Fall Leaves 🍂 Nail Art Recreation

Today I have a fun nail art look to share with you that is a recreation of an old favourite: this Fall leaf design. This design was one of the first designs I ever posted on Instagram that I was the most proud of. So while browsing through my old designs, I decided it was definitely long overdue for me to recreate this design!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Gel overlay
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat {PR sample}
  • Quo by ORLY Breathable Heaven Sent {PR sample}
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Good Cheer-y {PR sample}
  • Wet N Wild Blazed
  • Rimmel 60 Seconds 830 Camouflage
  • Mariposa Nail Polish gold shimmer (no name)
  • Black Acrylic Paint
  • Nailstuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

So obviously with it being five years since I first painted this design, I wanted to change things up a little bit & play around with the look. Instead of black polish, I used acrylic paint because I knew it would make it easier to start over if there was any mistakes. I also used my 11mm mermaid tail brush from NailStuff.ca, but looking back I should probably should have went with a small size for thinner lines.

Also this time I decided to add some matte top coat over my design, & it really made the design & colours pop! I’ve been absolutely loving the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel matte top coat.

Just for fun, a couple shots of this design before I added my matte top coat.

Obviously I think both versions of this design are fabulous, but I’m just slightly more in love with the matte version. Something about this time of year just has me craving matte-ified nails more often, & honestly I feel like metallic nails (which I also craved more often during Autumn) pop so much more when they are matte.

SWATCH SUNDAY — QUO by ORLY Wrong So Right

Good morning lovelies! It’s the beginning of another week & that means it’s Swatch Sunday. Today I grabbed a fun Fall shade from my stash to share with you.

This shade has also been in my collection for a long while, & I don’t think I’ve ever actually worn it in a manicure: Quo by ORLY Wrong So Right. This shade came to me as part of the Quo by ORLY 18 Piece Holiday collection from 2013 that the hubby gifted me.

For my Swatches, I’m wearing 2 coats of Wrong So Right over Essence Plump Power. The polish itself is very sheer (which I find with a lot of shades like this) so I always choose to wear undies instead of layering 4+ coats to get the polish opaque. It also can give you a different look, depending on what colours you choose to layer it over.

For those looking at this polish going “hmmm, that shade looks very familiar”, you would be right. Wrong So Right is the Quo by ORLY version of ORLY Brilliant Boysenberry (aka ORLY Space Cadet) which is also a dupe for MAC Mean & Green (from the Venomous Villans collection) & dupes of Finger Paints Surreal Sunset & Claire’s Venomous). Turns out I must really like this finish & shade, because I own all of the above except Mean & Green. What can I say… I’m a duochrome addict.

Look at that shift! It just screams Fall to me, & Fall is my favourite nail polish season. 🍁 & no, I don’t care that it’s only August. Give me plaid & pumpkin spice & all the jewel tone nail polishes I can handle.

QUO Spring 2019 Limited Edition Make Up Collection

Good morning lovelies! Today I have a fun post to share with you that is a little out of my comfort zone, but I am super excited about! I was recently contacted by Quo about their Spring limited edition make up collection that is cactus themed & I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to say yes!

The collection contains two eye shadow palettes, Desert Rose & Desert Sun, two face palettes, Sand Dune & Badlands, two Cream lip stains, Mariposa & Apache, a Luxe Buffing Brush & a cactus themed sponge. I was lucky enough to receive an eyeshadow palette, a face palette, a cream lip stain & that very adorable cactus sponge.
