish in their life, so those moments when you’re feeling moody — or, you know, for Halloween.

For my polishes, I captured my swatches with the daytime light in my light box, but also used the flash on my camera to get the holo to show up even better.

Formula on this polish was super easy to apply. First coat was a little streaky/patchy, but with the second coat we had the full opacity you see in my pictures. That’s also without top coat, but it still has a nice gloss to it as well. & the sparkle! Yes the sparkle is fantastic. I really like the flash on rainbow against the black base. & I think this would be a fantastic base for some Halloween nail art.

& obviously, we need a sunshine shot, because I really feel like you can’t truly appreciate holo until you see it in the sun. & she is stunning in the sun! Really gives off oil spill vibes.

What do you think about Color Club Black Magic? Is it giving you Halloween vibes? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below & share what Halloween inspired your loving right now, because I’m definitely on the look out to add a few new ones to my stash!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Berry Fancy

Good morning lovelies & happy Sunday. Unless, of course, you to where in the path of Hurricane Fiona & are also still in the post storm darkness. I come to you, from my the front of our car where I am simultaneously charging my near dead phone, & using it as a hot spot so I can write up the blog post!

Haha, Hurricane or no, the show much go on.

Today I reached into my stash for another pretty shade from a few years ago: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Berry Fancy. This shade was originally released as part of the Sally Hansen Red/esign collection circa 2018, & was gifted to me from Sally Hansen in a super cute package. At the time, I was newly pregnant with my daughter (& sick all the time) so I only swatched 1/2 the collection. You can find those shades HERE.

2 coats + Sally Hansen CSM Fast Dry Top Coat

The formula on this shade is quick nice. It’s not a one coater, which would be nicer, but it does apply absolutely perfectly in 2 coats, & leaves a thick glossy finish, even before applying top coat. The colour itself is a beautiful dusty brick red, that leans a bit more berry side of things. It’s a nice change up, & definitely is 100% an Autumn shade.

Again, the application was really nice, & I like that this is a not quite red kind of shade. It’s kind of like a mix between a dark dusty rose, a brick red, & like… maybe plum? Either way, it’s a fantastic edition to my red collection, because sometimes you get a little bored with just fire engine red, you know?

This is also the shade/colour I’ve been heavily debating adding to my hair where I have it coloured. Currently it’s a not so great, extremely faded, purple-y pink colour, so I’m thinking it would be nice to go with something definitely for the ‘Ber months… since they are my favourite months, after all!

I peeked online, but it doesn’t look like Berry Fancy is still part of Sally Hansen’s regular core collection. I did find one bottle listed on eBay, used, but other thank that it doesn’t look like its an easy shade to track down. That being said, I feel like this shade probably has an easy dupe out there, so if you’re looking for a red/not-quite-red shade like this, it won’t be hard to dupe.

Let me know what you think of this shade, & have a wonderful day. Time for me to finish my camp stove made coffee, & pray we get some power soon! Have a lovely day darlings!
