GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE DECEMBER (2024) — Christmas Lights

This week has been a rough one for painting my nails & getting them posted. I’ve had a never ending headache/migraine. Plus my holiday vibes are nonexistent this year. I don’t know if it’s just me, but it doesn’t feel like almost Christmas to me.

But! I did get the next prompt for Glam Nails Challenge December created which was Christmas Lights. This was inspired by a look I saw on Pinterest & thought was neat. So I decided to do my own twist on it.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: NailStuff Essentials Base Coat *
  • Top Coat: Nail Stuff Essentials Quick Dry Top Coat *
  • Essie Nail Art Studio Mystic Marine*
  • Essie Frilly Lillies*
  • Essie Life’s A Beach
  • Essie Offbeat Chic *
  • Essie Making Spirits Bright
  • Quo by Orly Black Striper
  • NailStuff 4mm Micro Detail Brush

*PR/gifted

I really tried to do some kind of peakaboo snowflakes with Making Spirits Bright but they’re more hidden than I was planning on. The sparkle does look really pretty in person though.

What do you think about these Christmas light nails? Did I honour the inspiration well?

SWATCH SUNDAY— OPI Infinite Shine Hot & Coaled (2023 Terribly Nice Collection)

Happy second Sunday of December lovelies! Can you believe it? Christmas is quickly approaching, & that just seems like madness.

Today I’m sharing another shade from the OPI Infinite Shine Terribly Nice collection from last Christmas. My husband had gifted me 6 (?) these beauties as my Christmas gift, & if I remember correctly, this was the one my son picked out. So I thought this would be a fun shade to share this week. This is OPI Infinite Shine Hot & Coaled.

2 coats over a black cream base (NailStuff Essentials Raven ) + top coat

The beautiful sparkly black has a sheer almost metallic black base & an abundance of multi-sized coloured glitters — including holographic & iridescent.

As soon as I saw how sheer the base was, I knew I was going to need to apply this over some undies. You obviously can build the opacity, but I just wasn’t feeling 3+ coats. for me, this is just a shade that I feel looks better in a coat (or 2) over a dark base. GingerlyPolished has swatches of the collection from last year, including Hot & Coaled in case you’re looking for swatches of built to opacity on its own.

Close up to really see that fantastic glitter. You can’t really see the but if shimmer in the base, but I think it’s stunning worn like this. The glitter is a lot of fun — I’d also be curious to try it in a glitter gradient. You’d probably want to stick to a darker colour — black, navy blue, dark burgundy— but I think it’s would look stunning.

What do you think of OPI Infinite Shine Hot & Coaled? Are you a fan of this glittery beauty? Do you think you’d wearing it as a topper or on its own? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below.

Also for anyone looking, I have seen a few of the Terribly Nice collection shades available at my local Marshalls including a mini set of all the shades. So I would definitely hit yours up if you want to try & get your hands on it!

Enjoy your Sunday

Twinkling Snowflakes ❄️✨

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday! Halfway through the week, & only 4 days away from December 1st. Who else hasn’t started their Christmas shopping yet?

Today I’m showing off more glittery nails on my shorties. I was feeling some handprinted snowflakes, since they’ve been all over my Instagram feed, so I decided to give them a go. & obviously, I needed a good base for them to pop over, so I picked some more sparkles. After all, ’tis the season for sparkle!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: NailStuff Essentials Base Coat *
  • Top Coat: Nail Stuff Essentials Quick Dry Top Coat *
  • CND Vinylux Dark Dahlia
  • Sinful Colours I Miss You
  • Essie Blanc
  • Essie Separated Starlight
  • Nailstuff Mermaid Tail 7mm liner brush
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

How pretty did these little snowflakes turn out. I’ve never been the most comfortable free handing my snowflakes, but I was feeling pretty confident after watching way too many tutorial videos. & they turned out absolutely beautiful, & I’m very proud of that.

I’m trying not to get too Christmas-y on my nails yet, as Glam Nails Challenge December starts next Wednesday, & I’m going all in to end this year! There are so many great prompts, so I’m really excited for some fun designs to end this year strong.

What do you think of my twinkling snow flakes? Has it snowed where you are yet? We haven’t had anything more than a couple flurries, but they are calling for a potential snowstorm at the end of the week which is crazy!

Happy Wednesday

Glittery Dotticure

Hello loves & happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend.

As you may have noticed in yesterday’s post, I’m back to rocking shorter nails. & Sometimes short nails can feel kind of lame, so I decided to do something fun. I’m all about the glitter right now, so I felt like some sparkle was much needed — & I wanted to create another version of this nail art look I did last New Year’s Eve, but with a darker base this time.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: NailStuff Essentials Base Coat *
  • Top Coat: Nail Stuff Essentials Quick Dry Top Coat *
  • OPI Less is Norse
  • OPI Infinite Shine Put On Something Ice
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

How cute are these little sparkles? I tried my best to get a little sparkle in each dot but it wasn’t always the easiest. Still looks so pretty against the darker blue base shade of Less is Norse.

It’s also giving me Christmas inspo to try this with a white base & green & red glittery polishes!

What do you think of this glittery dotticure on my new shorties? Do you like this look? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below & let me know what you’re wearing right now!

Holo Candy Candy Stripes

Good morning lovelies & happy Monday! Trying to get back into my regular posting schedule again, with a Monday post. I feel like things are getting a bit crazy, so it’s been harder lately. But here’s hoping with the holidays coming (& holiday nail art) I can find a more consistent routine!

Today’s look is a classic holiday nail art look — candy cane stripes! Again, this is one that I repeat year after year, but I decided to spruce it up a bit with a little more sparkle ✨.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: NailStuff Essentials Base Coat *
  • Top Coat: Nail Stuff Essentials Quick Dry Top Coat *
  • Holo Top Coat: Nail Stuff Essentials Holographic Top Coat *
  • Essie Making Spirits Bright
  • Essie Off Tropic *
  • Essie Bordeaux *
  • Essie Blanc
  • NailStuff.ca 16mm Striper Brush

Are these not giving serious Christmas vibes? I always love a good candy cane stripe design this time of year, because it’s just the right amount of holiday vibes. & they pair perfectly with the holly bush in our front yard.

What are we thinking about this candy cane stripe look? Sometimes I like to go more subtle with this design, but the glitter was just calling to me!

So when do you start your holiday nail art looks? Let me know in the comments below.
