Born Pretty Store Review — UR Sugar Adhesive Nail Vinyls Heart Pattern Nail Art item # 39723

Good morning & happy Friday! Today I’m sharing another review of a fun item from Born Pretty Store. This time I’m reviewing some sugar adhesive heart pattern nail vinyls (item #39723). These vinyls comes with two different styles — the swirly hearts & the multiple hearts. Let’s consider this part one as I’m just reviewing the swirly hearts.

For this manicure, I used:

  • Base Coat: L’Oréal All in One
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Quo by ORLY Color Amp’d Paparazzi
  • Layla Cosmetics Hologram Effect Mercury Twilight
  • UR Sugar Adhesive Nail Vinyls Heart Pattern item # 39723

I’ve used a lot of nail vinyls over the last little while & I have to say these are definitely high up on the list. They are easy to peel off their backing & stick to the nail–easily adjustable but not so flimsy that they just stick together & crumple. Also they stick really, really well. I had zero issues with colour bleeding underneath. Also, you get two stencils in one with the heart swirls, which means you can do 20 nails total! I also really like that they have the useful little tab for pulling up your vinyl.

All in all, I really like these vinyls. They’re easy to peel off & apply, they don’t bleed & they just work really well. Using nail vinyls can be difficult sometimes, but these make it easy! I also like the fact you get 2 different designs per sheet which can be used separately or combined together. I can definitely see myself using these again & would say anyone who is curious about trying out nail vinyls should give them a shot!

& for fun—a shot of this holo manicure in action.

Pretty & Prom Inspired!

It’s been a long, long time since my last prom expirence (10 years!) but I always find myself reminiscing when June comes around. I’ve been seeing a whole bunch of pretty dresses around as graduates get ready for their special night, so I thought I would do some pretty prom inspired nails! Back when I went to prom, my nails were always simple: a metallic, a red, some fresh tips. If I were a teenager now, I definitely would go with something more fun!

I think this design would be perfect for someone going to prom that wants fancy nails that aren’t too over to top (don’t want to outshine that dress!) I went with a pretty peach shade, but you could tailor it to go with whatever colour matched your dress.

For this manicure, I used:

  • Base Coat: Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat
  • Top Coat: Cutex Quick Dry Top Coat
  • ACO by Ardene Sorbet
  • ACO by Ardene Misty Love
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Buffalo Nickel
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Pretty Piggy
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Little Peony
  • Sally Hansen I ❤️ Nail Art Pen in green
  • Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Kiwi Bikini
  • Xroma Polish & Vinyls Small Moroccan stencil
  • Small dotting tool from Bundle Monster
  • Small Nail Art Brush from Bundle Monster

I’m so excited by these, I can’t lie. My floral seriously turned out perfect. & I love the subtle bit of shimmer of the metallic Buffalo Nickel with the pastel floral. Floral is definitely my favourite go-to when it comes to special occasion nails, but I promise it’s not my only go-to! But for special occasions like prom, floral is perfect! It’s like wearing your corsage right on your nails.

What did you wear on your nails when you went to prom? Did you stay classic, go sparkly or not wear anything at all? Let me know what you think in the comments below!

Mani Swap with @PolishedFingernails

I hope you’re excited because Mani Swap week continues with a fun swap I did with Sophie (@polishedfingernails). For this swap, we both went similar directions picking Negative Space designs with line details–Sophie recreated my vampy colour blocking,  & I picked her pretty teal and white design!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat
  • Top Coat: Cutex Quick Dry Top Coat
  • Essie Where’s My Chauffeur?
  • OPI By The Light Of The Moon
  • OPI Ce-less-tial Is More
  • Kiss Products Nail Art Striper in White

I’m not going to lie, I love this mani extra amounts because I managed to freehand everything. I’ve been trying to practice my line work, & I’m so happy with how these turned out. Also I kind of improvised the thumb nail, adding my own touch which is kind of cheating, but I didn’t know what the thumb looked like so I gave it my own spin & I think it fits in so well with the design.

So what do you think of this swap? Thanks to Sophie for joining me in this swap, & you definitely need to check out her Instagram account! She always had such unique designs!

Purple and Silver Dry Marble.

I haven’t attempted a dry marble manicure since my failed attempted at the 31 Day Challenge last year, so I thought I was overdue for another go! This was actually attempt number 2… My first try was mega nail fail. But once I figured out the technique I needed to use, it was smooth sailing. And you can probably tell by my abundance of pictures that I absolutely adore these!

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • Hard Candy Zombie
  • Finger Paints Wanna Gogh Dance?
  • Seche Vite
  • L’oreal The Matte Velvet top coat.

I love how different each nail looks. My Husband almost always goes to bed before I finish my nails at night, so this morning I literally shoved my fingers in his face and was like “LOOK!”

I might need to start doing more of these manicures now that I don’t just make an utter mess! It’s just so pretty– especially all mattified!

What do you think of my dry marble? Have you ever gone back and retried a manicure you weren’t so good at the first time? Let me know in the comments! And have a beautiful weekend lovelies. 😽

Double holo half moon mani featuring ORLY Mirrorball and Nubar Prize.

You’ll remember the other day I included a swatch of ORLY Mirrorball in my last post and I promised something good to come. How about a double holo half moon manicure! As I said, I’m all about that holo life right now. Just makes the sunny Summer-like days even better. I decided to up to sparkle on my nails overtop ORLY Mirrorball. After wearing Mirrorball on its own for about a day, I applied paper reinforcements to the bottom of each nail, pressed them down real good, and then applied two coats of Nubar Prize which is such a pretty holographic reddish pink! Remove the hole reinforcements quickly, apply your top coat of choice and BAM! Pretty and super sparkly half moons.
Just check out this blurry sun shot to really get a sense of the sparkle. It’s almost blinding and I love everything about it! 😍
