SWATCH SUNDAY — Color Club Pucci-licious

Good morning lovelies & happy Sunday!

I hope everyone’s day is off to a great start & that your first week of 2023 has been lovely. It’s finally kind of looking like Winter here in my part of the East Coast, so naturally that means I’m feeling the complete opposite with this week’s Swatch Sunday pick.

I’ve been in a serious purple mood lately. The last 4/5 of my manicures have a purple theme (& I have another one ready to go!) So naturally when picking this week’s Swatch Sunday pick I wanted to keep the trend going. & one of my all time favourite purples?

Color Club Pucci-licious.

2 coats + Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat

I’m not going to lie, I’m actually surprised I haven’t picked this shade to swatch yet. It’s absolutely one of my all time favourite purple polishes.

Color Club Pucci-licious was originally released as part of the Poptastic collection, but then made its way into the permanent line up. The polish itself is a cool toned vibrant purple cream. On its own it’s quite glossy, but I did add top coat to mine as I was adding some crackle overtop.

I used two easy coats for my swatches, & it was perfectly levelled with the second coat.

As you can see from the top of my bottle, I bought this guy at my local Lawton’s in the clearance section. However, you can still find this guy for sale on the Color Club Website so I don’t think he’s been discontinued (thank goodness!) It’s also available via NailPolishCanada.com — on sale! — so that’s a good option as well.

The shades look much different on the two sites, but they’re definitely the same polishes. That’s kind of the thing about photographing Pucci-licious—depending on your lighting when photographing it, it can look very different. I did my best to capture my swatches as close as real life as possible!

What do you think about Color Club Pucci-licious? Do you own this beauty of a shade in your own nail polish stash? L

et me know all your thoughts, & what colours your currently wearing to get you through the January blahs.

Have a lovely Sunday! 🖤

Easy Galaxy Nails ( With Magnetic Polish)

Hello beauties & happy Thursday! We’re almost one full week into 2023 & its kind go crazy to think about. & it actually looks like Winter today, which I think is the first real snowfall we’ve had so far that wasn’t more than a dusting. Now if only it could have come like 2 weeks ago before Christmas, haha.

Today we’ve got our second nail art look of the year.

I’ve recently been going through my stash, looking at old shades I haven’t touched in a while. We all know magnetic polishes are having a serious moment right now on Instagram, so I decided to pull out one of my old school magnetic shades from China Glaze to test it out with the Starrily magnetic I got from NailStuff.ca & see what kind of effect it would have on it. & from that, I realized how perfectly it would be as a base for a galaxy design! So here are my super easy magnetic galaxy nails!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
  • China Glaze Magnetix Instant Chemsitry
  • China Glaze Fairy Dust
  • China Glaze Public Relations
  • Starrily Magnet (C/o: Nailstuff.ca)
  • NailStuff.ca Mermaid Tail Nail Brush Trio (11mm Liner Brush)

Originally my plan was just to wear the shade on its own, as I loved the effect the magnet had on it. But then I was like “I wonder what Fairy Dust would look over this?” From there I realized how much it looked like a galaxy, so I added a few dark silver stars.

Instant galaxy.

These are definitely the easiest galaxy nails I’ve ever created, & definitely the least time consuming. This is definitely making me want to go through all the magnetic polishes I’ve collected over the years & test them out with the Starrily magnet to see what it creates. The old magnets that came with these shades usually created patterns, but I’m much more fond of this like way.

What do you think about this easy galaxy design? Is this a look you could see yourself recreating? Let me know if this look is one making you want to dig out your own magnetic polishes, or any other thoughts you have down in the comments below!

Soft Matte Half Moons

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday! I hope everyone’s had a good start to the year so far. It’s been relaxing on my end, that’s for sure. But now it’s time to drive right back into all things nail polish, nail art & manicures in general. I was kind of trying to figure out what kind of vibe I wanted to start off 2023 with, & I decided to let my nostalgia win with not only a half moon manicure… but a matte half moon manicure.

