Pink on Pink Abstract Stripes

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday. I hope it’s a beautiful Tuesday where you are. We’ve got some serious, almost Summer-like temperatures headed our way this week, so I’m pretty pumped!

Today though I’ve got a fun pink look to share with you I wore last week.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Essence Extreme GEL Top Coat
  • Deborah Lippman Groove is in the Heart.
  • Deborah Lippman Between the Sheets
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • Color Club Art Club Pink Pastel
  • NailStuff.ca 16mm Striper Brush

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a huge pink nail polish fan — which is funny, because I lived 2+ years of my life with pink hair. But I really, really like this pink tonal look.

What do you think about this pink on pink abstract stripe design? Do these say “Summer” to you?

EDIT — realized after I posted that this is my 1000th post on Coffee & Nail Polish which is so crazy! Here is to 1000 more! ✨💕💗🌸

Neon Drag Marble

Good morning lovelies & happy Tuesday! Hope you’re having a lovely start to your week.

Today I’m showing off a fun drag marble design I wore recently. I haven’t really done a drag marble in a while, & I thought one featuring a few neon-ish shades would be beautiful.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • Sally Hansen MG Floresc-pink
  • Sally Hansen MG Electri-Lime
  • Sally Hansen MG Violet Voltage
  • Sally Hansen MG Sugar Fix
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

I’m kind of obsessed with how these turned out! They remind me a bit of jawbreakers, which marble nails can do. I like the neon colours popping against the white base. They turned out exactly how I imagined in my head & I’m so happy about it!

Drag marble nails are one of those looks which I always think are going to be so easy, but then surprise me with difficulty, haha. In this case, I had to swirl my four polishes in the while before things started to dry… & I had to work fast! But, you know, I think in the end it gave a really cool effect, & I got lots of compliments on the finished look which always makes my day.

If I had to pick a favourite nail? Probably my middle nail. I think my swirling turned out best on that nail for sure.

What do you think about this drag marble look? Are you a fan of the neons against the white base?

Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below, & what colour combination you would do for a drag marble look!

SWATCH SUNDAY — OPI Infinite Shine The Sound of Vibrance (OPI Malibu Collection — Summer 2021)

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday!

Today I’m excited because I’m sharing a fun purple OPI that I recently found at my local Winners. I love how I’ve been finding displays with full previous season collections, which I may have missed on the first go around. This is OPI The Sound of Vibrance that was released as part of the 2021 Malibu collection released last Summer.

3 coats, no top coat

The Sound of Vibrance is a beautiful pink toned purple with shimmery blue glow & small glitters. Obviously, I’m drawn to purple easily (heck, even my hair is purple!) but this one really caught my eye because of that glow. It gives me so many nail art colour combination ideas, but also — it just looks really pretty on its own.

The formula was a wee bit on the thinner side. It wasn’t 3 coats on every nail, but I did need to do 3 coats on a few nails when I had some patchiness. However, the polish levels on its own very easily. & the beautiful colour is definitely worse a few extra swipes of polish.

You can definitely see why this was a part of a Summer collection, because it’s giving me all the Summer-y, beauty vibes.

Also, lately, I’ve been really finding myself drawn to a lot of red polishes, so it was nice to go back to an old favourite colour, & remind myself that Summer is coming, even if these chilly rainy days are making me feel otherwise.

What do you think of The Sound of Vibrance & it’s beautiful colour? Did you get any shades from this Malibu collection for Summer 2021?

Glam Nails Challenge August — Pear 🍐

Hello lovelies & happy Monday!

Can you believe it — the last prompt of GlamNailsChallenge August! A whole month of fruit themed prompts. I won’t lie — I wasn’t sure I was going to make it to the end but we did it! & I’m feeling super proud of myself right now. & it was so much fun.

& now that we’re almost at the end of August, I’m really feeling those darker colours. Which, is perfect, because it’s the perfect base for our final prompt this month: Pear 🍐.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Matte Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat
  • Essie Carry On
  • Essie Fall for NYC
  • Sinful Colors Chamomile Calm
  • Essie Wrap Me Up
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Grey Area
  • Essie Get Your Groove On
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio
  • NailStuff.ca 7mm detail brush

Oh man, I searched & searched & searched for Pear nail art inspo on Pinterest, but there was not much to choose from haha. So I decided my best option was just to wing it — & it worked out in my favour! I really adore the yellow-toned pears over this super dark vampy base. I actually forgot about this polish, even though it’s one I love to wear this time of year, so I was very happy to find it! It was the perfect base for my Autumn-y pears.

& thats it for this month’s challenge! I’ve had a lot of fun with this quirky prompts, & I think I’m going to maybe tag along for next prompts challenge as well — it really helps me with ideas of how to paint my nails, which I need sometimes!

If you’re enjoying these monthly challenges, let me know! & don’t forget to check out all the amazing designs for #glamnailschallengeAug on Instagram to see all the fun designs my fellow nail artists have come up with!

Neon Dry Brush

•pr•

Hello lovelies & happy Friday. It’s almost the weekend! & today I’m keeping the Summer time vibes up with a neon dry brush design featuring the new Sally Hansen neons I recently shared!

As much as I want Fall designs, it’s kind of hard to think of Fall of when it feels like 38 degree outside. So I guess I’ll keep the Summertime vibes going just a wee bit longer — at least until the cooler temperatures forecasted this weekend.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sun-Shine On
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Squeeze the Day
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel FlorescPink
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Feeling Grape
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Chill Out
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Electri-Lime
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Blacky-O
  • NailStuff.ca 16mm Striper Brush

Seriously, how much fun are these?

The Miracle Gel neons are perfect for this kind of design because of the thinner formulas—especially to get them to smudge when applying your top coat. You get that blended effect, which I adore. & obviously I had to add some graphic lines over my base to complete the whole look—it just adds something to the manicure overall; gives it a little extra POP!

What are we thinking about this neon look — yey or nay? Let me know down in the comments below.

& stay tuned because I have a ton of Fall/Autumn worthy shades (just ordered the China Glaze Autumn Spice collection yesterday!) coming soon.
