SWATCH SUNDAY — People of Color Creme de la ‘Mel

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! It’s a chilly, snowy Sunday here on the East Coast. We had big, messy Winter storm Friday night into Saturday, so it’s feeling like full on Winter again. But that’s okay, because not only do a I have a new shade to share with you for this week’s Swatch Sunday, but it’s my first time using a brand I’ve been following for a while: People of Color!

As per tradition, my Mum gave me a Winners gift card for Christmas, so I’ve been stalking the nail polish selection since then. During a recent trip, I saw a few People of Color nail shades for sale, so I decided to needed to pick one up. My pick — Creme de la ‘Mel, a beautiful peachy neutral that I thought would be perfect for my skin tone.

2 coats, no top coat

When it comes to a nude polish, it’s important for it to be smooth, self levelling, & apply in minimal coats — no more than 2 if possible. Creme de la Mel meets all those needs, & looks absolutely beautiful doing it.

The formula is smooth, so it glides onto the nail easy, & I had easy coverage in 2 coats without much trouble. The brush was also easy to work with, so I got a relatively clean line at the cuticle. Opacity is easy to build, with minimal struggle. Over all, it’s a very clean, beautiful colour.

I ended up wearing this as a base for nail art, but I would definitely love this nude on it’s own, or with a little sprinkling of glitter for a minimalist manicure. It’s a very pretty neutral which matches my skin tone (which is naturally olive) very nicely.

I also love the message of the brand, & how it’s all about inclusion & representing people of colour with their brand. I think it’s a wonderful message, & I’m very happy to support a brand who wants to be able to curate to all skin colours.

What do you think of Creme de la ‘Mel by People of Color? Do you have any of their polishes in your stash? You can buy People of Color nail polishes directly via their website. As well, according to their site, they can be found at Urban Outfitters, & Lord & Taylor — I also found my at my local Winners, so I would definitely check out your own Winners or Marshalls stores to see if you can find any in store.

Have a lovely Sunday darlings!
