St Patrick’s Day nails with #thenailartsquad

Happy St Patrick’s Day! 🍀

Today I’ve joined with the rest of the girls in #thenailartsquad for some St Patrick’s Day themed nails in honour of today.

The fellow #thenailartsquad members that I joined for this collab are (clockwise from the top):

For my nails, I freehanded clovers on my accent nail using a fitting tool and small nail art brush. Thankfully, baby was sleeping so I had the chance for some real nail art! I was very excited.

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • Essie First Timer (light green)
  • YSL  vert d’orient (dark green)
  • Icing Icing on Top (off white)
  • ORLY Bling (holo gold)
  • Butter London Rock Hard top coat.
  • Dotting tool (Bundle Monster) and small nail art brush (Born Pretty Store).

There are few occasions where I pull out green polish, but I always look forward to St Patrick’s Day for some festive green nails. I’m also really happy with my little clovers–I wasn’t quite sure I could pull them off freehand, but I think they turned out pretty cute!

Hope everyone is having a festive day whether it’s with green beer, or–like me–a very green stir fry!

QUO by Orly Trash Glam

Good Morning Lovelies!
Today I’m going a little more simple with my polish and rocking a polish I’ve owned for quite a while but never actually worn as a full mani: QUO by Orly Trash Glam. And thanks to my Internet googling prowless I’ve learned two things about this polish: it’s a dupe for Orly Sparkling Garbage, and it’s not called Trashy Glam (which, as witnessed in a previous post, I totally thought it was!)

Trash Glam is a beautfiul scattered holo glitter suspended in a green jelly base that is super sheer. For me, it’s best layered over a complimentary colour (I used OPI My Dogsled is a Hybrid) so you get the holo-ness in all it’s glory, but you don’t have to worry about any visible nail line. For my pictures below, I used two coats of Trash Glam layered over two coats of My Dog Sled is a Hybrid and finished everything with one coat of my favourite top coat Essie Gel Setter.

I received this polish from my Hubby a couple years back for our very first Christmas together as part of the QUO by Orly holiday polish pack that came out that year. Green has always been one of those colours I don’t really gravitate towards, mostly because I don’t think it does anything for me. But green holo? I can definitely get behind green holo! The sparkle in the sunshine alone is enough for me to fall in love with this polish.

I totally tried to get a #mynailsandmycat shot with this polish, but every time I tried our kitty Hades would just look away from the camera. She just wasn’t feeling the holo love I guess. I also tried to get a picture of her with the polish bottle but she just laid on top of it. Haha. I guess my kitties are just not meant to be the next Menchie the Cat.

What’s your favourite holo polish and colour? Let me know in the comments below!

Spring-y Floral

Is anyone else seriously ready for Spring?! I definitely am. This winter hasn’t been nearly as rough as last year, but I am still so ready for Winter to be over. In honour of that Spring feeling, I thought I’d pull out some brighter colours.

I was at Shoppers the other day with the hubby, and he picked me out Essie Chillato to add to the stash, which is a pale pistachio green and nothing like anything I have in my stash. I’m not usually into greens, but I’m seriously digging this colour. And since I’m trying to break out of my comfort zone, what’s a better colour to do it with!

And since I was going with such a fresh Spring-y colour, I thought some floral was in order.

The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • Essie Chillato
  • Sally Hansen I ♥️ Nail Art pen in purple
  • Sally Hansen I ♥️ Nail Art pen in green
  • Sally Hansen I ♥️ Nail Art pen in magenta
  • Sally Hansen I ♥️ Nail Art pen in turquoise
  • Essie Good to Go

Oh yes, bring in the floral. It’s been a long winter, and I’ve missed playing around with my floral manis. I’m also kind of obsessed with my Sally Hansen I ♥️ Nail Art pens again. I forgot how easy they are to use to create fun designs! I have a feeling I might be adding more to the stash come next pay day!
Anyone else craving Spring as much as I am? What are you wearing on your nails lately?
