SWATCH SUNDAY — ORLY Total Eclipse (or is it…?)

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! Today is our second Sunday of January, & the winter blahs are in full effect. So I thought we needed some serious bling to brighten up our days! Today I decided to grab a shade from my stash I’ve had forever, but never actually worn.

ORLY Total Eclipse.

& that is where the mystery started — because according to my Google research, no polish called Total Eclipse by ORLY has ever existed!

3 coats, no top coat

You’re looking at three coats of this beautiful glitter. The base itself is clear, but packed full of tiny blue micro glitters & larger holographic glitters. I chose to brush the polish on, but obviously sponging would give you a more opaque application.

I would definitely probably apply this shade with sponging, or apply it over some undies, so that you don’t need as many applications, & it will be less difficult to remove.

So, I bet you’re wondering… if this isn’t called Total Eclipse, what is the name of this shade? Well after some intensive Veronica Mars-worthy sleuthing, & some reverse image searching on Pinterest, I am 95% sure this is actually ORLY Angel Eyes.

I had originally bought this shade (like a few other ORLY shades in my stash) via Marshall’s, who seemed to have a habit years ago of taking old shades, & renaming them. Hence the mystery! Usually when I put in the alternative name in to Google, it’ll pop up with the original… but not this time. Haha. It was definitely a bit of a quest to find out what the original name is.

But I’m glad I solved the mystery!

Over all, I really like this glitter, & I’m kind of sad I haven’t really tried it out until now. I’m also glad I figured out the true name of this beautiful sparkly blue!

What do you think of ORLY Angel Eyes? Do you have this shade in your collection? Let me know what you think about it, & how you would wear this glittery blue.

Minimalistic Marble

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday! We’re halfway through the first full week of 2021 & there have been no zombies or aliens yet, so things are feeling promising. For my first real nail art of this year, I was feeling some minimalist marble. Something that felt very clean & fresh, but with a little glitz.

This nail art actually reminds me a bit of a nail art look I did last year, even though it was totally unintentional haha. There is just something about marble that you can’t go wrong with!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Shiny Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Heather Hustle
  • Essie Bobbing for Baubles
  • Essence Rock My World!
  • L’Oréal Color Riche Blanc De Lune
  • Nailstuff.ca Gold Metallic Flakies (COFFEE10 to save 10%!)
  • Latex Free make up sponge.

I started this look off just by thinking I would do a simple sponge manicure, but the colour combination looked so much like marble, I decided I had to go with it! Naturally, that meant I needed to add a few of my gold foil flakes from NailStuff because they bring the whole look together! It’s also a little bit of sparkle against an otherwise monochromatic background.

I really love the overall look, so much I’ve been wearing these since Sunday night! I just haven’t wanted to take them off. They’re so pretty.

What do you think about this nail art look? Would you wear these marble nails? What nail art looks are you excited to try this year? I think this might be the year I try water marbling again… maybe 😂😂

SWATCH SUNDAY — Color Club The Uptown (The Original version & New!)

Hello lovelies & Happy Sunday! The first Swatch Sunday of 2021! I decided for today’s post I would do a comparison I’ve been meaning to do for a while: the comparison between the original version of Color Club The Uptown & the reformulation of the Uptown.

The original version of this shade, released I. 2013, was a beautiful jelly purple packed full of iridescent flakies. But at some point, like what seems to happen with all the best polishes, is they decided to take this perfect polish & reformulate it into a metallic purple with gold shimmer. So let’s take a look at both!

#GlamNailsChallengeDec — New Years Celebration

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday! We’ve officially made it — the last day of #GlamNailsChallengeDec! Can you believe it? That means we’re just a few days away from 2020 being the past, & hopefully 2021 will hold exciting things.

But first we need some New Years Eve nails! Today’s prompt is New Years Celebration, & I was inspired my fireworks! Who doesn’t love setting off fireworks on New Years Eve — my dad always used to set off a grand show during our yearly celebrations, & they make me so happy! I can’t wait until my kids are a bit older, & we can set a few fireworks off in our backyard at midnight. In the meantime, I’ll celebrate with my firework inspired waterfall look.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Shiny Top Coat
  • China Glaze New Year, New Boo
  • Essie Mosiac On Down
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Buffalo Nickel
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Five Golden Blings
  • Starrily Space Debris
  • NailStuff.ca 16mm Striper Brush (COFFEE10 saves you 10% on your purchase!)

Does that not totally look like cascading fireworks?! I love the waterfall look, & I haven’t done one in a while. I thought the combination of gold & silver over the navy blue would be the perfect New Years combination. & I got a ton of compliments on this look when I wore it to work, so I feel like I was successful!

This is probably one of my favourite New Years Eve looks I’ve ever done.

& with that, we’re officially done with #GlamNailsChallengeDec — which prompt was your favourite? Do you enjoy these challenges? Let me know in the comments below!

#GlamNailsChallengeDec — Christmas Presents

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday!

I’m super late posting these Christmas Present nails for #GlamNailsChallengeDec! I’ll blame it on a post Christmas sugar hangover haha. I can’t believe we’re already post-Christmas — this year is almost over. & we just have a few prompts left to go before this month (& year) is over!

Today’s look is definitely a simple one (again, post Christmas sugar hangover/exhaustion) but I think the simple pink ribbon over the holographic base is exactly how I would love to find all my presents under my tree.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Shiny Top Coat
  • ORLY Mirrorball
  • Color Club Art Club Pink Pastel

This is probably one of the easiest nail art designs I’ve done this whole prompt! All you need is a nail art striper, & a steady hand. They were super quick to do too! & the colour combinations are endless—works for Christmas, birthdays, anything holiday involving presents. & I just adore it!

What do you think about this quick & easy Christmas Present nails? Have you been keeping an eye on all the beautiful designs on Instagram for #glamnailschallengeDec? There is just one prompt left to go, so stay tuned!
