Easter Mini Egg Nails

Is there anything more Easter-y than  Cadbury Mini Eggs? Well, I mean back in the day when they only came out at Easter. Sadly my lactose intolerance has come back since having the little one, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still love those delicious chocolate eggs (it just means I can eat them.) & since I won’t be enjoying them in my Easter basket this year, I thought I would continue the tradition of recreating them again on my nails. (I did mini egg nails previously in 2015 here & 2016 here

For this mani, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat Base Coat
  • Top Coat: Cutex Quick Dry Top Coat
  • Matte Top Coat: L’Oréal the Matte Velvet top coat.
  • China Glaze Sun Upon My Skin
  • Hard Candy Sky
  • OPI Getting Nadi On My Honeymoon
  • Revlon Minted
  • Nubar New Mood
  • Essie Cocoa Karma
  • Wet N Wild 2% Milk
  • Crinkled Up Plastic Wrap

I’ve been doing these nails every year and I love how each time year turn out differently depending on the polishes and techniques used. I also think it’s because they’re just so easy to do, but it looks fantastic & just the right amount of festive! But fair warning: they will make you crave chocolate mini eggs. & if you can’t eat chocolate that could become problematic. Haha.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

My Spring Polish Picks

If you’re like me, your love of nail polish may run into barriers such as money & time. Being a new Mom, I can’t afford to go crazy on buying nail polish like I used to, because you know… diapers. That means when I do want to buy polish, I have to make sure it is really something special. So instead, I’ve been “shopping” my own stash instead of buying new polishes.

In that spirit, I decided to go through & pick my favourite polishes for Spring from the shades I already own! It took me a while to pick my personal favourites from all the polishes I own, but these are all shades I can see myself reaching for in the coming months, & screams Spring to me!  I’ve listed the seasons these polishes were released, but I know some are part of the permanent core collections.

Cadbury mini eggs inspired nails.

 Edit

Easter is coming! So I figured it was about time I did some proper Easter nail art and what is more Easter then Cadbury Mini Eggs. (Or at least used to be back when they only came out in the weeks before Easter instead of being out all year.)

I originally stumbled across the idea for these mini Egg inspired nails on 10blankcanvases.com last Easter, but never got around to creating my own version. Since I can’t eat Chocolate, I decided my next best option was to wear them on my nails!

The polishes I used for this mani were:

  • Sinful Colors Mint Apple (green)
  • Essence you let my heart skip a beat (purple)
  • China Glaze Feel the Breeze (pink)
  • Revlon Dreamer (blue)
  • China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin (yellow)
  • Wet n Wild 2% Milk
  • OPI How Great is your Dane (specks)
  • Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coay
  • L’oreal The Matte Velvet top coat.

Edit So what are you wearing on your nails for Easter? I’m still trying to come up with a fun mani to wear for our Easter dinner with my inlaws.

Pineapple nail art inspired by Kayleehazacupcake

So I don’t have any idea what it’s about, but I’m totally obsessed with pineapples lately. I just bought a new crazy pineapple phone case for my iPhone and I had to have OPI Pineapples have Peelings Too! from the Spring Hawaii collection in part cause it mentions pineapples in the name! (And I’m actually such a dork!)

Today’s nail art is the personification of my Pineapple obsession in manicure form. A few weeks ago I saw Kayleehazacupcake did an adorable pineapple manicure, so I knew I had to attempt a recreation.

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • OPI Angel with a Leadfoot (white base colour)
  • China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin (yellow pineapples)
  • OPI How Great is your Dane? (Brown cross hatch)
  • Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art pen in green (leaves)
  • Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art pen in black (polka)
  • Seche Vite quick dry top coat.

So what do you think of my little pineapples? I seriously love them! I’m excited to give my nail art limits a little push past floral and polka dots.

SWATCH POST — OPI Pineapples have Peelings Too!

 Good morning lovelies!

I don’t know if you’ve checked out OPIs Hawaii collection yet. When I first saw the collection there was one polish I just HAD to have and that was this interesting glitter polish Pineapples have Peelings Too!

PHPT is a yellow-gold frosty base chalk full of multicoloured glitters. It hasn’t received the best reception online, but the trick to making this polish shine seems to be in the top coat application.

For my application, I applied three thin coats of PHFT! then applied two coats of Essence Gel Look top coat which is the thickest most pillow-y top coat I own, then finished with two coats of Seche Vite to speed up the drying process. I really kind of love the end result. I couldn’t stop staring at my nails all day!

So what do you think of Pineapples have Peelings too! from the OPI Hawaii collection? I think the last one I need to pick up from the collection is Go With the Lava Flow — it just looks so pretty!
