Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. We’ve had some beautiful weather the last few days, so I’ve been soaking in the sunshine wherever I can. So when in at Shoppers recently & saw some pretty Essie shades, I decided I needed to get something bright & sunny for my nails too! & you can’t get more bright & sunny than this beautiful yellow from the Essie Flying Solo Collection: Check Your Baggage.
2 coats + Top Coat
You know, yellow nail polish isn’t always my first choice, but as soon as I saw this bright & cheery shade, I knew I needed to add it to my collection. The formula is really nice, & levels out perfectly with two coats. I added top coat, naturally, which gave it an extra little boost of shine. I’m also liking the new wider brushes that Essie has introduced, because it means less strokes of polish are needed on the nail. My one & only complaint about this shade is the fact that it gives me a bit of red hands, but that’s more the yellow colour itself & has nothing to do with the actual polish.
Oh man, I just have to say sorry about the cuticle/hand dryness. Even with a ton of hand cream & cuticle oil I am hurting. But never the less my nails look pretty, & that’s what is most important — right? Unless of course you have some suggestions to help the dry hand situation, because I am always open to suggestions.

Good morning lovelies & happy Sunday. I thought I was brighten things up a little for this week’s edition of Swatch Sunday & bring out the sunshine with my colour pick. Today’s polish pick is Color Club Almost Famous! This shade was originally released as part of the Poptastic Spring 2010 collection, & (I do believe was) eventually was added it to the permanent collection. I picked up my bottle a few years back at Lawnton’s in their permanent Color Club display.
For today’s swatches, I did 2 coats of polish plus top coat. I did have to go back & touch up the streaky spots though, where I hadn’t applied enough polish. The formula isn’t the greatest, but that is a universal yellow polish problem for me. The colour, however, is so much fun! I love the brightness of it — it’s the perfection transition shade from Spring to Summer!
Oh hello Sunshine, I’ve missed you. ☀️
If you’re looking to add this shade to your collection, I found a few links: Amazon.ca, Nailpolishcanada.com, & Amazon.com. Sadly it’s not listed on the main Color Club website, so I’m thinking the shade may have sadly been retired–& truthfully I haven’t seen it in my local Lawton’s display, so it would make sense.
Do you have a favourite yellow polish? What is your go to yellow? I’m always looking for shades outside my usual purple/blue/pink wheelhouse, so share your favourites down in the comments below!
For my third day of the 31 day nail art challenge, I went with simple nails. I love nail art, but sometimes I do have to go with something quick, if only because I don’t have the time to get super complex (or I run out of time). For this manicure, I used Sally Hansen’s Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear in “Mellow Yellow”.
I kind of love this yellow. I’m usually more of a fan of softer yellows, but I like the brightness of “Mellow Yellow“. I’ve read online about the formula being touchy, and the application for me was a little streaky. This is three coats, and I found I had to wait for the previous ones to dry before adding another. Thankfully, adding my top coat seemed to balance everything out and I didn’t have any bald spots.
Everything was topped with Sally Hansen Diamond Flash top coat, and two layers of Quo by Orly Matte sparkle finish top coat in pink.
