Hello lovelies & happy Swatch Sunday! Today the Fall vibes are beginning to call to me & I’m sharing an oldie but a goodie with you. I was feeling some multichrome vibes–which always happens as we get closer to Fall–so I decided to pull out a great shifty polish to curb my vampy polish craving: Claire’s Chromance.
This polish dates all the way back to 2015 & is no longer available (as far as I’m aware). I do believe I originally purchased it as part of one of their buy 1 get 1 -50% promos & it was like $6.50 CAD.
As you can read on the bottle it says “Holographic” which any true nail polish addict will tell you is lies. No, Chromance is a multichrome polish that shifts mostly between purple & blue with flashes of pink & gold & even a little green depending on the lighting.
This shade reminds me a lot of another multichrome shade that I’ve shared before: ACO by Ardene Twilight Zone.
As you can probably tell from looking at the bottle, Chromance is an extremely thin polish, which I find works better when layered over another polish. For my swatches I picked China Glaze Plur-ple to compliment the purple shimmer while also keeping from going too dark… after all, it’s only August. For my swatches I did 2 coats of Plur-ple, followed by two coats of Chromance & finished with glossy top coat to seal it all in. Now if I was looking for a more vampy look, layering this polish over black or navy blue would definitely give me what I was looking for! & you can definitely expect to see that in a few months.
I have quite a few of these multichrome shades in my collection from a few years back when I was absolutely obsessed with them, but I always forget how much I love them until I stumble across them randomly while trying to figure out how to paint my nails. It’s a shame because they really are so pretty! & even though the light box doesn’t do the shift justice, they’re hard not to keep from staring at!
That’s the only downside to owning 1000+ polishes… beauties like this get forgotten about for those easy to grab shades.
& just got fun, here is Chromance in outdoor, indirect light. Makes it look like a whole different polish (& really shows off that pink, purple, & blue shimmer shift!) My nails almost look radioactive in this lighting… how cool is that? I can’t believe I’ve waited so long to wear this polish again, & I really can’t wait to wear this polish layered over black. Maybe with some matte top coat added over top!
