Turquoise & Purple Marbled Nails

Good morning lovelies! I’m back from the land of the stomach flu. Thankfully I managed to avoid catching it but the rest of the house was not so lucky. After 3 days of basically hiding, I finally managed to do my nails & it feels so good. Especially since yesterday marks 🎉FIVE YEARS🎉 since the beginning of this little nail blog of mine.

& I totally forgot until yesterday (I blame pregnancy brain & trying to avoid gastro.) I’m going to do a post tomorrow soon I’ve been planning on writing forever, but in the meantime I have some quick & easy nails that have become a favourite over the years!

Today’s look is another Saran Wrap splatter/marble.

The polishes I used for this look were:

  • Base Coat: Nailtek 2
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Icing Matte Effect Polish 60217
  • Color Club Disco Dress
  • Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Black Heart
  • Crinkled up plastic bag

Usually I try to create a splatter effect when I do my Saran Wrap nails, but I wanted to do more of a marble look this time so I layered my polishes… a splatter of purple, a splatter of turquoise, a splatter of Black & then a little more turquoise. This created the more marble effect & they look EXACTLY like how I pictured in my head!

I’m seriously just so in love with how they turned out.

I just want to say thank you really quick to everyone who has been checking out this blog for the last five years. From my early days with some questionable photography skills to now, you guys are the reason I keep coming back… even if there are long pauses due to things like morning sickness & birth haha.

& I’ll keep coming back no matter what new adventures life comes my way.

💙💙

Spring Half Moons

Good morning & happy April! Now that the weather has been turning around & I can finally break out the Spring dresses, it means I need a manicure to match!

& I was really, really feeling a Peach & mint combo. I thought about some floral, but honestly I was feeling so exhausted that I decided on something a little faster. & so I turned to a tried & tested favourite! The half moon.

The polishes I used for this look were:

  • Base Coat: Nailtek 2
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Malibu Peach {PRsample}
  • Essie Mint Candy Apple
  • Paper Hole reinforcement stickers

This is the greener version of Essie Mint Candy Apple–I also have the blue version as well (which was gifted to me, & I do t think I’ve worn it yet so I’ll have to change that!) This colour scheme definitely screams Spring to me, so bright & colourful & vibrant. It’s exactly what we need after these long months of snow & cold & yuck.

Just look at how lovely that combo is!

{Yet Another} Spring Floral

Good morning lovelies & happy Wednesday. Hopefully wherever you are right now it’s feeling like Spring is around the corner. Here in Halifax, sadly, it seems like Winter has finally hit & it’s been bitterly cold. So naturally that means it’s time for floral! Seriously, anytime I remember that it’s still winter, I just have to create some floral nails again.

Today’s nail art look was done while watching the Oscars on Sunday night & inspired by the Valentino dress worn by Keira Knightley in 2015. I remember wanting to create Nails inspired by that gorgeous dress 4 years ago… but you know, I always get distracted haha. So I decided while watching this year’s show that it was finally time.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel In the Sheer
  • Sally Hansen MG Make It N-Ice
  • China Glaze Life Is Rosy
  • Sally Hansen MG Orchid-ing Around
  • Essie Play Date
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Trouble Maker
  • Sally Hansen MG Sugar Rush
  • Sally Hansen MG Just Maui’d
  • China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin
  • Sally Hansen I ♥️ Nail Art pen in green
  • Essie Off Tropic

I’ll be honest–I used so many polishes, that I probably forgot some. But that’s the gist of what I used. I always use a ton of polishes when feeehanding my floral & I never think to write all of them down. Maybe someday I’ll remember.

I really love how this turned out, especially over the light almost nude base (with hint of holo.) A little pop of colour.

what do you think of this design? Who else is craving Spring weather hardcore? Ooooooh dreaming of maxi dresses & jean jackets & counting down the days (weeks… months…)

Dark & Simple Dotticure

Good morning lovelies & happy Wednesday! Today’s look is one of my favourite easy nail ideas–a simple dotticure. Seriously, is there any easier way to add a little fun to other wise boring nails then with a few carefully placed dots? (Especially when you stay up too late binge watching Netflix & forget all about doing your nails…)

For this manicure, I pulled out one of my beloved Sally Hansen nail art pens. I’m not sure if you can still purchase these (I haven’t looked in a while) but a few years ago I picked them up & they’re one of my favourite & easiest ways to create polka dots! There is something so easy about using a pen instead of a dotting tool for creating teeny, tiny polka dots.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Essie Grow Stronger
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • OPI Cosmo With A Twist
  • Sally Hansen I ♥️ Nail Art pen in Silver

What I love about this look is how easy it is. Paint nails. Let dry a few minutes. Dot with nail Art pen & seal with top coat. Bam, done! No tools even needed. & you don’t even need to worry about cleaning off your dotting tool & then re-dipping it into the polish, so finishing your nails is a whole lot faster. & the dots seem to end up being more similar than when I try to do the same look with a dotting tool.

so what do you think of this look? Are you a fan of dotticures? Share your thoughts down in the comments below! ♥️

Matte Floral over Coral 🌸

First nail art of this brand new year… & obviously I had to go with floral! Who says you can only wear flowers on your nails in Spring & Summer… floral is an all year nail art trend for me. Also, I have to admit, it feels really nice to be feeling up to doing my nails again. & even though I’m a wee bit rusty, it’s like riding a bike how easy it is to get back into the routine again.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Essie Grow Stronger
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat
  • Matte Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Malibu Peach
  • Essie 5th Avenue
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sweet Tea
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Red It Online
  • Essie Suite Retreat
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sugar Fix
  • Essie Off Tropic
  • Essie First Timer
  • Essie Fashion Playground

I love how this turned out & how the red & blurple flowers pop over the coral polish. This was definitely one of those manicures I went into with no real “plan” but kind of kind winged it… & it turned out so pretty to me! Also it was so exciting to finally get to test out my new nail art tools from NailStuff.ca.

what do you think of this look? What nail art looks are you excited to try out this year? Maybe I’ll give watermarbling another try!
