Glam Nails Challenge August—Raspberry

Good Morning loves! & happy Wednesday!

Hope everyone’s week is off to a not too bad start — the weather here on the East Coast is sticky & hot, which doesn’t help my PSL-craving-Autumn-loving heart. But even if I can’t wear knee high socks & boots, & scarves yet… at least I can wear some Fall colours on my nails. Which pairs perfectly with today’s prompt for GlamNailsChallengeAugust: Raspberries!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Insta-dri Zip Wine
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear With The Beet
  • Sally Hansen Insta-dri Cinna-Snap
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Blush Around The World
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Daycream
  • YSL Beauty Vert D’Orient
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Wet My Thistle
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio
  • NailStuff.ca 7mm detail brush

Okay, so I’ll just address it: I know my raspberries look a bit more like grapes, than raspberries but I don’t care haha. The girls at work told me it was because I went with such a dark shade (Sally Hansen Zip Wine) but I just had to wear this shade because it’s so pretty! I’ve been on a bit of a Fall polish polish buying splurge lately.

Either way, I do think this look is cute! I went with accent nails because it kind of reminds me of floral from away. So it’s a win in my books — even if some people thought it was grapes haha.

What do you think about this raspberry design? Can you believe we only have one prompt left after this? August has just sped by so quickly. But I’m definitely looking forward to September, & all things Fall related.

Glam Nails Challenge August — Grapes 🍇

Hello lovelies & happy Monday!

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. We’re currently experiencing a big time heat wave here on the East Coast, but thankfully my work had the air conditioning cranked which kept my from completely melting into a big puddle. I love heat, but man the humidity is not my friend.

Today we’ve got the next prompt for Glam Nails Challenge August is grapes! I decided to go with a darker grape inspired look & created my grapes on my two accent nails.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Pat on the Black
  • Sally Hansen CSM Trouble Maker
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Feelin’ Grape
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Lacy Lilac
  • Essie Off Tropic
  • Essence The Green & the Grunge
  • Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Thyme is Money
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio
  • NailStuff.ca 7mm detail brush

How cute are these grape accent nails? I actually love how they turned out! I was inspired by this Pinterest design I found, originally done by @nailsbydaniellet. I (think) hers were supposed to be blackberries, haha, but I didn’t realize until after she inspired by grapes. I do think they turned out super cute, & all my coworkers knew exactly what they were, so I’ll take that as a win!

What do you think about this grape inspired look? Are you following along with #glamnailschallengeaug on Instagram? Let me know what you think of the designs so far this month. I can’t believe we’re already half way through the month — that’s crazy!

Have a great day lovelies!

Glam Nails Challenge August — Blueberries

Good Morning lovelies & happy Wednesday. We’re already halfway to the weekend! & we’re already on our second prompt for Glam Nails Challenge August!

As I mentioned in my previous post, I decided to take on a challenge for this month to inspire me to get out of my rut. The challenge this month is fruit themed, & I don’t think I’ve attempted that many fruit themed designs over the years, so I’m very excited for the challenge.

Today’s prompt is blueberries, & my design was inspired by @brydiedoesnails! I was obsessed with her blueberry & daisy design, so I decided to do my own spin on it.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • OPI After Alter
  • Essie Gel Couture Princess Charming
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Royal Hue
  • Sally Miracle Gel Beatnik
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod!
  • OPI Just Can’t Cope-acabana
  • Cosmetics Arts Lime Green (no name)
  • Essie Off Tropic
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio
  • NailStuff.ca 7mm detail brush

How freaking adorable did these blueberries turn out? I never thought of doing floral & fruit, but it turned out so perfect.

This look was surprisingly easy to do—easier than I thought it would be—& the end result turned out beautiful. I don’t think that blueberries will replace my usual floral favourites, but it’s so much fun to switch things up once in a while! Because this is a look I definitely wouldn’t have thought up on my own, without a little encouragement!

How are we feeling about this challenge so far? Do you love these blueberry nails as much as I do? Let me know all your thoughts, & keep track of everyone’s nail art looks by checking out #glamnailschallengeaug on Instagram!

Recreating Tribal Roses (from 5 years ago)

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday! The weekend is almost upon us — & so is August! How crazy is that? We’re almost in the last month of Summer. I swear this year is rushing by way faster than 2020 did. I feel like Summer just started, & now Fall collections are already popping up in the stores. & I’ve already started thinking about what Fall fashion items I want to add to my closet…

But in the mean time, let’s concentrate on nails. More importantly, this tribal & roses design which is actually a recreation of a design I did 5 years ago. This time, though, I decided to go with a reverse colour scheme with the darker shade as my base, & the white for my line work.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Beatnik
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod!
  • Essie Stop Drop Shop
  • Essie Gel Couture Princess Charming
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure So Much Fawn
  • Sally Hansen I ❤️ Nail Art pen in green
  • Cosmetics Arts Lime Green (name has long since worn off)
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio
  • NailStuff.ca 7mm detail brush
  • NailStuff.ca 16mm Striper Brush

How lovely is this combination? The beautiful blue, the line work — that I’m very, very proud of! — & the cute, cute roses. I feel like I did a very good job of recreating my original design, but making it even better! These turned out better than I ever could have imagined. Also the white pops so we’ll over Sally Hansen Beatnik, as does the floral. Just everything about this look makes me so happy.

It just feels so good to be getting back to my roots, & doing my favourite kinds of nail art again. Feels like I’m me again! Also, while having short nails is always a nice change, I’m very happy to have returned to my rounded my nails again. They’re so much more me.

What do you think about this look? Did a do a good job recreating my original? Let me know what you think down in the comments below, & let me know if you’d like to see me do more of these posts recreating old manicures!

Pastel Rainbow Accent Nail (with Sally Hansen Rainbow Lights)

{Features Gifted Product}

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday!

Today I have done pretty rainbow nail art to share with you, inspired by the new Sally Hansen Rainbow Lights collection! I’m really, really loving this new collection, & the pastel shades, so I was inspired to create this swirly rainbow accent nail. This is also super easy nail art that I feel anyone with a mail art brush could create this look!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Shiny Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Crying Out Cloud
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Tutu The Ballet
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sweet Pea
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sun-shower
  • OPI I Snow You Love Me
  • NailStuff.ca 16mm Striper Brush

Look how cute that accent nail is? Like I said in my Swatch Sunday post, I really love the pastel rainbow shades. & I really love how all these shades compliment each other so well! I also wanted to add a few rhinestones to my nails, but since I was wearing this to work & didn’t want rhinestones popping off in people’s coffees, I decided to pull out my bottle of OPI I Snow You Love Me! This polish has always been a favourite because of the tiny round holographic glitters. A great rhinestone alternative.

What do you think about this pastel rainbow accent nail? Would you create easy nail art like this? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below!
