Burgundy Drag Marbles

Hello loves & happy Tuesday! Today I’m sharing a fun drag marble design with you.

It’s been a while since my last drag marble look, so I was excited to grab a few Autumn colours to create a fun look. As you can probably tell from my last post, I’m really loving maroon/dark red/burgundy shades right now. & you know what goes really well with burgundy? Gold. Especially rose gold!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

Base Coat: Still wearing gel to protect my natural nails right now.
Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
Quo by ORLY The Antidote
Quo by ORLY Barely There
Quo by ORLY Soul Sister
Fan Brush (Mine is an old Bundle Monster Brush)

For this marble, I decided to use a fan brush to as it’s a bit simpler than using a dotting tool/toothpick to apply the polish. Basically I start off by painting my nails my base colour (Quo by ORLY The Antidote) & then applied dots of all three polishes (The Antidote, Barely There & Soul Sister) on my nail, & used my fan brush to drag the polish together along my nail to create the marble look. It also is a lot less messy than a lot of marble techniques, which is great (especially since red polish is not easy to clean up around cuticles!)

My nails having been taking a hit lately, so I feel good pulling out my Quo by ORLY Breathable shades again. I love this line because it feels like I’m giving my nails a break, even when I’m wear nail art. In fact, I need to go buy two new shades I saw at Shoppers Drug Mart that I think would be amazing for Fall/Winter nail art, all while keeping my nails taken care of.

Fall Ombré

Hello lovelies & Happy Wednesday! I don’t know about where you are, but here in Halifax the weather is already starting to have that gorgeous Fall chill. It also has me thinking about Fall Manicure ideas, & one design I’ve been seeing pop up on my Instagram feed is the ombré look. A few years ago, ombré designs were super popular, & one of my favourites. So I can’t lie, I’m so pumped that ombré nails are making me a resurgence!

For those wondering the difference between an ombré & a gradient, an ombré is when you wear a different colour on each nail, while a gradient blends a few colours together on each nail.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

Base Coat: Currently wearing soak off gel to grow out my natural nail.
Top Coat: Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat
Cosmetic Arts Baby Pink (no name)
L’Oréal Jardin Des Roses
Kosmic Colours dusty dark pink (no name)
ORLY Red Rhapsody
Essie Carry On
Wet n Wild 2% Milk (to make my pinky & ring finger look more dusky)

I’ve done a few ombré manicures over the years in different colour schemes, but I was really feeling something dusky, in the rose family. This combination really felt like it suited our increasingly Autumn-like weather. On my pinky & ring finger, I applied 2% milk over my lighter pink shades so they would match closer with the rest of my colours.

Ah, this makes me so happy! I’m so glad that this design has come back into rotation & is cool again. Not that I care that much about being trendy — my love of crackle nail polish will attest to that — but it certainly gives me a great excuse to wear multiple shades at once.

(Like I need any excuse to paint my nails!)

Fall Themed Dotticure 🍁🍂

Good morning lovelies! Hope everyone is having a lovely start to their week! We are finally heading home after 2 weeks on vacation, as the Hurricane that hit Nova Scotia pushed back our travels.

I have one more look from my vacation to share with you. I had to bring my China Glaze Gone West Shades with me, so I created a cute & easy dotticure.

Still obsessing over this collection & how well all the polishes come together. I have some great ideas for manicures coming up! & now that the days are definitely feeling cooler, my obsession with Fall shades is totally justified.

Nothing like a fun polka dot design for quick & easy nail art look! I know I say it every time, but dotticure designs were one of the first real “nail art” looks that I started to play around with, & because of that they will always be a favourite! They are just so versatile, & you could do one every day & never have it look the same.

Gorgeous Galaxy Nails 🌌

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday! Today I have what might possibly be my favourite & most gorgeous nail art ever to share with you.

Today’s look is a galaxy design, which I haven’t done in over two years! After browsing all my duo & multichrome polishes (while thinking about my favourite Fall shades), I decided it would be fun to pair a few in a galaxy design. 🌌 & oh boy did it turn out beautiful!

Look at the close up & those glitters! How gorgeous! It really does look like some far off galaxy.

I always forget how easy Galaxy nails can be until I start doing them. I love the fat they don’t have to be perfectly crafted, you kind of just go in with your collection of colours & see how they turn out, maybe adding some polka dots for stars. I actually created a tutorial for galaxy nails in the very early days of my blog which can be found here. I will definitely say that the longer your nails are, the better your galaxies will turn out.

Again, just check out that close up action & those glitters! Have you ever seen anything more beautiful? I’m just so, so happy with how this design turned out. Which, let’s be honest you can probably tell because I took about 1000 pictures of this look to share!

I just can’t stop staring… why has it taken me so long to do another galaxy design? I never want to take these off!

Rainbow Glitter Gradient (Party on my Nails!)

Hello lovelies! Hope everyone is having a fantastic week so far. I’m super excited today because I finally did something other than just a single colour on my nails! 🎉 I managed to add a fun glitter gradient to my Swatch Sunday shade for this week & I’m loving how much fun this simple nail art turned out!

Seeing as it is Pride Week here in Halifax, I thought a colourful rainbow glitter gradient would be perfect for the occasion.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

Base Coat: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Strengthening Base Coat
Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
ORLY Fireball
China Glaze Point Me To The Party
ACO by Ardene DAFUQ

I know I’ve written before my love for glitter gradients–they’re just so easy to do! & for those of us who might not have a lot of time, they can give you fun & fancy nails with minimal effort.

For this look, I started with my base colour & then took my first glitter (China Glaze Point Me To The Party) & after brushing off some of the polish, started at my cuticle line & brushes the glitter upwards. I went over the same spot a few times to build up the glitter amount. Finally I decided that we needed some blue, so I grabbed a blue glitter topper (ACO by Ardene DAFUQ) & dabbed on some blue glitters as well. Lastly, I sealed everything in with a thick coat of Essie Gel Setter to give this look some lasting power.

& now my nails are ready to party! 💅🏻

I’m really digging the combination of Fireball with this glitter. Makes me think of a fiesta, & feels very Summer-y to me. & even though I won’t be able to partake in any of the amazing Pride events happening this week, my nails are totally ready (just in case).
