Colour blocking sideways chevrons (inspired by @lenareitz)

Good Evening!

I’ve had a busy day so I’m big late on posting, but I really wanted to share this colour blocking mani because I just love how it turned out! I was inspired by @lenareitz who posted a negative space sideways colour block that was just stunning.

The polishes I used for this mani were:

  • OPI Dutch Ya Just Love OPI!
  • China Glaze Jungle Queen
  • Essie Where’s my Chauffeur?
  • Essie Good to Go
  • My Nails Did Right Angle Chevron nail vinyls.

I just love that pop of turquoise against the purples. I also debated making these matte but love how they look with gloss.

I’m trying to play around with new designs and styles to keep things different! Only so many ways you can do chevron moons haha.

If you have any suggestions for manicure ideas, let me know in the comments below! I’m currently saving some fun Valentines ideas to tackle!

I just can’t get enough… Chevron nails.

Anyone else remember the days of freehanding my chevrons that were sort of lopsided (but don’t get me wrong–I’m still super proud I even did them!)

Thank goodness for nail vinyls–they make nail art so crazy easy. I’ve been playing around with then a lot lately and found Kiss Products Design Perfection Tip Guides at Wal-Mart for something like $1.99. I love trying new products so I decided to pick them up. They come with 4 different styles per sheet–moon, chevron, zig zag and French manicure. I’ve used the chevrons a couple times, but this was my first time trying out the zig zag vinyls.

The products I used for this manicure were:

  • Essie Brides No Grooms
  • Essie Tuck it in My Tux
  • Essie Shine of the Times
  • China Glaze Sleeping Under the Stars
  • Essie Good to Go
  • Kiss Products Design Perfection Tip Guides
  • Sally Hansen I Love Nail Art Studs

I’m super sad Shine of the Times didn’t really show up. If I had been thinking I would have used it over both Tuck it in My Tux and Sleeping Under the Stars. Also how cute are these little studs from Sally Hansen?! Picked up their nail art studs set on sale at Shoppers and I’ve been having fun playing with them. They’re just so itty bitty.

Aztec inspired chevron moons.

I’ve been trying to wear older polishes in my stash a little more lately. Sometimes I forget I own certain polishes I’ve had for a while (like 4+ years Haha.) I guess that’s what happens when your polish is quickly approaching the 1000s.

When I first started growing my stash, Essence was my go to. Their Color & Go line was one of my favourites, and I still adore (almost) all of their polishes with all of my heart. My base is Essence Color and Go Luxury Secret, a dark metallic grey which I picked up when Essence first showed up at Shoppers Drug Mart with their cute little mini round bottles.

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • Essence Color & Go Luxury Secret
  • China Glaze Dune Our Thing
  • Milani Nail Art with precision brush (in black)
  • Essie Good to Go
  • Kiss Perfect Design tip Guides (chevrons)
  • Small sized dotting toll

This design turned out very tribal/Aztec and I dig it. I also adore how well China Glazs Dune Our Thing really pops against Luxury Secret. Pink and dark grey are just such a fantastic combo together.

What do you think of this Color combo and design? What are some of your favourite forgotten polish favourites?

Let me know in the comments below!

And just for fun, here’s my OOTD and NOTD. Cosy blush sweater is from Ardene, black Jeggings are Garage and black combat boots are also Ardene. I love when my nails and my outfit compliment each other so well by accident!)

Have a lovely Tuesday! 💗

Another Go at Abstract Accent Nails

Does anyone remember this manicure from August 2014? Back from the days of my old Blackberry and less than stellar photo quality.  I thought it would be fun–since I’m struggling for inspiration lately–to give an old mani a redo! And since I loved these accents nails so much the first time, it seemed like the perfect choice.

The polishes I used for this mani were:

  • Essence Break Through
  • Essie After School Boy Blazer
  • OPI I Canolli Wear OPI
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Babe Blue
  • China Glaze Dune Our Thing
  • Born Pretty Rhinestones (item #21586)
  • Essie Good to Go top coat.

So what do you think of this mani? Which one do you prefer–this manicure or the original? One thing for sure is that my photo quality has definitely improved! 😆

Have a great day loves! I’m off to enjoy the rest of my day with plenty of coffee and a little writing! ☕️📝

Rose and Diamond nails featuring rhinestones from Born Pretty

Good morning! Today I’ve got another manicure featuring an item sent to me for review by Born Pretty

We’ve got some serious snow happening here in good ole Halifax so what better to wear on my nails than floral! And I thought these beautiful irredescent rhinestones (item #21586) would perfectly compliment my roses.

Each little bin comes with 130 little stones of varying sizes. For this manicure I went with the smallest of the 3. I really love using studs and stones in my nail art as accents, and I’m very impressed with how easy these were to pick up and apply. The stones themselves are very light in weight so all I used to pick them up was a damp nail art brush. I then just put them in place over some wet top coat, then sealed everything in with another coat of top coat! Easy peasy.

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Grey Area
  • China Glaze Chit-Chat
  • OPI I Canolli Wear OPI
  • Sinful Colors Aubergine
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Giant Peach.
  • Essie Good to Go top coat.
  • Large size dotting tool
  • Small nail art brush
