SWATCH SUNDAY — China Glaze IDK

Hello lovelies! Getting in under the wire with a last minute Swatch Sunday post! It was sunny ☀️ today, so you know what that means — HOLO! & for today’s holo pick, I decided to grab a Polish I have yet to wear: China Glaze IDK! This purple holo was released last year as part of the China Glaze OMG Flashback collection & came into my life courtesy of @helloluli_ who sent me a whole slew of gorgeous polishes, including the majority of the OMG collection! & I am sad it took me this long to wear.

For my swatches, I did Base Coat, two coats of polish & finished everything with glossy top coat. In the bottle, the polish is very pretty. It’s not until you put it on your nails that the holo really comes through though! I was actually so impressed with the rainbow shift you get on the nail. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t kept getting distracted by staring at my nails.

Ugh, so pretty! Like just look at those rainbows. & even more exciting is this shade of purple is different than one of my other favourite purple holos Color Club Eternal Beauty.

& because you can’t truly appreciate it until you see it in the sunshine, a shot of my nails on our adventures today! It was so warm today & I got to wear a dress with bare legs. It was a very exciting day & I’m so happy for Spring to be here. Bring on all the holo!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Essie Fifth Avenue

Good morning & happy Sunday! Today I’m making an attempt to return to my regular Swatch Sunday posts. Today’s polish pick: Essie Fifth Avenue which is a coral-ly red polish. As I’ve mentioned a million times, I adore a good red polish & it used to be the only shade I wore during my university years. So whenever I see a good red polish (especially when it’s on sale!) I can’t help but pick it up.

I found this particular polish tucked into the clearance section of my local pharmacy for a mere .99 cents, so obviously I needed it. From my understanding & Google research though, this shade does appear to be part of the permanent Essie collection.

For my swatches, all I needed was two coats of polish (over Base Coat, always) & then topped with my top coat to seal everything in.

One reason why this shade is quickly becoming a favourite is because it covers full in only 2 coats, with no visible nail line. That makes me so happy, which is probably why I’ve been wearing this shade A LOT! In fact, it’s been my pedicure shade of choice for the last month.

This is such a nice, bright red & it makes me so happy. Red is such a classic shade–you can never go wrong with it! & a bright corally red like this is even more perfect for Spring & Summer!

SWATCH SUNDAY — China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise

Good morning lovelies & welcome to another rendition of Swatch Sunday. Today’s polish is brought to you by my 2 year old who decides what colour I needed to wear. & his pick? China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise!

Turned Up Turquoise is a neon shade that dries to a very matte finish. For my swatches, I applied 2 coats over my base. The coverage was perfect but like any matte shade, it gets a little goopy the older it gets because matte polishes do dry faster than regular (in my experience) & my bottle is going on 5 years old.

Usually I apply a glossy top coat to my matte shades & then finish with a coat of matte top coat, but I really wanted to show off the true finish of this shade. As you can see, it dries down pretty well on its own, although it doesn’t hide the rough state of my current nails. If I was wearing this for a while, I would definitely top coat it & then either add my matte top coat or leave it glossy.

& speaking of glossy, I had to add some top coat to show off how gorgeous Turned Up Turquoise looks with Essie Speed Setter added.

As you can see, glossy top coat really adds to the shine of this shade. It also shows off the shimmer that gets kind of hidden when it’s matte. But honestly–I love this polish either way! It’s so pretty while left matte & it’s gorgeous when glossy.

My only complaint about this shade? It’s just so hard to photograph the true colour! It’s slightly more green-ish than you see in my photos, but from browsing the Internet I don’t think anyone can capture the shade truly. I think that just comes with it being a neon, as neon polishes can be difficult to photograph.

So what do you think of this shade? Do you have it in your polish collection? Which do you prefer — glossy or left matte? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments below!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Revlon Cherries in the Snow

Good morning, & happy February. Can you believe we are already a month into this year? It’s crazy! & it also means it’s time to start thinking about Valentine’s Day nails. We all know Red is one of my favourite nail polish shades to wear, so I always have a wide variety of polish picks when it comes to the love-iest day of the year. ♥️

& I’m honour of that, I thought I would pull out one of my lovely red shades Cherries in the Snow.

For my swatch, I did two coats of polish over my base & finished it off with top coat. Sometimes I find red can be hard to build, but the formula lead to opacity really well.

Now technically I think this shade is a red leaning pink (at least it’s photographing as such) but depending on your skin tone it could probably go either way. Which, personally, I think makes it a fantastic pick for your V-Day Manicure!

I picked up this polish at my local Walmart about 2 years ago & it’s my understanding that it’s been discontinued. That being said, Google tells me that it’s still available on a couple sites online including nailpolishcanada.com so if you’re dying to get it in your collection, you still have time!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Butter London Pistol Pink

Good Morning & Happy Sunday. Or should I say storm day, as winter weather is currently starting in my neck of the woods. ❄️ Hope everyone that doesn’t have to go out in it, is cuddled up under a blanket with a big mug of coffee!

If you are lucky enough to be snoodled up on your couch, I have a pretty polish to share with you today! Today’s Swatch Sunday pick is Butter London Pistol Pink. This gorgeous deep fuchsia pink was originally released circa 2013 as part of the Rock Your Colour collection, but came to be in my stash a few years ago thanks to Winners. (Canadian version of TJ Maxx for my non-Canadian friends.)

For my swatches, I did a base, two coats of polish & finished with top coat to seal it in as I was planning on wearing it for the day. The base is that deep fuchsia pink, & it’s scattered throughout with lighter pink shimmer that gives it a glowing effect. This is definitely the kind of pink that I adore I could wear for ages–I’ve always been more drawn to deeper & darker berry pinks more so than your brights or neons.

To me, this would be the perfect manicure shade for Valentine’s Day. Which is coming up very, very quickly so time to start brainstorming on looks now!

As I mentioned, I found this shade at my local Winners so I’m not too sure how available this shade is for purchase. I checked the Butter London website, but it doesn’t look to be available there or Amazon, so if you are looking for this shade you’re probably best off checking your own local Winners, Marshall’s or TJ Maxx or seeing if anyone on EBay has one for sale.

I decided since I was going to be rocking this manicure for the day, I needed someone to add on top–so I added a quick swipe of Sinful Colors Twilight Twinklies over top for a little golden glam!

So what do you think of today’s Swatch Sunday polish pick? Is Butter London Pistol Pink hiding away in your stash? Let me know your thoughts on this shade in the comments down below!
