Abstract drybrush and polka dots.ย

You know what I kind of love? Neon! ๐Ÿ˜Ž especially neon polish. I wore this neon dry brush mani a couple weeks back for a full two day because I loved them so much!

The polishes I used for this mani were:

  • OPI Angel with a Lead Foot (white base)
  • ACO by Ardene Sorbet
  • ACO by Ardene Bright Lights, Big City
  • Sinful Colors Boogie Nights
  • Sinful Colors Hip to be Square
  • Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art pen in black.
  • Seche Vite quick dry top coat.

I loved this mani so much–it’s one of the best dry brushes I’ve ever managed! And even more exciting it was featured by @craftyfingers on Instagram! ๐Ÿ™€ serious exciting moment in my nail blogging life!

So what do you think of this dry brush mani? What’s your favourite neon polish? Let me know in the comments below! โคต๏ธ ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

Purple floral featuring China Glaze Flying Dragon.ย

If there are two things you can count on me to obsess over when it comes to my nails, it is purple polish (bonus points if there is glitter involved!) and floral.

One of my favourite purples now and always is China Glaze Flying Dragon–a neon purple polish scattered with beautiful micro glitters. I was going through old mani pictures recently and realized it had been way too long since I had brought it out. I decided to recreate the first mani I ever did with this polish from way back in 2013.

First off, sorry for the shoddy Blackberry shot. I went for almost an exact recreation of my original floral. My hand has definitely gotten steadier. But Flying Dragon remains as gorgeous as always. Damn I love this polish SO much!

The polishes I used for this mani were:

  • China Glaze Flying Dragon (purple)
  • OPI Angel With A Lead Foot (white flowers)
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Lacy Lilac (light purple)
  • Sinful Colors Bianca (pink middle)
  • Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art pens in Black and White.
  • Seche Vite quick dry top coat.

Do you ever go back and recreate old manis? Let me know in the comments below! ๐Ÿ˜Š

If you’re hanging around Instagram, you may have noticed an whole bunch of happy face manicures popping up on your feed. @ohmygoshpolish has ignited a movement by encouraging her fellow nail girls to create these manicures to raise awareness and take a stand against bullying, hashtagging the manicures with #itonlytakesone.

Bullying is an issue that hits home with me–like so many, I’ve experienced my share of bullying. In junior high, that bullying came in the form of girls “innocently” teasing me about my weight. Unfortunately the taunts I heard influenced my poor body image, which eventually spiraled into a serious eating disorder that I’ve dealt with for the majority of my teenage and adult years. Thankfully I’ve embraced recovery, but I still struggle with the effects of that bullying daily, even 16 years later. I doubt those girls thought what they were doing was serious, but bullying is: what you say has consequences, and bullying is never okay. Ever. In today’s society, with the prevalence of smart phones and social media, bullying is at an all time high–it’s easy to break someone down when you have the protection of a screen. That’s why it’s important that when we see it happening, we take a stand against it.

One person can (and does) make a difference.

Candy Corn Gradient Nails!

IMG_0713

Tis the season… for Halloween nails!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and has been since I was a kid, so I always look forward to Halloween–especially because there is nothing better than a Halloween manicure! Last year, I made my first attempt at Candy Corn nails—except I did the colour in the wrong pattern! I wanted to give them another go, and figured the best way to do so was in a candy corn gradient.

The polishes I used for the manicure were:

  • Sinful Colors Easy Going — white/cream base.
  • Essence Color and Go Polka Holga — orange gradient.
  • Essence Color and Go Wake Up! — orange gradient.
  • China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin –yellow gradient.
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Mellow Yellow — yellow gradient.
  • ACO by Ardene Meteorite — glitter.
  • Essie Good to Go Top Coat.

I absolutely ADORE how this gradient turned out. Sometimes gradients can be a hit or miss for me, but I was absolutely in love with this one. It really looked like little candy corn on my nails, and it was super easy to do! (Please ignore the boo-boo on my middle finger–I’m such a klutz sometimes.) Also, I’m really loving the new graffiti top coats that ACO by Ardene has just released–they have them in a whole assortment of different colors, so I had to try them out! This one (Meteorite) really complimented my candy corn gradient, and I think brought the whole look together. =)

The other day, while starting to do my nails, I wasn’t sure what exactly to do. I wanted to create some kind of accent nail, and so I just started doodling and ended up with these. Totally random and abstract. But considering I hadย  no real plan going in, the end result actually looks like maybe I planned these all along. They were so fun I actually ended up wearing them for two whole days–which is a big accomplishment for me.

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • Essence Beauty Beats Collection Baby Ooh Ooh.
  • OPI I Snow you Love Me.
  • OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.
  • Sinful Colors Hip to be Square.
  • Sinful Colors Cold Leather.
  • China Glaze What a Pansy.
  • Art Club Striping Polish in Paisley Paradise.
  • Stripe Rite Striping Polish in White.
  • Seche Vite Top Coat.

So what do you think of these abstract nails? They were fun to wear for my fabulous adventure around the city with my favorite gay boyfriend. And even though it was full on summer heat, I still had to get myself a Pumpkin Spice Latte because they are officially back! Pretty nails, fabulous company, and a delicious drink. What more could a girl ask for? =)
