Sparkly Holo Purple Swirls

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday! I hope everyone’s week is off to a good & not too stressful start so far. I finally have a day off, which is very exciting — even if today seems to be the one day in the last, like 8, that isn’t beautiful & sunny.

Oh well. I do, however, have some fun & sparkly nails from a day which was very sunny! I wore these last week during a particularly sunny day, which was perfect to show off all the holo goodness.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Top Coat
  • Holographic Top Coat: Starrily Eclipse
  • Essence Colour & Go Little Lila Town
  • Color Club Art Club Pink Pastel
  • Colour Club Art Club Passion flower

Originally, I hadn’t planned on adding the holographic top coat, but I’m so glad that I did because it made the whole look feel complete. & it was just so much more fun! Definitely a fun Summer look.

Also, it’s reminding me of how much I love stripers. Don’t get me wrong, I love love love all my nail art brushes & they’re wonderful. But there is just something different about one of those striper polishes. I feel like I need to get some more, again. There is just certain times when those are the brushes I need in my life, & I keep forgetting that until I use one of my old ones again. Guess that means it’s time to take a little trip to Sally Beauty!

What do you think about this nail art look? Do you enjoy these holo purple stripes? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below, & if you’d wear this nail art look.

SWATCH SUNDAY — Joe Fresh Quartz

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! Hope you’re all having a beautiful & fantastic weekend so far. The weather here has been beautiful so far, & I got to enjoy a lovely Saturday off work (that never happens) so I’m feeling refreshed for the week ahead.

So lately I’ve been rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer — I’m on season 2. Which mean, obviously, I’ve been obsessing about her nail polish. In particular, I noticed this metallic grey shade she’s been wearing a lot this season. So I decided to take a look into my stash, & found this beautiful Joe Fresh shade I’ve owned since 2015-ish or so: Quartz.

3 coats + Essence Extreme GEL Top Coat

Yes, so this shade is pretty sheer upon first, & even second, application. I ended up with three thin coats for full opacity. However, they applied with minimal streaking & brushstrokes, so I was pretty happy with that. You can also apply this over a darker shade with lesser coats as well. I do believe that will bring out the duochrome effect a bit more dramatically as well.

A macro shot for good measure. The shift is very good on this shade, depending on which was you move your fingers. I love the purple to green shift on this — it’s beautiful.

But just for a fun, I thought I’d add a little sparkle to this beauty which has been in my stash just as long: CND Vinylux Dazzling Dance. This shade has a similar colouring, but with some added holo sparkle! & the results was perfect.

Adding Dazzling Dance definitely changed the switch from a greenish to a blue/silver, but I love the end result. That sparkle definitely makes up the duller duochrome shift. But I totally think this polish is giving me late 90s, early 2000s vibes & I’m totally here for it.

What do you think about this week’s Swatch Sunday pick: Joe Fresh Quartz. Do you prefer it on it’s own, or with the the added sparkle of CND Vinylux Dazzling Dance?

Glam Nails Challenge March — Flames 🔥

Hello lovelies & happy Monday!

A brand new week, (almost) a brand new month, & look at that… my nails are looking brand new too. Unfortunately, I had a pretty nasty break on my ring finger, so that means I’m back to rocking some serious shorties. But we have just two prompts left for Glam Nails Challenge March & I’m going to end this month strong!

The second to last prompt for this month is flames, which is a nail art design I have never, ever done. So I was both excited & nervous. Thankfully, I had some old flame nail vinyls, which made creating this look that much easier!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure Hardener
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Essie Watermelon
  • Starrily Eclipse
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Trouble Maker
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Blacky-O
  • NailStuff.ca 4mm Micro Detail Brush
  • URSugar Flame Nail Vinyls

How much fun are these holo flames? I was really feeling this base, & thought that this holo pink would be perfect for flames. I added the black tracing of the flames because I thought it would really emphasize the look of everything.

& I think it worked! The flames really pop against the nail. & I’m really happy with the outcome.

What do you think about these flame nails for Glam Nails Challenge March? Can you believe this month is almost over & we only have one prompt left?

SWATCH SUNDAY — Dimension Nails Hooded Seal & Snowy Owl (from The Arctic Collection)

•pr sample/gifted•

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! It’s another chilly, snowy Sunday here. I feel like I just keep repeating that over & over… but Spring has to come eventually, right?

Today I’m sharing some beautiful Dimension Nail swatches from their Arctic Collection. They’re kind of snowy, wintery shades, which I feel is perfect for this snowy Sunday. These beauties were recently gifted to me courtesy of NailStuff.ca, so I’m excited to show them off! I don’t think I’ve ever had a Dimension Nails polish that hasn’t been absolutely beautiful, & these shades are no exception.

For those who aren’t familiar with the brand, Dimension Nails is an indie nail polish brand that is 10+ chemical free, as well as being vegan & cruelty free.

Dimension Nails — Hooded Seal (The Arctic Collection)

2 coats, no Top Coat

First up, we have Hooded Seal, which is a beautiful & shimmery baby blue liner holo. The formula was smooth, & easy to apply. The first coat was a bit sparse, but the second coat built to great opacity.

The holo was really pretty on this. I have deeper, darker blues, but I don’t think I have any which are this pretty pale blue. I also like that it has this beautiful darker blue shimmer that you can capture in the right lighting.

Dimension Nails — Snowy Owl (The Arctic Collection)

2 coats, no Top Coat

Next up from the Dimension Nails Arctic Collection is another beautiful blue: Snowy Owl. This beautiful shimmery blue has a lovely shimmer of micro glitter which gives it a frosty finish. The formula on this one was a bit more sheer than Hooded Seal — I also applied 2 coats for coverage, but I feel like this one needed one more for complete opacity.

It’s definitely gorgeous on it’s own, but I could see it being equally lovely with one layer over another polish — white, grey, dark blue. I feel like you could definitely have some beautiful combinations.

What do you think about these two beauties from the Dimension Nails Arctic Collection? Do you have a favourite? Let me know in the comments below!

Both these shades were gifted to me c/o: NailStuff.ca! You can find the entire Arctic Collection available on her site (shipping available to both Canada & the USA) as well as other many of the other Dimension Nail collections!

Valentine’s Inspired Leopard Print 💗

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday!

Less than a week until Valentine’s Day, & I feel like I haven’t really done any related manicures this year. Usually there is at least one pink/red dotticure, haha. Kind of crazy! So I thought I would share this fun Valentine’s Day inspired leopard print design that I did recently.

& yes, this is another new holographic Color Club shade I recently picked up from Walmart because I’m obsessed.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Millionails
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Essie Ballet Slippers
  • Color Club Trick of the Trade
  • Sally Hansen I ❤️ Nail Art pen in Black
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

So turns out, trying to draw heart shapes & turn them into leopard spots is not as easy as I thought it would be — or as clear as what it’s supposed to be. But I think I was semi successful? I really like the pop of holo pink on the smooth, slightly milky base of Ballet Slippers. It really makes the holo pop!

I like that this look is Valentine’s Day, but swap out your pink for basically any other colour & it’s a good everyday look too. I always forget how much I love Leopard print on my nails, until I do it again.

What do you think about this Valentine’s Day inspired nail art look? Are you a big fan of this holiday? Honestly, I’ve never really been a huge fan, but I do love cinnamon hearts, Love Hearts, & any excuse to paint a theme on my nails.

If you’re looking for some Valentine’s Day nail art inspiration, I do have this post from a few years ago: 5 Cute Valentine’s Day Designs (inspired by Pinterest).

Have a great Tuesday!
