#GlamNailsChallengeFeb — Cow Print

Hello lovelies & happy Monday! Currently digging out from a whallop of a Winter storm, but I am super excited to share my manicure for the second prompt of GlamNailsChallenge: cow print.

Now I’ve done my fair share of leopard print nails in the past, & some bird feather looks. But I’ve never really branched out in attempts animal inspired designs. So I was a little uncertain about what to do for this look! But thanks to Pinterest, I found this peak a boo cow print look by @cates.nails (via Maniology) & knew it would be the perfect cow print look to do!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle
  • Top Coat: Essie Good to Go
  • Color Club Pucci-licious
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • Starrily Vantablack
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio (COFFEE10 saves you 10%!)

I really really like the black & white against the pop of colour. I haven’t worn Color Club Pucci-licious in a while, & it’s one of my all time favourite purple polishes, so it felt like the perfect base for this look. @cates.nails original manicure was done with a pink background, but I needed a little pink break haha.

Overall this was a relatively easy look to do. The hardest part was painting the white blocks of colour. For my cow print, I used a smaller dotting tool from my Nailstuff set, & tried to make the blobs look cow-y. My husband did guess right away what they were, so I feel like that is a plus!

Metallic Smooshy Nails

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday!

I hope everyone is having a lovely week so far. Today I have some more nail art to share with you that I recently did. I’ve been experimenting with different nail art techniques that I either haven’t done in a long time, or never tried. Today’s look is inspired by a technique by @grapefizznails — smooshy nails using a stamper!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Shiny Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen Nail Primer
  • Color Club Silver Lake
  • Color Club You’re My Soul-Matte
  • Color Club Matte About You
  • Color Club Put A Ring On It
  • Bodico small clear stamper
  • Silicone nail art mat

So I definitely love how these turned out, but I don’t think trying to do a marble look like this is easiest with matte shades, which I decided to use. They tend to try faster than non-matte shades, so you get more blob-ish smooshes instead of the delicate effect that I see in a lot of others smoosh looks. I’m going to try it out again for sure, with a different variety of polish formulas. I

t was definitely an easy look to do, which I always appreciate, & I always love seeing other people’s smooshy nails, so I’m dedicated to nailing this technique! I’m already imagining one using a Valentine’s Day inspired colour scheme.

What do you think about this nail art look? Do you enjoy smooshy nail art looks? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below, & share any other nail art techniques you would like to see me try out!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Color Club The Uptown (The Original version & New!)

Hello lovelies & Happy Sunday! The first Swatch Sunday of 2021! I decided for today’s post I would do a comparison I’ve been meaning to do for a while: the comparison between the original version of Color Club The Uptown & the reformulation of the Uptown.

The original version of this shade, released I. 2013, was a beautiful jelly purple packed full of iridescent flakies. But at some point, like what seems to happen with all the best polishes, is they decided to take this perfect polish & reformulate it into a metallic purple with gold shimmer. So let’s take a look at both!

#GlamNailsChallengeDec — Christmas Presents

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday!

I’m super late posting these Christmas Present nails for #GlamNailsChallengeDec! I’ll blame it on a post Christmas sugar hangover haha. I can’t believe we’re already post-Christmas — this year is almost over. & we just have a few prompts left to go before this month (& year) is over!

Today’s look is definitely a simple one (again, post Christmas sugar hangover/exhaustion) but I think the simple pink ribbon over the holographic base is exactly how I would love to find all my presents under my tree.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Shiny Top Coat
  • ORLY Mirrorball
  • Color Club Art Club Pink Pastel

This is probably one of the easiest nail art designs I’ve done this whole prompt! All you need is a nail art striper, & a steady hand. They were super quick to do too! & the colour combinations are endless—works for Christmas, birthdays, anything holiday involving presents. & I just adore it!

What do you think about this quick & easy Christmas Present nails? Have you been keeping an eye on all the beautiful designs on Instagram for #glamnailschallengeDec? There is just one prompt left to go, so stay tuned!

Cozy Plaid & Reindeer Nails

Happy Monday Lovelies!

Hope everyone is having a nice start to their week so far. I’ve already enjoyed a nice vegan nog latte, & got our shopping for the next few weeks done. Today, I have some more festive nails to share with you, this time inspired by an older manicure by an older manicure by @nbnailart (which I rediscovered via Pinterest.) I really really liked the mix of the plaid, & the gold & the reindeer head, so I decided to create my own version of it!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Orly Decades of Dysfunction
  • Essie After School Boy Blazer
  • Essie Mosaic On Down
  • Color Club Art Club Pink Pastel
  • Unnamed Kozmic Kolours Pink (from Dollarama)
  • NailStuff.ca 16mm Striper Brush (COFFEE10 to save 10!)
  • Born Pretty Store Stamping plate BP-L032 (item #23268)
  • NailStuff.ca Clear Stamper

First off, I’m really feeling this colour combination, which gives me cosy Winter vibes. While I’m definitely feeling the shift towards holiday & Christmas inspired nail art, I don’t want to go Full Christmas just yet (aka red & green everything) so I feel like this colour scheme is a good start. You still get holiday vibes, without going overboard. That being said, I’m still going to be adding coconut Nog to my coffee & listening to Glee Christmas albums on repeat haha.

Second, I am really in love with how this plaid turned out. I always feel like my plaid attempts can get a little busy, so I was impressed with how these turned out following the original. Definitely how I’m going to be approaching my plaid nails from now on! & I will totally be doing a green & red plaid using this method…. soon. Probably after December 1st.

What do you think about this design? What Christmas/Winter/Holiday designs are you planning on doing this year? With the world being so scary, & uncertain, I’m definitely going to spend a good amount of time calming my brain by coming up with fun looks to share! I don’t know if I’ll be able to do 1 a day, but I’m hoping to do a great variety for the month of December, plus GlamNailsChallengeDecember, so stay tuned!
