SWATCH SUNDAY — China Glaze Tropic Like It’s Hot

Good morning lovelies & happy Sunday. Not so much a sunny Sunday, but I feel like today’s Swatch Sunday pick makes up for that!

I haven’t really been buying much nail polish— seeing as I have quite the stash already — but I’ve been working hard lately & needed a little pick me up so I headed to my local Walmart & decided to treat myself to a couple new Summery China Glaze shades I don’t yet own.

Today’s pick — Tropic Like It’s Hot 🌴☀️

3 coats + top coat

The first thing I thought when I picked up this shade was “that’s a fun shade, but it’s not me.” However, my husband’s immediate reaction was “whoa that’s really cool” — & he rarely has reactions like that to polishes like that — so I decided to bust out of my comfort zone & pick it up — & I’m really glad I did!

This beautiful neon yellow had a surprisingly smooth & un-patchy. I did find I needed 3 coats to really make the colour pop though, but thankfully they dried fairly quickly thanks to thin coats.

The polish itself is a funky highlighter yellow, with just a touch of green to it. If I had to compare it to anything, I would say it reminds me a tennis ball for sure. & how Summer-y is that?

Tropic Like It’s Hot is absolutely a sunglasses necessary neon, in the best possible way. It’s blinding! & I love that. The perfect colour to show off your Summer tan & invoke all the beach vibes you can handle!

I purchased my bottle at Walmart 2 for $14 CAD (I also bought Summer Reign which I’m currently wearing on my toes.) I believe outside the deal, they are $7.97 CAD each.

What do you think of China Glaze Tropic Like It’s Hot? Do you love this punchy neon shade as much as I do? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below!

Happy Sunday!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Ultra HD Snap! Makin’ The Most (Trying the Butter Nails 🧈 Trend)

Hello lovelies & happy Easter. I hope no matter how you celebrate, you’re enjoying the day. & the Easter Bunny left you some goodies.

Today I’m sharing another fun Revlon Ultra HD Snap! shade. I don’t know if you’ve seen all the hype about butter nails on social media — but this shade is very on trend! This is Makin’ The Most.

2 coats + top coat

This beautiful butter yellow applied to opacity in 2 coats — although it did benefit from a layer of top coat to smooth things, as it was a bit patchy. I chalk that up to the light formula more than anything. Pastels are usually a bit more patchy than darker shades, but I definitely didn’t want to do a 3 coat as it would have just been too thick.

I’m not usually much of a yellow person (except when used in nail art designs) but I do appreciate how bright & sunny these are! They’re definitely fun to wear, especially when Spring weather is more gloomy & rainy than sunny & bright.

I can definitely understand why butter nails are all the rage. We all need a little sunshine sometimes.

Revlon Ultra HD Snap! polishes retail for $10.49 CAD at my local Shoppers Drug Mart — although they’re on sale this week for $7.99 CAD. This range has a great selection of shades, but if you’re looking to jump on the butter nails trend, this is definitely a great pick!

What do you think about this shade? Have you tried the butter nails trend yet? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

Have a Hoppy Easter!

SWATCH SUNDAY — W7 Nail Polish Mango 🥭

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. I feel like it’s been ages since I posted a Swatch Sunday. So far this week, I dug deep into my stash to feature a brand I haven’t shown much on here — that also felt bright & sunny to match the Spring weather we’ve been having.

This is W7 Nail Polish Mango.

3 coats + top coat

I won’t lie. The formula on this polish was not my favourite to apply. It was streaky, hard to apply, & took 3 careful coats for opacity. The colour is beautiful, & bright which I love. It’s definitely not a colour I reach for very often, but my husband suggested yellow nails, so I thought this was a great option!

This bottle was gifted to me by my Mum a few years ago—a Winners find I do believe—so it’s no longer available. I did look it up on the W7 Make Up Website, but no listing available. They did have a similar shade, but as it’s a UK brand I don’t think the nail polish is readily available everywhere. I could be wrong, but their US site doesn’t have any nail products listed — which is a shame because the colours they have available are just beautiful!

What do you think of W7 Nail Polish in Mango? Are you feeling this bright shade? What is your favourite Spring shade right now? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below, or suggest a shade for me to share!

SWATCH SUNDAY — China Glaze Home Sweet House Music (Summer 2015)

Good morning lovelies & happy Sunday! A beautiful, warm (humid) sunny Sunday. It’s also the first Swatch Sunday of August, which is kind of crazy because the Summer is just speeding by very quickly.

Today’s pick is a China Glaze shade originally released for Summer 2015. This is Home Sweet House Music.

3 coats + top coat

First thing I noticed about the formula on this polish was that it’s thin, & streaky. The second noticeable thing (after looking at other swatches online) is that this shade has definitely faded over the years, because it’s much more yellow than other pictures I see online. Which, considering it’s been tucked away in a dark drawer & shaken well, is disappointing. However, I do still quite enjoy the colour is is which is like a marigold yellow, & I think it’s great for this time of year. & it perfectly matches the brown eyed Susans in our garden.

It is a pretty sheer formula, which again I don’t know if that has anything to do with the aging of the polish, but I did need 3 coats for full coverage.

It’s a very pretty shade — it’s just not the shade it was, which makes me sad. However, polishes age & it’s interesting to see the effect time has on our polishes. 99% of my polishes have not had this issue, that I can see, so I wonder why this one changed so much on me. It’s kind of strange.

Again, being a 9 year old shade this guy is no longer available in current rotation. China Glaze does have a Gelaze version of this polish on their website (in the original intended colour!) for those who are gel polish fans.

What do you think of this polish? Do you have any nail polishes in your stash that has changed colour due to time? Let me know if you’ve experienced this too!

Happy Sunday ♥︎

Neon Glitter Gradient ☀️😎

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday! It’s going to be a very nice warm Spring-y Tuesday, so I feel like today’s manicure is perfect for warmer days!

I was feeling something bright, neon & poppy — & this manicure is all of those things!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifer
  • Top Coat: LA Girl Rapid Dry Top Coat
  • Ardene Bright Lights, Big City
  • Essie Expressie FX Iced Out
  • China Glaze Let The Beat Drop

These feel really fun. I like the pink/orange glitter over the bright neon yellow— which is not a colour I wear frequently—& the little shimmer from Iced Out.

How much fun are these?! I’m so ready for consistently warmer days.

What do you think of my neon glitter gradient? Is it giving off Summer vibes? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below!

Happy Tuesday!
