SWATCH SUNDAY — ImPress The No Glue Manicure Effortless Spring Manicure

pr/gifted product.

Hey beauties — long time no see!

I know what you’re thinking — Shannon, where have you been? Well the last few months have been kind of crazy behind the scenes, & we actually moved at the beginning of this month, selling our house we’ve lived in for the last 9 years. It’s been an emotional roller coaster, but we’re happily settled in our new place so I’m excited to finally get back into the swing of things.

Today’s Swatch Sunday is a little bit of a switch up, because it’s not a polish but a review of some press on nails that imPRESS was lovely enough to gift to me. & seeing how my nails are currently short short short, I’m excited to show them off!

imPRESS was so kind when they sent me a whole bunch of their newly released designs, & it was hard to pick just one! The first set I decided to try out was this beautiful floral French tip design, with these very cool 3D flowers called Pastel Bloom.

Like the imPress mini x Wicked nails I did on my daughter, these are so easy to apply. Like all fake nails, I feel like I spend the longest time matching up individual nails to my nail beds, & laying them down to I can grab them easily for application. But, with the imPRESS line instead of having to mess with glue — which, I’ll admit I kind of hate — they already come with sticky pads attached! All you have to do is pull the clear tab away, & stick on your nail.

No glue mishaps to be seen!

Now, obviously using the tabs instead of glue–which covers the majority of the nail–means that they might not feel quite as secure as other press on nails which use glue. Personally, the only time I found this an issue was around the cuticle line. I didn’t find the sticky tab came down far enough, so I would–for instance–catch my hair under it. I also noticed that it was easily for dirt to slip under there as well.

Not cons enough to make me not wear them, but definitely something I know that could deter other people. Personally, these lasted for me through showers, work outs, & everyday general wear without any nails popping off. & to me, that is a huge win!

In fact, I’m loving these imPress nails so much that when I decided to take off this design that I had been wearing… I immediately put on another design! This one–called Elegance–felt very fun, & 90s inspired, which I couldn’t turn down.

How freaking cute, am I right?!

Over all, I’m a big fan of these press on designs, & the ease in which they have to put on — but also remove! As someone who likes to change her nails as much as her mind, that is a big bonus to me. If you’re curious to try out some of these nails, you can find them on their website, as well as in store. Here in my part of Canada, I’ve seen them most often for sale at Shoppers Drug Mart & Walmart.

What do you think of these imPRESS nails? Have you tried any of their press on nails, & what did you think? Let me know what you think, & if you would also wear these nails. I’d love to know your thoughts.

Happy Sunday!

Spring Robin’s Egg Nails

Hello lovelies & happy Monday.

Starting off this full first week of Spring… with a snowstorm. & oh, how I wish I were kidding. But it isn’t going to stop me from rocking some Spring inspired nails! & what is more Spring like than some robin’s eggs? I recently score a killer deal on an Essie shade at my local Shoppers ($1 clearance!), & it was the perfect Spring-y blue, so I knew it would be perfect for some speckled egg nails.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Maximum Grow
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive Gel Like Top Coat
  • Matte Top Coat: NailStuff Essentials Matte Top Coat
  • Essie You Do Blue
  • OPI That’s What Friends Are Thor
  • Small nail art brush

I won’t lie, these nails are actually super super easy to do. All you need to do is create some messy specks using a nail art brush — the messier the better. But the real trick to this look is obviously the matte top coat to give it that eggshell finish. & bam! Instant Spring inspired Robin’s egg nails.

&, obviously, if you paint you nail a selection of pale pastel shades, you could create Mini Egg inspired nails easily (as I have done in years past).

What do you think of my Robin’s Egg nails? Would you wear a simple nail art like this to channel Spring? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below!

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. It’s… been a while.

Pink Gel & Floral Nail Art 💖🌸

Hey lovelies! I totally meant to post this manicure last week, but I got knocked out by the cold from hell which left me ravaged & not in the mood to do any posting! But my sinuses are finally recovering, & now I can finally show this fun look I did last week!

I was super curious about doing nail art over my gel manicure base, so I wanted to give it a try. I plan on also doing some nail art using all gel, but I was curious what would happen if you painted some nail art over just gel. (Including topping it with a regular top coat.)

Products used for this manicure:

  • Olive & June Peel Off Base Coat *
  • Olive & June Gel Polish Base Coat *
  • 2 coats Olive & June Gel Polish XOXO *
  • 1 coat Olive & June Gel Polish Pink Goldfish *
  • Olive & June Gel Polish Top Coat *
  • Sinful Colors Bold Color
  • Essie Mint Candy Apple *
  • Essie Satin Sister
  • Butter London Coming Up Roses *
  • Nailstuff.ca Mermaid Tail 7mm liner brush
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool
  • China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat

**gifted/PR

I think these are so just so pretty! I will say, the quick dry top coat I used (China Glaze Fast Forward Top Coat) did dry down in a way that made the nail art flowers almost look like 3D stickers — which I thought I was very cool. I’m curious what would have happened if I had used the Olive & June Gel Top Coat — & I might have to experiment to see what happens!

As I mentioned, I’m still so new to the world of gel, so I’m enjoying playing around with it.

What do you think of this little bit of nail art? Would you like to see me do a series or feature on nail art using only gel nail polishes? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

Happy Wednesday

SWATCH SUNDAY — Essie Gel Couture New Highs 💙(Dopamine Rush Collection 2025)

PR/Gifted

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. Unfortunately, it’s a pretty blah rainy Sunday (again). But I thought I would punch things up with a fun Essie colour I was recently sent for PR! This is Essie New Highs from the newly released 2025 Gel Couture Dopamine Rush collection.

2 coats + Essie Gel Couture Top Coat

Described as a “Ultramarine” Blue on the Essie website, I feel like this blue is much more exciting on the nail than in the bottle. The formula is on the thinner side, so two coats was a must for opacity. The formula dries quickly, but an added coat of top coat gave it a more plush finish.

The colour is really nice. It’s not a navy, but it’s not a cobalt. It feels bright, even though it’s on the darker spectrum of blue shades. & I quite enjoy it! Also, looking at the rest of the shades in the collection, I might have to search out a couple more to add to my stash.

Essie Gel Couture shades are available anywhere you buy Essie, ranging in price from $11.49 CAD to $16.49 CAD (when not on sale).

What do you think of Essie Gel Couture New Highs? Are you a fan of this vibrant blue? What are your thoughts on the Essie Gel Couture line? I was definitely late to trying it, but I’m a huge fan of the formula & love all the colours I own! & I especially adore the top coat! It has a great lasting quality & dries quickly.

Let me know what you think down in the comments below!

Enjoy your Sunday!
