Blue Chevron Claws

I received my Snail Vinyls nail vinyls order the other day, & immediately needed to break them out for some nail art. As part of my order, I ordered their Single Chevron Variety Pack because my selection of chevrons was sadly dwindling. & the ones I was most excited for from the collection? The Deep Single Chevron nail vinyls!

I’ve done Chevron claws a few times using straight vinyls or striping tape, but it’s not the easiest. I’m loving these vinyls because it takes the hard part out of it–all you need to do is line them up on the nail straight! Sure that took me a few tries to make sure they were straight, but the end result looks really awesome. Chevron claws are like the cool big sister to chevron moons, so obviously I love them! I’m really excited it will be so easy for me to do them now.
For this mani, I used:

What do you think of these chevron claws? This was my first time using Snail Nail Vinyls, but they were easy to use, & produced nice clean lines (as you can see!) When it comes to a designs like this, clean & crisp lines are very important!

Also I really like the darkness of Bell Bottom Blues over In The Cab-ana. The shimmer of Bell Bottom Blues is just so pretty, especially when it catches the light. It just pairs with the light creamy  blue of In The Cab-ana so well. And they still have that Summer-y vibe, even with the darker blue sparkle.

Now that I have my lighting situation figured out, I’ve been working on taking different shots for the blog to show off my manis. Obviously I’ll never tire of my coffee shots, but I want to show off different angles of my designs so you get the whole look (including the occasional shot of my Cinderella hand!) I want to give my blog as much character as possible, so it’s as enjoyable to read as it is for me to write!

What do you think of these chevron claws? As always, let me know what you think in the comments below and stay tuned for more chevron nails featuring these awesome vinyls from Snail Vinyls!

Pretty in Pink Drag Marble nails.

It may be the second week of Spring, but it certainly does not feel like it here on the East Coast. Oh how I long for warm sunshine-y days & pretty sun dresses. So in the meantime, I guess I’ll just have to make due with channeling Spring on my nails! For today’s mani, I decided to continue my trend of pulling forgotten shades from the stash by choosing a few favourites from years past.

For this manicure, I used:

  • Essie Lounge Lover
  • Essie The Girls Are Out
  • Cutex Quick Dry Top Coat
  • Drag Marble Stencils from The Base Coat.

I just love love love how these colours compliment each other! The Girls Are Out has always been one of those colours I forget how much I love until I pull it out again. I picked it up a couple years ago for $3 at the Dollarama, and instantly fell in love.  The flecks of glitter are so pretty, & pairing it with Lounge Lover’s soft pinky coral really brightens up the whole mani! These two colours with the drag marble pattern really remind me of a beach ball, or something equally Summer-y.

Spring fashion may feel like forever away, but my nails are definitely ready with these vibrant chevrons! I’m currently away on a mini family vacation to Northern New Brunswick where there is currently 4 feet of snow, so I definitely need some brightness in my life.

What do you think of this mani–what are your favourite shades to pair together to brighten up your days? Let me know in the comments below.

Spring Stripe Inspiration.

Oh yes, I’m all about the Spring colours.

I was looking to do a manicure different from my usual colour scheme, and I was inspired by a stuffed Giraffe belonging to my son that I yellow with blue and white striped feet. I thought the colours looked so lovely together, I wanted to recreate the look on my nails!

It took me a couple tries to find the right shades, but I really like how well these colours compliment each other. If you threw an anchor into the mix, you would have a great nautical themed design! I also love how bright and Spring-y these are! It’s time to push the winter shades away, and embrace all things sunny and bright.

For this manicure, I used:

  • China Glaze Sun Upon My Skin
  • OPI Angel With A Lead Foot
  • Essie Bikini So Teeny
  • Essie Gel Setter
  • Born Pretty Store thick striping tape.

What do you think of this mani? Funny the places you can find inspiration! This has kind of made me think about each week (or every couple weeks) doing a manicure inspired by something baby related! I’ve already got a few ideas brewing, so stay tuned.

Purple and blue chevron nails.

Do you have favourite colour combinations? One of my favourite combination of colours is definitely baby blue and purple. They just compliment each other so well! That’s probably why I love this mani so much!

For this mani, the products I used were:

How pretty are these? I used the inside part of the stencils from The Base Coat instead of the stencil themself, but I think they turned out so well!

Now it’s off to do some more nail art, while I still can.  Baby Taco is due in just a few days so it’s time to trim the claws down! They’re definitely not newborn compatible at their current length haha.

Negative space stripes.

I’ve written before about my love for all things involving negative space nail art, and today I have a quick negative space accent nail to share. I’ve been trying to do my nails as much as possible while I still can, while also coming up with ideas for quick nail art I may be able to do after baby comes. Thank god for nail vinyls, am I right? Going to need to order a bunch before baby comes for those days I can actually do my nails!

These negative space stripes are definitely perfect for a quick accent nail. They look way more complicated then they actually are! Thankfully you don’t have to wait near as long to use tape or vinyls when you’re only applying it over base coat.

For this manicure I used:

  • Essence Rock Your World!
  • Sally Hansen Cherry Cherry Bang Bang
  • Kiss Products Nail Art Striper in Black.
  • Striping Tape
  • Essie Gel Setter

I really love the combination of grey and pink–they just always go so well together!

What are your favourite accent nail designs? Let me know in the comments below! I’ve also been thinking about maybe starting to do some tutorials, so if that is something you’d be interested in seeing, let me know.
