GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE APRIL ā€” Rainbow šŸŒˆ

Hello lovelies & happy Monday! I hope your day is starting off beautifully. Today Iā€™m in a great mood because Iā€™m sharing another beautiful manicure for Glam Nails Challenge April.

& what is the next prompt? Rainbow šŸŒˆ

How pretty is this rainbow? I thought about hand painting a rainbow, but there is just something about a skittle design. I totally could have freehanded little white ā€˜sā€™ in the middle of each nails, & they would have been legit skittles! Simple, but effective.

Also the kiddos loved the look so much, they asked me to give them both rainbow nails! So here is a bonus shot of their fun rainbow nails. Even though I sometimes get a little on edge painting their nails ā€” mostly because they hate sitting still ā€” I do adore anytime they ask for me to paint their nails!

& just for fun: what is your favourite skittle flavour. Iā€™m controversial because I will die on the hill that the green apple skittle was the best, especially in sour, but I know not everyone shares that opinion.

GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE APRIL ā€” Daffodils

Good morning lovelies & happy Wednesday! I hope everyoneā€™s week has been lovely so far. The weather has been seasonal so far, which I canā€™t complain about too much. & the flowers are beginning to bloom.

Itā€™s time for the next prompt of Glam Nails Challenge April: daffodils. & Iā€™ll be honest I was nervous, again, about this prompt. I love love love doing floral, but this was a type of flower Iā€™d never painted before. But, you know, I think I nailed it!

First off, check out this blue! I recently picked it up at Shoppers when I had some optimum points, & Iā€™m really in love with it. Itā€™s kind of hard to see in this lighting, but it has the prettiest pink-y shimmer in it. A fantastic colour for Spring. Also the perfect base for these beautiful yellow flowers.

Second Iā€™m so, so proud of how these daffodils turned out. Sometimes I get self conscious when it comes to nail art Iā€™ve never done before, but I really do love them. & itā€™s inspired me to do more floral again. I feel like I stopped doing florals for a while, & now that Spring is here, itā€™s time to pick up doing them again. Because, they really do make me so happy.

SWATCH SUNDAY ā€” Sally Hansen Peeps x InstaDri 717 PEEPS Classic Chick šŸ„

Hello lovelies & HAPPY EASTER! I hope the Easter bunny found you okay, & that you’re getting to enjoy some family time on this lovely Sunday. Today, I’m keeping the Easter vibes going with a nail polish I have been searching for, ever since I saw the swatches of it: The Peeps x Sally Hansen InstaDri collaboration for 2023.

If you didn’t know — Sally Hansen has once again teamed up with everyone’s favourite Easter candy for some fun nail polish vibes. & even more fun; they’re textured. I’ve been on the hunt for these polishes for weeks, but they kept seeming to allude me. I finally tracked down a display at my local Shoppers Drug Mart, but sadly it was very picked over so I was limited in my choices. I decided finally on a classic Peeps look: 717 PEEPS Classic Chick.

4 coats, no top coat.

These brand new Peeps polishes are textured, so the formula is very, very thin. Normally I would say no to any polish that requires FOUR coats of polish, but because of the thin form, it dries down very quickly, leaving you with a fun textured finish that is designed to mimic your classic Peeps marshmallow. The yellow, too, is spot on to the yellow of those Peeps chicks & bunnies, which made me super happy. The finish is also kind of semi-matte, which adds to the Peeps effect.

I was very impressed, too, by how quickly these dried. Obviously, I’m used to applying a quick dry top coat to my polish before wearing it, but where I wanted to let the textured finish show, I needed to let it dry on its own. But I had no issues with sheet marks, or smudging, even though I did these about an hour before I went to bed.

A close up of the textured finish. This is giving me 2012 textured polish vibes, & I’m not mad about it. In fact, it’s reminding me of a LA Girl Sand Blast polish I used to be obsessed with (Green Sand) & it kind of makes me wish this nail polish trend could make a resurgence.

I’m not usually a yellow kind of girl, but I actually really enjoyed wearing this polish. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this, but I started working in a candy store before Christmas, & so with Easter we’ve been selling a ton of Peeps! So it was fun comparing my nails to those classic yellow Peeps.

I think I might be a yellow girl now. At the very least, this will not be the last time I rock this yellow polish in the coming weeks.

& for fun, my nails & the freeze dried birthday cake Peep I enjoyed while at work.

Have you seen these Sally Hansen Peeps x InstaDri shades in store? Were there any you were desperate to get your hands on. I’m still kind of bummed my store was out of the pink, blue & purple shades but they did have Cotton Candy so I might have to go back & grab that one too just because I forgot how much I love textured shades!

Bright & Summery Saran Wrap Splatter

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday! It’s a beautiful sunny Thursday here, which is super exciting! It’s actually supposed to be warm & sunny. So naturally that means I need nails that are bright & fun to match.

Recently I teamed up with TradeSecrets.ca, which is a Canadian based online seller, & I picked a few new fun Spring/Summery nail polishes to add to my stash (along with a base coat & top coat). While I’ve followed along with TradeSecrets on Instagram, mostly for their hair products — because we all know I’m hair product obsessed — I was really excited to see all the fun nail related items they sell as well. They also have free shipping on all orders.

For my first look using these shades, I decided to go with a fun & easy Saran Wrap Splatter look.

The polishes I used for this manicure are: 

  • Base Coat: OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
  • Top Coat:Ā OPI Nature Strong Top Coat
  • OPI Nature Strong Make My Daisy
  • OPI Nature Strong Cactus What You Preach
  • OPI Nature Strong Emflowered
  • Saran Wrap or some kind of crinkled thin plastic (I used some of an apple bag)

I really, really need to do a video tutorial for these, but I keep forgetting I want to until after I’ve painted my nails. But how fun did these turn out? I’m really loving these three shades! When I was browsing the TradeSecrets website, these were the three colours that screamed Summer to me most, so obviously I needed them in my life!

I definitely suggest trying out TradeSecrets.ca if you’re looking for a new place to easily pick up nail polish. They have a huge selection of OPI polishes, but also sell ORLY & Dip polish kits for those who like a longer lasting manicure.
