Hello lovelies! & happy Monday. This month I’ve decided to try something different & dedicate myself to a nail art challenge. This is not the first time I’ve attempted a nail art challenge, but when I saw the prompts for the Glams Nail Challenge for August, it seemed a little less daunting than those I’ve attempted in the past… while still sparking some creative new designs!

There are 8 prompts for the month of August, starting with Nautical Nails! It’s been quite a while since I attempted any kind of nautical design, so I was very excited for the opportunity. Plus it gave me a chance to test out a colour combination I’ve really wanted to do for a while.

I honestly can’t remember the last time I did any nautical themed nails, so I was excited for the inspiration to give it a fresh go!

I’m absolutely smitten with how this look turned out. The colours go really well together & I like how it’s not your typical colour scheme for this kind the yellow has that nice pop of colour, & is a little bit different. It’s so funny, because a few years ago my best friend got married in a nautical themed wedding, & these nails would have been perfect for us bridesmaids to wear — matches her colour scheme she had used too! For reference, these were the nails I wore to her bridal shower in the Wedding colours.

Gradient Desert Scene

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday!

Today I’m doing sort of a throwback Thursday post as today’s manicure is one I did a while back but never shared. I was scrolling through my phone last night, & stumbled across this design & knew I had to post it! Especially because I have no idea what I wouldn’t have shared them in the first place. Thankfully I kept a list of the polishes I used, so even though these were done a while ago, I could still share exactly what I used to create this look!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Essie Parka Perfect
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Rose to the Occasion
  • Essence Black is Back
  • Sally Hansen CSM Let’s Snow!
  • Nailstuff.ca mermaid tail detail brushes
  • Edge Perfection cuticle barrier
  • Latex free make up sponge (I buy mine at Dollarama)

I love love love doing these landscape gradient nails. It’s kind of like a galaxy nail, but less work. & of course I added cacti in the distance, because they’re my favourite.

Seriously, I cannot understand why I never shared this design when I originally did them. The gradient looks nice, my freehand work isn’t awful. Maybe I was just saving it for right now (without realizing it?) Either way I’m happy to share this look with you now!

What do you think of this gradient landscape look?

Marble Fluid Nails

Good morning lovelies & happy Friday! Who else is excited for the weekend!? Today I have some brand new nails with a new to me technique I’ve been wanting to try for AGES: fluid nails.

This technique has been popping up on Instagram for a while & I’ve been obsessed with how they looked just as long — I even went out & bought a few of the Sinful Colours Hypnotic Transforming Top Coats that were released a few years ago, but was dawdling on actually giving the technique a try!

The polishes I used for this design were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Bamboo & Green Tea Strengthner
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Pretty Peony
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Neons Peach Please
  • Sinful Colors Hypnotic Transforming Top Coat Rebel Rebel
  • Sinful Colors Hypnotic Transforming Top Coat Purpunk
  • Stamper (I used my clear stamper from Nailsuff.ca)

Most of the tutorials I saw involved creating decals to make your cells for the fluid look, but being lazy (& tired) I decided to see if I could use the smoosh technique to get a similar look. I painted my nails my base colour of choice & then applied drops of polish including my Sinful Colors Hypnotic Transforming Top Coats & then quickly pressed down using a stamper to smoosh my shades together. & it worked!

I was a little careful with application to keep mess to a minimal (couldn’t find my Edge Perfection & wasn’t in the mood for a ton of clean up) but you could definitely make the fluid look cover more of the nail if you applied more polish & smooshed down harder. I will definitely be trying this look again & seeing if I can do a fuller nail look. However, that being said my pinky was the first nail I did & it turned out my favourite!

Have you tried out the fluid nail art look yet? I know I’m about 2 years behind, but I’m so glad I finally gave it a try & finally used these awesome spotted polishes I’ve had in my stash forever!

Summer-y Neon Dotticure

{PR sample}

Good morning lovelies! & happy Tuesday! I hope everyone is having a great start to their week — we’re having a beautiful Sunny day today & I plan on fully embracing all the sunshine. So what better day to share this fun neon dotticure I did last week.

Again, I had to reach for my fun Neons from Sally Hansen Canada! I’m seriously either grabbing these Neons & my Holos which is why you see me grabbing either so often!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Green Tea & Bamboo Strengthener
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Electri-Lime
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Fuchsia Fever
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Lemon Chillo
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Miami Ice
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Peach Please
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Violet Voltage
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod

Is there anything more fun than a dotticure? I just love how easy it is to do & how cute they look! With the white base, these remind me so much of candy! 🍭 I wore this design for a good 4 days before changing them up (this was day four) & they lasted an impressively long time without chipping! There was some growth near my cuticles, but other than that they were almost still perfect by day 4.

What design would you like to see next? What colours? Let me know down in the comments below!

(Even More) Cactus Nails

Good morning lovelies. I hope you’re not sick of cactus nails yet! I was inspired by my brand new make up from my previous post, so obviously I had to create some nails to match!

Cactus pattern nails have become a serious favourite design of mine to do, & I love how each nail design always turns out just a little bit different.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Essie Turquoise & Caicos
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • Essie First Timer
  • Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Black Heart
  • Nailstuff.ca 4mm micro detail brush {PR sample}
  • Nailstuff.ca dotting tool {PR sample}

How cute are these? I know I’m slightly bias, but I really like how these turned out. I think adding the black detailing really makes the design pop out more on the nail & reminds me of a pillow I have. Originally I was going to try & do some stamping, but I couldn’t find the plate I was looking for, so freehanding it is! & using my super tiny detail brush from NailStuff.ca was perfect for this tiny little design.
