GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE APRIL — Tulips 💐

Hello lovelies & happy Monday! Another week is upon us, although this one isn’t looking nearly as Summer-y as the last. Today, though, I’m sharing the next prompt for Glam Nails Challenge April — tulips.

It’s kind of funny — in all the time I’ve been doing floral, I don’t think I’ve ever done a tulip design. So this was definitely a bit of a challenge for me. While it’s not my most perfect floral ever, I’m super happy with how adorable they turned out.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive Fast Dry Top Coat
  • Essie Play Date
  • Sally Hansen InstaDri Jelly Belly Cotton Candy
  • Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure. Peony Origins
  • Sinful Colours Yolo Yellow
  • Essie First Class Affair
  • OPI Life Gave Me Lemons
  • OPI My Gecko Does Tricks
  • NailStuff.ca Mermaid Tail Brush Trio

How cute do these flowers look? I would have loved to have taken a picture of them in front of my own garden, but no tulips quite yet. A few more weeks. I think this is such a perfect Springtime look. I love how colourful these are with the purple base & the yellow & pink tulips. Yes yes yes.

What do you think about this tulip design? Do you love a good bright & vibrant Spring-y design, or do you prefer things more subtle?

Have a great Monday! 🌷

GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE APRIL — Ladybug 🐞

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday! Is Spring sprung for you (well.. for those in the northern hemisphere). It’s been a beautiful week here so far, & very warm! I even wore bare legs yesterday with a dress. It was a very exciting moment.

Today I’m all about the next prompt of Glam Nails Challenge April. This is #4, I think. & the prompt is ladybug, which is actually a design I don’t think I’ve ever done on my nails. & naturally, I decided to break out my stamping tools for this particular look.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive Fast Dry Top Coat
  • Essie Mint Candy Apple (new version)
  • Starrily Vantablack
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Pucker Up!
  • Nailstuff.ca clear stamper & scraper set
  • Born Pretty Store Stamping Plate BP-L026
  • Harunouta Potted Garden stamping plate L036 (lady bug image)

First off, yes to this beautiful blue! I always forget how good Mint Candy Apple looks on the nail! I own both the old version & the new version & I adore both.

Secondly, how freaking cute is this lady bug?! I totally forgot, however, how impossible it is the pick images up off that stamping plate. This took a few tries to actually get on my nails, & I had to do some freehand touch ups, but I’m super happy with the end result! It’s the perfect little pop of colour. 🐞 & it’s lovely Spring vibes.

What do you think of these pretty lady bug nails? Do they scream Spring to you? Let me know all your comments & thoughts down below!

Happy Wednesday lovelies — it’s almost the weekend!

GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE APRIL — Easter Chicks 🐣

Hello beauties & happy Wednesday!

It’s also the second prompt of Glam Nails Challenge April! & we’re keeping with our Easter trend with Easter Chicks! 🐥

Now when I think of Easter chicks, my mind immediately goes to Peeps — you know, those squishy marshmallow chicks that I feel like are a VERY controversial Easter candy. But since I wasn’t confident in my ability to freehand some peeps, I decided to go with these cute chick Easter decals I got a few years ago.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
  • Essence Blow My Mint (Bloom Me Up Collection)
  • Formula X for Sephora Chaotic
  • Essence Nail Art Pastel Ombré
  • Chick nail art decals
  • Daisy nail art decals

How cute are these little chick decals & daisy nail art stickers? I added the little black dots for eyes myself. Definitely Spring/Easter vibes. & yes I’m not done with speckled nail vibes yet — maybe in a few days. Haha. But for right now, I’m just going to stare at cute speckled nails & obsess over them.

Also just have to do a cute shout out because today is my 9th Blog-aversary! I swear, I always forgot that it’s coming haha so once again I forgot to do a special blog post. But I still want to celebrate because an almost decade of anything is reason to celebrate.

So happy birthday Coffee & Nail Polish. 🎂

GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE APRIL – Easter Bunny 🐰

Hello lovelies & happy Monday! I’m excited because it’s April, & I haven’t participated in a Glam Nails Challenge in a while so I thought it would be fun to participate this month since it’s a Spring-y themed challenge so I thought it would be fun to participate.

The first prompt for this month? Easter bunny. Which is awesome because I love any excuse for some holiday themed nails. I browsed through my Pinterest, & settled on a cute peek-a-boo bunny look.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
  • LA Colors Mermaid Magic Sea Life
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Ski Bunny
  • Sally Hansen MG Get Mod
  • Sally Hansen MG Pretty Piggy
  • Sally Hansen MG Sugar Fix
  • Sally Hansen MG Orchid-ing Aside
  • Sally Hansen MG Montley Hue
  • NailStuff.ca 4mm Micro Detail Brush
  • Small Dotting tool (NailStuff.ca — Dotting Tool Trio)

How cute did these bunnies turn out? I was a little bit nervous about free-handing these bunnies, but I was really happy with how they turned out. They look so cute! I added the little details like the bows & flowers, but I didn’t want to add little faces because I felt like they would end up way too cartoon-y.

But they turned out perfect! Super Easter-y, & a fun look to wear. Obviously if you wanted to go a little more subtle you could just do one bunny accent, but I was in the mood to go wild!

What do you think about this Easter Bunny nail art look? Can you believe that it’s less than a week to the big day? What is your favourite Easter treat? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Pure Ice Cookies ‘N Cream

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! The first Sunday of April at that — can you believe it? I mean, I feel like I’m always saying this, but I can’t get over how quickly this year is passing. I’m happy that we’re that much closer to Summer dress weather, but wow… this year is already 1/4 over! That is crazy.

Today I’m going old school though, with a polish from deep in my stash. I’ve been living for speckled nail looks lately, so obviously that means pulling out some from deep in the past. You might remember, a few years ago, the brand Pure Ice released a collection of speckled nail polishes that I think were based on nail polishes. Naturally, I bought three at the time. I don’t often pull them out, with the exception of this time of year because I feel like they’re absolutely perfect for Easter nails.

2 coats, no top coat.

As the name implies, Cookies ‘N Cream is a white base with multisized hex glitters that gives the impression of cookies & cream ice cream.

I applied 2 coats of polish for my application — a thinner first coat, followed by a thicker second coat which gave exactly the opacity I was hoping for. The base is thin enough that the black glitters show through perfectly, giving you the multi layered effect. It also dried down quickly. which left a semi textured in some places, thanks to the layered glitters, but this could easily be fixed with a thick coat of glossy top coat.

I really, really love the different sized glitters in this polish ( & its sister shades I own Boysenberry & Orange Sorbet) versus a speckled polish like Deborah Lippmann Polka Dots & Moonbeams. & it really does look like ice cream, which just makes me think of Summer, & I can’t wait for Summer days.

It also kind of makes me wish I had scooped up all 6 shades in the collection back in 2015 because every time I wear one I realize just how much I freaking love speckled nail polish, & this trend needs to make a comeback!

What do you think about Pure Ice Cookies ‘N Cream? Do you love these speckled polishes as much as I do? Are there any nail polishes you’re hoping the Easter Bunny brings you next weekend? Let me know down in the comments below!
