Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! I hope you’re excited for some fun & festive nail polish!
I don’t know about you, but once the middle of November hits, I tend to start thinking holiday nail polish — & holiday nail polish for me usually means glitter! Earlier in the week, I was out at Shoppers with the hubby, & happened across a display for new Sally Hansen shades. One side had Complete Salon Manicure shades, & the other had some fun new Miracle Gel shades, including some glitter toppers & new shades (plus new matte & glossy top coats!)
While I definitely would have loved one of everything, I decided to stick to one shade & couldn’t pass up this beautiful holographic glitterbomb called Hue There?
Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! & happy November 1st! We’re officially down to two months of this year, & here’s hoping the last two months of 2020 is a gentle ride.
Today I’m starting off this brand new month with some pretty grey nails: Revlon Iconic. The perfect November nail polish pick!
2 coats + top coat
This shade was (is?) part of the permanent Revlon nail polish collection, although Google has been less than its usual helpful self. As you can see, I scored my bottle on clearance for only 99 cents.
The polish itself is a dark grey with almost teal/ greenish undertones. The shade itself very much screams late Fall to me — it’s the perfect transitional shade as we leave the beauty of early Fall behind, but aren’t quite ready for our Holiday polish picks & designs yet! (Just a whole lot of sweater nails — get ready
I must say, the formula on this shade was pretty freaking flawless. It was almost completely opaque on the first coat, but I applied 2 just so no spots were missed. & finished off with some glossy top coat, just to give it some extra lasting power & shine.
I’ve always been a fan of Revlon nail polish, as they have great classic colours, & the formula seems to last well on my nails. Plus, they’re always a great affordable drug store brand to grab when you’re out & about. It’s not often they’re not on some kind of deal at one of our local drugstores!
What do you think about this beautiful grey shade? Do you own Revlon Iconic in your nail polish stash? What polishes do you usually reach for during this month? Are you starting your Christmas looks early this year?
Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! Today I thought I would pull out a Halloween oldie from my polish stash for this week’s Swatch Sunday! This is China Glaze Don’t Let The Dead Bite from the China Glaze Apocalypse Of Color 2014 Halloween collection.
Don’t Let The Dead Bite is a milky jelly pinky polish that is packed full of multi sized & shaped red glitters.
2 coats + top coat
I am a sucker for a good Halloween collection, so I remember being very excited about finding this shade on clearance a few years ago. If I remember correctly, I bought this shade for Valentine’s Day, because I thought the glitters would be perfect for that.
My bottle has definitely changed a bit over the years, with the glitters bleeding a bit & making the base darken. It’s still a beautiful shade, but not quite in its original form. The formula, however, remains just as easy to work with as when I first bought it, which I appreciate.
I really like this shade, & to be honest, I kind of forgot I owned it until I was looking for something Halloween-y to adorn my nails with! I can’t believe October is almost over! How crazy is that?!
Do you remember this China Glaze collection from 2014? Did you get your hands on any of the shades? What is your favourite Halloween polish collection? Let me know down in the comments below!
Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. Hope everyone is having a lovely & caffeinated start to their week. I’ve been playing around with the espresso machine my husband bought me for my birthday last week, so I’m very well caffeinated!
I’m also really excited to show off today’s Swatch Sunday post cause I pulled a great shade from deep in my stash, that I thought would be perfect in honour of Halloween: OPI Designer Series Mystery.
2 coats + Essie Gel Setter Top Coat.
This beautiful jelly dark purple is packed full of gold & shifty flakes. DS Mystery was originally released in 2009 (I do believe). For those who don’t know, the OPI Designer Series was a line of special polishes released, that were extra special. This shade was scored on clearance at a local salon, after they discontinued selling the Designer Series shades there.
For my swatches, I only needed 2 coats & added top coat for a little extra shine. The formula is smooth, & covers easily after 2 coats, even with the jelly base.
I don’t think that OPI has completely discontinued the collection, but I’m not 100% sure. NailPolishCanada still has some of the DS shades for sale, including DS Mystery. So if you need the polish in your life, I definitely recommend picking it up!
Originally I thought I would add some nail art over top of this shade, it was so beautiful on its own, I decided to enjoy it in all it’s flakie goodness. It’s definitely a great shade for Fall, & would make an excellent base for Halloween nail art as well!
What do you think about this OPI shade? Do you have any of the Designer Series shades in your stash? Let me know in the comments below, & what nIl art you would pair with this polish!
Hello lovelies & Happy Sunday! Today I have another really fun nail polish to share with you!
For those who don’t know, Essie released a Halloween nail polish collection, for the first time ever! So naturally when I saw the shades at my local Shoppers Drug Mart, I knew I had to pick at least one shade up (I was being good). All the shades were pretty beautiful (@apolishedcolleen has full swatches on her Instagram) but the one that caught my eye most was Like A Charm.
There is something about a shifty dark purple that just makes me so happy, especially during Halloween season.
2 coats + Essie Speed Setter Top Coat
Like A Charm is a dark navy with scattered teal & blue & silver flakies to give it a fantastic colour shifting effect, which you can really see in the above macro shot. The formula was nice & not too thick, but did off a good amount of coverage. I did two coats for even application & opacity.
I definitely was really excited to see Essie come out with a fun Halloween collection this year, & even though this isn’t a completely unique shade in my nail polish collection over all, it is a unique shade when it comes to the Essie shades I own, & for that I am so, so glad that I picked it up!
Truthfully, I haven’t even gotten that excited about Halloween yet, just because this year has been such a rough year, but starting to paint my nails with Halloween polishes (especially one so witchy!) definitely gets me pumped to start thinking about my favourite holiday!
Next up will be Halloween decorations!
Have you picked up any of the shades from the Essie Blue Moon Halloween 2020 collection? Do you have a favourite? What do you think about Like A Charm? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below & if you’ve already started decorating for Halloween! 🎃
