Jewel Toned Drag Marble

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday. This week is almost over (& this month!) Of course, there is a crazy Winter storm headed our way this weekend, so we’re not as close to Spring like weather as one would like. & I am so over Winter! Case in point: the super short nails that I’m now rocking thanks to crazy temperature fluctuations.

I won’t like: I’ve been struggling with what to paint on my extra short nails — my inspiration is lacking. I used to be so good at this! I decided on some pretty jewel toned drag marble nails, which is something I haven’t done in a while. Plus I thought it would be a nice way to “pretty up” my super short little nubs.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Millionails
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Essie Kimono Over
  • Essie Getting Groovy
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Late Night Lilac
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool TrioI used the smallest tip to get the cleanest drag.

It’s been a while since I attempted a drag marble, & my ring finger is a little rough thanks to bumping it before it had a change to dry enough. But I think all 9 other nails turned out really gorgeous. The trick I’ve learned to drag marble is less movements turn out better than a ton. You really want to keep them down to a minimum, otherwise you end up getting a swampy look.

I’ve actually been turning to drag marbles more than I’ve even been photographing — they look complicated, but with the exception of dry time, they don’t take that long. & I love love love how they look — plus I always get a ton of compliments!

What do you think about this drag marble look? Is this something that you would wear on your nails? Let me know what colour combinations you would love to see!

Blue Valentine Nails 💙

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday!

Today I have a fun early Valentine’s Day look to share with you I did before my tragic nail break last week. I was feeling something Valentines-y, but not pink, so I decided to recreate a look similar to one I did last year.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Millionails
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Blue Blitz
  • Essie All the Wave
  • Dimension Nails Great Blue Heron (gifted c/o: NailStuff.ca)
  • China Glaze Secret Peri-wink-le
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod!
  • Color Club On The List
  • NailStuff.ca 4mm Micro Detail Brush
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

How pretty did these turn out? I love the blues all together, & it’s a fun alternative to your usual pink on pink Valentine’s Day designs. Also I’m pretty proud of how my hearts turned out.

I even took a picture of both hands, because people always ask me if I paint both hands when I do my own nails. My apologies for the potato quality photo, I took these in not the greatest lighting.

What do you think about these blue Valentine nails? Do you like untraditional colours when it comes to holiday nails?

Let me know all your thoughts on these nails down in the comments below, & let me know what untraditional colour scheme you would do for a Valentine’s Day look!

January Blues Skittlette ❄️💙

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday!

After a week & a half almost of struggling to get back into painting my nails after being sick, I’m slowly feeling like myself again. But I feel like January is such a weird time for nail art because you’re done with holiday looks, but I feel like it’s just a smidge too early for Valentine’s Day. So what does that leave you with?

So I decided I was feeling the January nail blues. & since it’s been a while since I rocked a skittlette look, I pulled together a few blue/periwinkle polishes for a fun tonal look.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Millionails
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Essie All the Wave
  • China Glaze Ever Glaze Don’t Grape About It
  • China Glaze Secret Peri-Winkle
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Royal Hue
  • Essie Bikini So Teeny
  • Starrily Eclipse

First off, I think this look is reestablishing my love affair with blue nail polish. It’s been calling to me a lot lately, so it was fun to pull out a few favourites out of my stash drawers. It’s been a while since I rocked a skittlette look, & I find sometimes when I try to wear them, I struggle with pairing the shades together nicely. Some people, like @heysolomiya, come up with the most visually stunning skittle nails with colour combinations I could never even envision. But I think these five polishes paired very nicely, & adding the holo topper Starrily Eclipse (which I think is one of my favourite special effects toppers!) gave these shades the perfect balance.

What do you think about this January Blues skittlette? Are you feeling the January blues this time of year — what kind of nail art do you usually go for during this in-between times? Let me know what looks you’re loving right now, & stay tuned because I’ve been going through some older manicures from January’s past, & I’ve got some serious recreation plans!

Glam Nails Challenge December— Christmas Tree

Hello lovelies & happy Monday. I hope everyone had a lovely weekend — a safe Christmas for those who celebrate, & a quiet (or not so quiet) weekend for those who don’t.

We definitely had a very busy Christmas that’s for sure! & Santa definitely spoiled all of us, including some new nail polishes. Once of those newbie—which was so kindly gifted by my friend Victoria (@nailstuffca), along with a bunch others, is the base for today’s Glam Nails Challenge December look for Christmas Tree.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

I’ll have actual swatches of these shades coming over the next little while, along with lots of nail art looks, but how pretty do these Mis-matched gold Christmas trees look over this dark jewel like base of Frozen Twilight.

A little bit if Christmas spilling over.

Can you believe that this month & year is almost over?! We only a few more manicures left to share for this year! That’s kind of crazy. Another awesome year in the books!

I look forward to what 2022 has in store!

Have a lovely Monday. ✨🎄

Purple & Blue Holo Snowflakes ❄️

It’s finally here! Merry Christmas Eve! I hope everyone is all ready for Santa to come… & if you’re not ready, we’ll, I’m right there beside you! The amount of wrapping I have left to do… it’s going to be a long night!

You know Santa has an espresso machine right in his sleigh.

My final Christmas/holiday look is this pretty holographic snowflake design! Usually I wear a few snowflake designs before Christmas comes, but I’ve been slacking — maybe because we’re going to have a very green Christmas here.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • OPI DS Extravagance
  • Superchic Lacquer Throwing Shade
  • Nailstuff.ca clear stamper & scraper set
  • Assortment of BornPretty stamping plates (no longer available)

I really, really love the untraditional colour scheme of this look! It’s not what you would usually expect for Christmas & that’s why I love it. Plus you can never go wrong with holo! & I love Superchic Throwing Shade because it stamps so very well!

It all kind of reminds me a beautiful wrapping paper or gift bag. Who wouldn’t love to find a gift under their tree with this pretty wrapping paper.

What do you think about this pretty holo snowflake look? Would you wear this for Christmas morning? Let me know in the comments below!
