SWATCH SUNDAY — Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice

Oh my gosh, this post is so late going up! But better late than ever! Today’s Swatch Sunday post is an old Fall favourite of mine that has lived in my stash for a few years now: Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice.

Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice is a special edition polish that they release & re-release in the Fall as part of their Halloween collection. I googled it, & the first reference I could find was dated 2012. I purchased my bottle circa 2014. The polish itself is a clear base, full of gold & reddish orange glitters. For my swatches, I decided to apply it over a base of ORLY Color Blast Garnet–I did 2 coats of Pumpkin Spice over one coat of Garnet.

As you can see from my pictures & swatches, Pumpkin Spice is not a super dense glitter topped. Two coats still left the base shade visible. You could definitely build more opacity by sponging the glitter on. I definitely think that this glitter pops more over a dark base verses the red base, in person my nails looked a lot more glittery.

This is definitely a favourite Fall Polish for me & I am so darn ready for all things Fall. It’s officially September & it means I am ready. Bring on my knee high socks, plaid everything, cosy knits & Fall Polish collections. Goodbye Summer, it’s been fun.

As I mentioned above, Sinful Colors seems to re-release Pumpkin Spice as part of their Fall/Halloween collections, although I haven’t looked hard enough to see if it’s been release yet. I couldn’t find anything online about this year’s release, but we’re still pretty early. I feel like it will probably be re-released again, just because it seems to come back every year.

I guess we will have to wait & see!

Rifle Paper Co Phone Case Inspired Floral

Good morning lovelies & happy Tuesday… as happy as a Tuesday can be! Today I have some floral nails from a few weeks back to share. This design was inspired by a brand new phone case I picked up at Winners recently… a Rifle Paper Co phone case! & I was so excited by the pattern that I just had to recreate it on my nails!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Essie In the Cab-Ana
  • OPI Koala Berry
  • OPI My Chihuahua Bites
  • Essence The Green & The Grunge
  • Essie First Timer
  • Sinful Colours Amethyst
  • Essie Play Date
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sweet Tea
  • China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin
  • Sally Hansen I ♥️ Nail Art pen in black
  • Essie Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Lo
  • Small detail brush from Bundle Monster

I’m really, really loving this pattern. It’s been a little while since I rocked floral, so I’m was excited to break it out again. Especially since it’s already starting a feel a little Fall like in the morning, & I feel the call of cosy sweaters & jewel toned polishes already!

So what do you think of this floral design? Have you ever been inspired by a phone case? Share down below!

Pink & Purple Spring Floral

img_9199

Happy Friday Lovelies! Today is my last dedicated post for floral week… at least for now! I’ve been so about Spring this week & the weather the last couple days has flipped to be somewhat agreeable & sunny & only slightly chilly. I’ve even been able to wear a few of my dresses! I mean, with tights & boots… but it still counts! It just means we’re that much closer to the days where I can wear nothing but my pretty Spring dresses.

Today’s design is another floral featuring pink & purple. This design also turned out a little tropical to me which I’m really loving. I’m still trying to practice creating other flowers than roses–I’ve been doing roses so long they’re kind of easy for me, but other flowers aren’t as easy. Hopefully with practice, it’ll be just as simple. I dream of creating florals as beautiful as my floral idols @just1nail & @polishpeach. They just make it look so easy.

For this manicure, the polishes that I used were:

  • Base Coat: Quo by ORLY Breathable Kiss Me, I’m Kind
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Essence As Long As You Love Me
  • Icing Pink A Boo
  • Sinful Colours Amethyst
  • Essie Play Date
  • Sally Hansen I ♥ Nail Art Pen in Green
  • Essie Off Tropic
  • Sally Hansen I ♥ Nail Art Pen in Turquoise
  • Essie Strut You Stuff
  • Small & Large dotting tool from Bundle Monster
  • Small detail brush from Bundle Monster

This time of year is such a hard time for nail art inspiration which is why I think I love painting flowers. It gives me something to look forward to! Also it’s an excuse to pull out those Spring-y nail polish shades that have been sitting in my Melmer drawers all Winter, missing me. I’ve been dying over all the new Spring collections being released (especially China Glaze’s Chic Physique collection) so I can’t wait to treat myself with a few new shades… or you know, the whole collection if I happen to stumble across it at Winners.

So that’s it for floral week, although I already have a few more floral designs ready to show you in the next little while! Like I said, I just can’t get enough. I definitely had fun dedicating this whole week to my love for floral, & I can definitely see myself doing it again!

What do you think of this design? Have you enjoyed this entirely floral themed week? Would you like to see me do more of these themed posts? Let me know your thoughts below!

SWATCH SUNDAY — 6 Nail Polishes I’m Loving for Valentine’s Day!

Happy Sunday lovelies.

