SWATCH SUNDAY — Essie You Do Blue 🩵

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! A beautiful, sunny Sunday. It’s been feeling like Spring (most of) this week, so I thought something Spring-y on my nails would be perfect. & what is more Spring-y than a beautiful periwinkle blue?

Without further ado, this is Essie You Do Blue.

2 coats + top coat.

The formula on this creamy blue is smooth & easy to apply to the nail. I am quite a fan of the wider Essie brushes they’ve been using in the last few years. It took me a bit to get used to them, but they are much better when it comes to application.

My favourite part of this polish, though, is that is has this gorgeous fuchsia shimmer that really pops in the sunshine. It gives the extra dimension that makes it a little extra special, & for me that makes this shade a winner. I own a lot of blue nail polishes, but the ones that have shimmer or sparkle added — especially unexpected ones — are always the ones I reach for first!

This shade was originally released, as far as I can tell, during early 2020 as part of the Flying Solo collection. I think after that it made it to the core collection, but I did pick up mine on clearance for $1 so I’m thinking it may not be in regular circulation anymore — although the Essie website does have it listed as available for sale so I could be totally wrong.

Over all, I’m totally obsessed with this colour — it’s not just the pretty periwinkle blue, but that stunning shimmer. I adore it.

What do you think of Essie You Do Blue? Do you think this shade screams Spring as much as I do? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below, & let me know your thoughts on this pretty blue shade!

Happy Sunday!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Essie No More Film

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! Can you believe this is the last Sunday of October — where has the month gone?! It’s kind of crazy we only have 2 months left (basically) of 2025. &, I don’t know about you, but I’m very ready to say goodbye to this year. It has been the most difficult one for so many people, & I’m just hoping we can coast by until 2026 wifh minimal drama.

Today, let’s concentrate on nails though — shall we. I was feeling a navy blue, one of my favourite non-reds to go to, & this one basically just jumped out of my stash begging to be worn!

This is Essie No More Film.

2 coats + top coat

This sadly discontinued polish is described by Essie as a “seductive deep violet” & I would wager that’s a fair description of this shade. From far away, it looks almost black, but when you get up close you see that it’s actually a deep dark blurple.

If you didn’t know this abojt me — I’ve been in a serious, long term relationship with Essie’s dark blues/purples — After School Boy Blazer, Under the Twilight, Kimono Over — just to name a few. Next to red, it’s one of my favourite shades to wear.

Application was super smooth on this manicure, which is impressive because this bottle is at least 6-7 years old — maybe older I’m not 100% sure. After a good shake, it applied flawlessly, which I couldn’t be happier about as she is long discontinued.

What do you think about Essie No More Film? Do you have this shade in your own collection? What do you think about the dark violet shade? Let me know all your thoughts about this gorgeous Essie shade.

Happy Sunday

Teal Ombré Nails

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday. I hope everyone is having a beautiful Summer day on this last week of July. Truly crazy how quickly this Summer is slipping by, but I’m trying my best to enjoy it. However — only 27 days until Starbucks releases their PSL, which we all know is the official start of Autumn haha.

Today though I have a cute simple nail art look to share. It’s been absolute ages since I last shared an ombre skittle look. so I thought it was time to pull it out again. The colour scheme was inspired by my 8 year old who told me I should wear teal nails. What do you think — did I nail it?

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter Top Coat
  • Base Coat: China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifier
  • Essie Mint Candy Apple (pinky)
  • Essie In The Cab-Ana
  • Essie Off Beat Chic *pr
  • Essie Revenge’s A Beach
  • Essie Garden Variety

I’ve always loved these ombre tone skittles because they’re just to easy. The hardest part is just pairing the colours together, & making sure you have that light to dark effect on your nails. Surprisingly — okay, maybe not so surprising — I had enough Essie’s to easy accomplish this look.

What do you think of this simple teal ombre skittle look? Are you a fan of these Muti shade designs? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below, & which colour you would rock an ombre look like this using!

Happy Wednesday.
