Hello lovelies & happy Friday! It feels like AGES since my last fashion Friday post… mostly because it’s been over a month. But that’s okay because we’re back, & we’re ready to get dressed up!
First though — let’s address the orange elephant in the room: my hair.
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that quarantine has got me down which means it’s time for fun colour hair! But in order to get my hair light enough to put a funky colour in it, I need to bleach it. Usually I use the L’Oréal Colorista All Over Bleach for prepping my hair, which I love because I can lighten my hair perfectly in one go. However, apparently everyone & their Mom is bleaching their hair in quarantine because I can’t find it anywhere. So I decided to go with another brand, which I’ve never used before, & evidently won’t name drop because it did not have the desired effect (although it also didn’t kill my hair, so that’s a plus!) However, my hair is now orange. So that’s fun!
But enough about my hair; how about an OOTD?
Today’s look is an updated version of jeans & t-shirt, this time with a t-shirt dress & jean jacket. In the Spring & Summer, a dress & denim jacket combo is my favourite go to outfit, especially for work.
Forever 21 T-shirt skater dress. Ardene Jean Jacket (similar one here).
I bought this burgundy skater dress on Clearance at Forever21 just before I got pregnant with baby #2, so I didn’t get nearly enough wear of it, so I’m glad to be able to wear it again. I love how it feels like you’re wearing a t-shirt, but has the cuteness factor of a dress! Plus the side cutouts feel really fun. You’ll probably never find me wearing a crop top, but I feel like this little bit of skin showing is just the right level of fun I need in my outfits! Plus, as someone who doesn’t have much of a defined waist, I like that it definitely gives me at least someone of the illusion of having a waist! As well, if I want to wear this dress somewhere where the cut outs might not be appropriate — like work for example — I just throw a tank top on underneath & it still gives the same effect without the skin.
I also love the little flounce of the skirt. It’s actually a fairly good length too; I’m 5’8″ so sometimes I struggle with shorter dresses because they’re too short on my long legs. This dress hits so it’s not too too short on me, & I can get away with wearing it in everyday life. Of course, I always wear shorts under my dresses just in case, but when you’re chasing after a three year old & a 11 month old, that kind of becomes a necessity.
Oh man, I seriously love this look so much. I love that it’s comfy, sporty, & versatile enough you can dress it up with flats or down with sneakers. I also love that it’s now getting warm enough that you can go outside with bare legs again, because as you can see — my legs have definitely missed the sunshine! Now that the sun is shining, I can’t wait to pull out all the dresses from my closet again. I wouldn’t expect to see pants again until Fall!
What do you think about this jeans & t-shirt update? Have you started dressing for Summer yet? Let me know what outfits you love to wear in the warmer months, & what kinds of things you’d like to see me feature coming up!
Nice style. Can’t go wrong with a denim jacket and love the dress colour too 😀