Two of my favourite things combined into one.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
  • Matte Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat
  • Zoya Devin
  • Essence Into the Unknown
  • Paper Hole Reinforcements

I was on instagram early into Fall, & I saw someone post that half moon manicures were going to become popular again, & all I could think was “I never stopped doing them”.

These have always been a favourite nail art look of mine, & I just find it such an easy technique to do. But I really, really love this look with the matte top coat applied as the finishing touch. Matte nails are my absolute favourite in the Winter months, so expect lots of matte nails in the coming months.

What do you think of this nail art look? Are you a fan of the half moon design? Let me know what you think, & what nail art trends for 2023 you’re excited to try!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Zoya Devin

Hello lovelies & happy 2023!

I hope everyone had a lovely New Years Eve whether you spent it partying it up, cuddled up on the couch, or sleeping through it. I personally got to spend my New Years with one of my best friends — who I haven’t seen in over3 years! We spent like 2 hours laughing on the couch, & it was the best way to end the year.

Now we’re starting off a fresh year with Swatch Sunday. I decided to pull out a beautiful Zoya shade that has been sitting in my stash for a while. This is Zoya Devin, originally released for Fall 2018.

3 coats, no top coat.

Zoya Devin is a stunning metallic frosty steel blue with this intense. Without top coat, it dries to a smooth finish. It’s not matte, but it’s also not shiny. The polish itself is really interesting, but as you look closely you see it has hints of bronze & silver glitters. The shade itself is giving me Y2k vibes, which is very trendy right now, & as a millennial, gives me so much nostalgia! I feel like if this shade had existed when I was a young teen, I would have obsessively worn it a lot.

Up close, you can really see all the different metallic shades & it gives it a very cool finish. Definitely the kind of shade which doesn’t catch your eye as much from a far — you need to see it up close to really appreciate its beauty. I also think, even though it was originally released as a Fall shade, it’s very appropriate for the winter months as well! It has that iciness to it that is great for Winter.

Application was interesting — it was definitely very thin on first coat, & even a second coat seemed to be a bit thin & sparse. With the third coat though, the colour came across as beautiful as in the bottle, & I was very happy. It looks so pretty!

I picked up this bottle of Zoya Devin on sale on NailPolishCanada.com last Fall (I do believe) but from the looks of things it’s no longer available on there. I did however find it listed on the Zoya website, so if you want this beauty in your life, that would be the place to get it!

What do you think of this metallic beauty? Are you a fan of Zoya polishes? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below, & once again Happy 2023! I am very excited for all the things that this year has in store.

New Years Eve Golden Dotticure ✨

Hello Beauties & happy New Years Eve! I told you I would sneak in one more manicure before the year was over. Obviously, it being New Years Eve, I needed to give it my all, & decided to go with gold, silver & black for the full effect.

I also didn’t want to go too crazy because I am still exhausted from working through Christmas, & honestly by 10pm I’m just wrecked. So I decided to go with a classic dotticure… but with a NYE twist.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
  • OPI Rolling in Cashmere
  • Essie Hors d’Oeuvres
  • Starrily Vantablack
  • Dotting tool (I always use mine from NailStuff.ca — Dotting Tool Trio)

I like how I flipped the colours I would usually do. Normally, I would go with black (or another darker colour) as my base, & use the lighter colours as my dots. But I thought I needed more gold & silver, so I decided to use it as my base instead, & use black as my accent… & I love how it turned out! Very glam, with a hint of glitter. Perfect for New Years Eve celebrations, both over the top, & simple.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who has visited this blog, liked my designs, & especially commented this last year! You make it worth it to keep posting, & make me excited to keep posting — especially as other social media changes so much! 2022 was a fantastic year for me, albeit challenging & full of change, but this blog was my happy place to come to, & I’m very excited to see what 2023 has in store!

Have a happy New Year Lovelies! Wishing everyone peace, calm, & joy.
