Fall Drag Marble

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday! How this week is speeding by so quickly, I have no idea. I know I’ve been pretty quiet on here; we spent Friday-Monday away for my Grandfather’s memorial, so I was pretty busy last week & basically everything took a backseat! But I’m back & I’ve got some new fun nails to share with you!

As I’ve mentioned before, Fall colours are pretty much all I’m grabbing right now. I’m so here for them! Today’s look combines a few darker shades, perfect for September, but still keeps things a little light. I’ll be honest, I’m totally counting down the days until Halloween designs can start! But I thought I would get a few other designs in beforehand.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Hard As Nails
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Essie Gel Couture Princess Charming
  • Essie Kimono Over
  • Essie Brides No Groom
  • Essie Mosiac On Down
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio — I used the smalled one (COFFEE10 saves you 10%)

I won’t lie, it’s been a while since I attempted a drag marble, & even though I’m a little rusty, I think these turned out cool. Sometimes I find my drag marbles turn into a big blobby mess, so I tried really hard to make sure the colours kind of stayed separated. I’m going to keep practicing, because it’s such an easy way to fancy up your nails.

Loving this combination of colours. I’ll be honest with the fact I have been kind of distracted from looking at all the Fall shades popping up in stores. I’m not much for buying nail polish online unless they’re special shades, & I haven’t really been out in stores perusing nail polish like I used to. So I’m really trying to go through all my old nail polishes from years past, & using them! I definitely have a lot of nail polish to choose from, haha.

What do you think about this drag marble look? Do you like the colour combination I went with? Have you ever tried a look like this? Let me know what you think down in the comments below, & whether or not you would try this look!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Dipping into my Untrieds

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! I was trying really hard to figure out what I should share for this weeks Swatch Sunday post, & realized I have a WHOLE lot of untried nail polish I have bought over the year (or was given to me) that I’ve never actually worn. Even once. So I thought it would be fun to grab a few of those neglected shades for this weeks Swatch post! So I posted a poll on my Instagram asking did people want to see Spring shades or untrieds, & while it was pretty close, 55% vs 45%, Untrieds won!

So let’s get to the polishes!

Matte St. Patrick’s Day Dotticure 🍀

Hello lovelies! Happy St. Patrick’s Day 🍀 although this feels like a very strange thing to say considering the state of the world right now. I hope wherever you are, you’re safe & healthy & stocked up on all the essentials you need. Like coffee.

For the first time in a long time, I wasn’t feeling the St. Patrick’s Day nails this year, but decided at the last minute (yesterday) to do something, anything. & what is more fun & festive than a green themed dotticure!

For the manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Good Kind Pure Hardener
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Matte Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat
  • My Beauty Spot pistachio green (no name)
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • L’Oréal Feeling Kilty
  • Quo by ORLY Diva
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio  (COFFEE10 to save 10%)

This look makes me happy, not only because it’s relatively quick & so easy to do! A dotting tool was the very first nail art tool I ever purchased, & by far they are the ones I’ve used the most over the last decade of me obsessively painting my nails! The great thing about a dotticure is that you grab a few festive colours & you can create a manicure for any holiday! Orange & black = Halloween. Green, red & White = Christmas. Pastels = Easter.

Easy peasy.

What do you usually do for St. Patrick’s Day? Back in my bit crazier days, I would take the day off from work & go party at a friends house literally all day. Those were crazier times for sure. Now I pretty much stick to kombucha & maybe Irish Cream flavoured coffee!

This year, like I said, with all the fear about Covid-19, we’ve stocked up on goods for the next little while. But I am set when it comes to coffee — we made sure to hit up Selby’s for some at home coffee! ☕️

Stay safe (& healthy!) loves

Classic Marble Nails

{GIFTED}

Good morning lovelies & happy Tuesday! Here in Halifax, we’ve been having a surge of almost Spring like weather, which leaves me feeling refreshed & hopeful! I’m totally going to ignore the Winter storm heading our way in a couple days, & just pretend that Spring is on it’s way.

Today’s look feels very refreshing & Spring like as well. I decided to wanted to try & create a “classic” looking marble.

For this manicure, the polishes I’m wearing are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Treat & Colour Gloss Fi
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Essie Ballet Slippers
  • White Acrylic Paint
  • Black Acrylic Paint

For this look, I started off with a base of Ballet Slippers, & then watered down some acrylic paint & brushes it along the nail using my skinner brush. If I felt like my lines were too harsh, I’d take my round clean up brush, dip it in water, & water down the paint on my nails (or remove it completely, which is the benefit of using acrylic paint!)

& then obviously I needed some gold. & these gold flakies from NailStuff are kind of my new obsession. They’re so beautiful!

Dry Brush & Gold Flakies

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday. Today I’ve got another fun design to share. It feels like absolute ages since I did a dry brush design, & so it felt long overdue! I love a good dry brush, because they’re so quick & easy to do. It had also been a while since I’d pulled out any of my Flakies from nail stuff, so I thought some gold was in order!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Essie Treat Love & Color Gloss Fit (clear)
  • Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Quo by ORLY Aloe, Goodbye
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Pat on the Black
  • Essence Black is Back
  • Nailstuff.ca Gold Metallic Flakies (COFFEE10 to save 10%!)

I totally, accidentally, knocked half my gold Flakies all over my couch when creating this look, which was probably the most difficult part of doing this design. Haha. I had tucked these gold pieces away in my nail art draw, & had completely forgotten about them… & how much I love using flakies! They’re just so pretty!

I’m loving these. The colours, the whole overall look, how freaking easy they were. Everything about these are so fun.
