Matte St. Patrick’s Day Dotticure 🍀

Hello lovelies! Happy St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 although this feels like a very strange thing to say considering the state of the world right now. I hope wherever you are, you’re safe & healthy & stocked up on all the essentials you need. Like coffee.

For the first time in a long time, I wasn’t feeling the St. Patrick’s Day nails this year, but decided at the last minute (yesterday) to do something, anything. & what is more fun & festive than a green themed dotticure!

For the manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Good Kind Pure Hardener
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Matte Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat
  • My Beauty Spot pistachio green (no name)
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • L’Oréal Feeling Kilty
  • Quo by ORLY Diva
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio  (COFFEE10 to save 10%)

This look makes me happy, not only because it’s relatively quick & so easy to do! A dotting tool was the very first nail art tool I ever purchased, & by far they are the ones I’ve used the most over the last decade of me obsessively painting my nails! The great thing about a dotticure is that you grab a few festive colours & you can create a manicure for any holiday! Orange & black = Halloween. Green, red & White = Christmas. Pastels = Easter.

Easy peasy.

What do you usually do for St. Patrick’s Day? Back in my bit crazier days, I would take the day off from work & go party at a friends house literally all day. Those were crazier times for sure. Now I pretty much stick to kombucha & maybe Irish Cream flavoured coffee!

This year, like I said, with all the fear about Covid-19, we’ve stocked up on goods for the next little while. But I am set when it comes to coffee — we made sure to hit up Selby’s for some at home coffee! ☕️

Stay safe (& healthy!) loves

Teeny Tiny Gradient Dotticure (perfect for Valentine’s Day)

{PR SAMPLE/GIFTED}

Hello lovelies & Happy Thursday!

We have one more day until Valentine’s Day, so I thought I would share a cute look that you could totally wear for the holiday — this teeny tiny gradient dotticure! I’m kind of obsessed with polka dots right now, & there is nothing I love more than a gradient dotticure. For this look, I decided to use my beautiful Sally Hansen Canada Good Kind Pure shades because I thought all the colours I received would make for a beautiful not-so-classic Valentine’s Day look.

For this look, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Good Kind Pure Hardener
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Good Kind Pure Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen GKP Beet It
  • Sally Hansen GKP Pink Cardamom
  • Sally Hansen GPK Eco-Rose
  • Sally Hansen GKP Golden Quartz
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

Remember, you can use COFFEE10 at checkout at Nailstuff.ca to save 10% off your purchases!

How pretty are these dainty polka dots?

Also please forgive the lack of photo quality. My phone is on its last life, & trying to capture my nails in good quality is just not happening. I need a new phone, & maybe a new camera too. If you have any camera suggestions you love, let me know! I’m so ready for/in desperate need of an upgrade.

I haven’t actually decided what I’ll be wearing on my nails for tomorrow. Usually I have some elaborate idea in my head of what I want to do on my nails, but this year I’ve been distracted. We’re also traveling tomorrow to Northern New Brunswick to visit family for a couple of days, so I don’t know if I’ll have time to do anything more than a single colour. Maybe I’ll pull out one of my pink holo shades for the occasion!

What do you think about this nail art look? Have you ever done a gradient dotticure before? What is your favourite colour combination? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below!

NEW YEARS EVE Art Deco Negative Space Colour Block

{PR SAMPLE}

Happy New Years Eve lovelies! I couldn’t end this year without one more blog post, & I had created this Art Deco inspired look a few weeks back so I wanted to make sure to share it with you! My sister, like many I’m sure, is throwing a roaring 20s themed New Years Eve party, so I wanted to come up with a gorgeous Art Deco-esque look that would be perfect for the occasion. For this design, I used all three new shades from the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Oh My Gold collection, which were so kindly gifted to me.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Strengthening Base Coat
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Goldie Rocks
  • Sally Hansen MG Good As Gold
  • Sally Hansen MG Five Golden Blings

I started off by applying my base coat, then some quick dry top coat & let it dry. Then I applied my nail tape, & created my blocks of gold polish. I wanted each one to be fairly opaque, so I was pretty generous in my application. After all polish was applied, I removed my nail tape. Then I carefully went in with my black & my detail brush to create my lines. I used my 7mm detail brush, but for lines like this a bigger brush (like the 11mm or 16mm) would probably be easier.

I really wanted to come up with a design that was roaring 20s appropriate & I think I succeeded! It’s also a fairly quick & moderately easy design to f, so if you’re looking for a last minute nail art design to do, give it a try & ring in New Years Eve with some fabulously sparkly nails!

I just want to say a huge thank you for everyone who checks out this blog or my Instagram & leaves likes or love. This was my 5th year blogging here in this little space, & even though my life is a heck of a lot different than when I started, & it’s not always easy to make the time for my nails & for writing,I couldn’t imagine stopping now. I can’t wait to see what 2020 brings!

See you next year!

Winter Pattern inspired by Selby’s Bunker!

2D11AFA8-9D05-4E34-B207-7AEA6017DDF3

Hello lovelies & happy Friday! It is the LAST Friday before Christmas, if you can believe that! Sending lots of good vibes to all my fellow retail works prepping for the absolute busiest weekend of the year — keep strong! You’re going to make it.

Today I’m sharing a really special manicure that I’m so excited to share that is inspired by my absolute favourite coffee & gift shop located here in Cole Harbour — Selby’s Bunker & Gifts. We go to this adorable little coffee shop daily, & love to peruse through the gift shop attached. I was there a few days ago shopping for Christmas gifts & saw the most adorable winter themed mug & immediately knew I had to recreate it on my nails as part of my Christmas designs this year.

I started off with my crisp white base, & made sure to apply top coat & let it dry well just in case I needed to erase any of my paint. I went with acrylic paint just because I wasn’t sure how well my drawing would go, & I wanted to opportunity to erase any mistake I made — & honestly, I probably started over about 15 times before I felt like my design was resembling the mug enough! If you’re new to nail art & want to attempt something out of your comfort zone, I definitely recommend starting first with acrylic paint! Makes erasing mistakes so much easier!

Honestly, this might be one of my most favourite designs I’ve done in a very very long time. I can’t remember the last time I attempted to recreate a pattern — or whether this turned out — but oh boy do I adore this! It works for Christmas, or just winter in general, & I think it is so delicate & sweet. Also I had every intention of taking a picture of my nails with the mug, but I got so caught up at looking at everything when Christmas shopping I totally forgot! Haha.
