Chevron Accent Nail featuring Pacific Blue.

I’ve written before about my unrelenting love for the original formula Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. So much so I still search for back up bottles when I’m looking through clearance. I don’t wear it a whole lot, but when I do I am reminded why I love this polish so much.  The other night I was looking for something to put on my nails, & immediately reached for my old trusty favourite.

For this manicure, I used:

  • Base Coat: Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat
  • Top Coat: Cutex Quick Dry Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen Pacific Blue
  • China Glaze Fairy Dust
  • Sally Hansen Montley Hue
  • OPI Angel With A Lead Foot (under Montley Hue)
  • Snail Vinyls Staggered Chevron Nail Stencil

Sometimes I love wearing a simple colour & sprucing it up with a simple accent. If I’m remembering correctly, Pacific Blue was one of my very first Sally Hansen X-treme Wear polishes. I’ll never not love it. Even if it didn’t have this elusive Unicorn status, it would still be one of my favourites.

What do you think of this mani? Do you have Pacific Blue in your stash? I’ve been going through my stash &  found some potential dupes, so I’m going to post a comparison post coming up! 💙

Unicorn Inspired Gradient 🦄

So by now you’ve probably been introduced to the Unicorn Frappuccino that Starbucks released yesterday. I know it completely blew up my Instagram & Facebook feeds… everyone & their grandma was showing off the drink on social media. Personally I have no interest in trying it–not a fan of frapuccinos (too much sugar), I can’t have any dairy so no whip cream, & there isn’t even any coffee in it! But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to join in the unicorn fun, so I took inspiration from the colours of the drink to create a Unicorn inspired gradient!

For this manicure, I used:

  • Base Coat: Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat
  • Top Coat: Cutex Quick Dry Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Orchid Around
  • Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Royal Hue
  • China Glaze Fairy Dust
  • Latex Free cosmetic sponge (purchased at Dollarama)
  • Born Pretty Store Peel off Liquid Tape

It’s been so long–too long–since I played around with a gradient, so I’m a little rusty. But I’m pretty happy with how these turned out. The colours might not exactly match its inspiration, but I thought it was a good attempt. It would have been more fun if I had one of those cute unicorn stencils (I think they’re by Twinkled-T) to add a holo glitter unicorn on my ring finger, but with a little Fairy Dust added it still has that magical feel.

Have you tried Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino yet? Does it taste as magical as it looks? Part of me wants to order one just to take a picture of it with my nails (because I’m silly like that) but that would be a serious waste of money that could be better spent (on coffee, for example). Oh well, when you can’t drink it, why not wear it in your nails!

What do you think of this gradient? Do you see the inspiration? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! 🦄

From the Stash: Claire’s Red Carpet

Every so often I like going through the many polishes in my stash, and pulling out polishes that I may have forgotten about. Today I have Claire’s Red Carpet (circa 2010ish?) a pretty glittery red that is kind of perfect for this time of year!

Red Carpet is a glittery red polish which applie perfectly in 2 coats for full coverage. And even after 6 years, this polish has no formula issues! I love red nail polish, but I find a lot of them don’t always cover my nail line or take too many coats. That’s not an issue here, I’m guessing thanks in part to the dense micro glitters.

For this mani, I used a peel off base coat for removal so I can’t comment on ease of removal, but like any glitter I’m sure it’s fun. Never the less, I’m totally in love with the colour and I’m so glad I rediscovered this polish (just in time for the holidays!)

Anyone else have this polish (or other oldie but goodies!) hiding in the back of their stash? I’m going to try and start featuring of my old favourites every so often.

Stay tuned tomorrow for what I created over this polish.

Galaxy Nails.

Still trying to get back into nail art, so I’ve been browsing my Pinterest A LOT trying to come up nail design ideas. It’s been way too long since I did some Galaxy nails, so I decided I needed to give them another go! It also helped that I was already wearing a darker blue polish (I’m Electro over a nameless dark blue metallic Essie) which made a great base for my design.

The polishes used for this mani are:

  • Revlon I’m Electro
  • Nameless Essie
  • Essence Back to Black
  • Avon Vintage Blue
  • China Glaze Float On
  • Finger Paints Gorgeous Graffiti
  • China Glaze Fairy Dust
  • Essie Gel Setter

What are you wearing on your nails on this Mani Monday?

Sideways holo chevron moons.

Good morning ☀️

It’s been super sunny and beautiful lately, which means I obviously need to rock some holo nails while I can (because I live in Nova Scotia & it rains here… A lot.) So I grabbed my chevron nail guides from MyNailsDid Vinyls & decided on some all holo sideways chevron moons.

For this manicure, I used:

  • Layla Hologram Effects Mercury Twilight
  • Nubar Prize
  • Nubar Treaure
  • Essie Gel Setter
  • MyNailsDid right angle chevron guides.

These were definitely one of the most distracting manicures I’ve ever worn. I’m not going to lie, I kept looking down at my nails during work, & getting a little (very) distracted! It’s the power of the holo ✨ It’s just so mesmerizing.

What’s your favourite holo polish? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy Friday everyone!