Since we’re into the first week of the month of love, I thought it would be fun to dedicate Swatch Sunday to some perfect polishes for Valentine’s Day. I own a lot of pink & red shades so I had fun going through my stash to find 6 polishes that I will definitely be loving this month in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day (okay & pretty much always because pink & red nail polish always have my heart). I actually did a post like this a few years ago, so I thought it would be fun to do another one!

So here are my 6 polish picks for Valentine’s Day 2018.

CHINA GLAZE — SEDUCE ME

Firtst up is China Glaze Seduce Me, a deep berry red that applies in 2 coats, although if you’re careful you might be able to get away with one careful coat. My bottle is pretty old, so I went with two. I chose this colour for Valentine’s Day because I feel like it’s a really grown up colour: it has pinkish undertones but it’s not bubblegum pink & it’s also not that classic candy apple red shade either. It’s a little bit different, & I honestly feel like this shade is one that will look great on everyone! It also pairs really well with other pink & reds for nail art (like some zig zag chevrons perhaps?)

L’OREAL VERNIS A L’HUILE — JARDIN DES ROSES

L’Oreal Jardin Des Roses is my first pink choice & it’s a pink I’ve really been loving lately. This is two coats for full coverage of this soft romantic pink & it applies really well. This pink is great because of how soft the colour is–you won’t look like you’re Barbie when you wear it.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN BEAUTY — ROUGE LOUBOUTIN

If you’re looking for a classic red to wear on Valentine’s Day, I feel like you don’t need to look any further than Christian Louboutin Beauty Rouge Louboutin! I received this beautiful red nail polish from a family friend the night before my wedding, & because it is so special to me I tend to save it for special occasions. I used two coats for coverage — it’s pretty good after one, but I wanted to make sure there was no hint of visible nail line. This is definitely the perfect classic red for a Valentine’s Day date, & if your significant other forgets about Valentine’s Day, you can always stab them with the bottle!

ACO BY ARDENE — BOUDOIR

Valentine’s Day is a special occasion, & sometimes I want a little glitter & Ardene Boudoir is a fun glitter choice. It a clear base stuffed full of berry glitters. I used 3 coats for my swatches (thank god for peel off base coat) but normally I would either apply it over top a complimentary shade or sponge the glitter onto my nail. You can build close to opacity though, although I couldn’t imagine the dry time. I just love the colour of the glitter in this polish–sometimes you just need to sparkle a little (or a lot)!

OPI — FIRE ESCAPE RENDEZVOUS

Next up we have OPI Fire Escape Rendezvous. This is 2 coats of this metallic ruby red polish with glitters–both shard glitter & hex glitter. The glitters are interesting, but I really dig them.  They give this polish an interesting texture which makes it unique, although I definitely prefer it top coated (Seche Vive). If you’re looking for something a little more than just red, this would be a great choice.

SINFUL COLORS — BLOOM BLAST FLOWER POWER

Last, but definitely not least, is Sinful Colors Bloom Blast in Flower Power. This milky pink shade is stuffed full of large & tiny matte pink metallic & white glitters. I belive it’s supposed to be worn on it’s own but I think it looks best over top other pink polishes. This is one coat over OPI Two Timing the Zones. How cute does this look? I know not everyone is a nail art person, so a topper like this is a great way of zazzing up your nails without having to worry about freehanding anything! It’s almost a dotticure without any of the work!

So those are the six polishes I’m loving for Valentine’s Day this year? What shades/polishes are your Valentine’s Day favourites? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below!

Halloween Glitter Gradient

Who else is super excited for October? I am! Obviously I love Fall & the fact the weather has cooled down to much more seasonable temperatures (I got to wear my Uggs the other day!) has me pumped for the month to come. Thanksgiving, my birthday, & especially Halloween! 🎃 October is full of lots of fun, & I’m ready for all the accompanying nail art designs. So I thought I would start off with a quick & easy Halloween-esque glitter gradient.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Diamond Flash
  • OPI Lincoln Park After Dark
  • Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice
  • Latex Free Make Up Sponge

Please excuse the bubbles in my mani… my top coat is reaching the end of its life & starting to get a little thick & bubbly. Thankfully the glitter hides a lot of the bubbles. Even still, I love this combo—it just screams Halloween to me without being too over the top! It’s also a super easy design that anyone can do without too much fuss.

Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice is such a great Fall glitter shade, & not just because it caters to my latte loving inner basic white girl! I bought my bottle a few (I think close to 3) years ago, but I saw it at my local Lawtons yesterday so definitely check in store if you’re looking for it! I believe it’s a seasonal shade that Sinful Colors releases every year.

I have a whole list of Halloween manicures I’m planning (thank you Pinterest!) so stay tuned for lots of fun nail art designs. Also still trying to come up with something fun to wear on my birthday. So if you have any design suggestions, let me know in the comments below!
