GLAM NAILS CHALLENGE APRIL — Easter Eggs

Good morning lovelies & happy Monday? Anyone else rocking a post Easter sugar hangover? I was pretty reserved in my treat eating yesterday, but my two kids definitely are feeling the post Sugar Rush crash.

Today is also the last kind of Easter-y prompt for Glam Nails Challenge April — the rest of the month is more Spring inspired. I’m going to kind of miss the Easter designs, but I’m also excited to focus on Spring too… especially since we’re expected to have very nice Spring temperatures coming up this week!

Today’s prompt: Easter Eggs.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive Fast Dry Top Coat
  • Matte Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen InstaDri Racing Rose
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Crying Out Cloud
  • Sally Hansen MG Sweet Pea
  • Sally Hansen MG Sun-Shower
  • Crinkled Saran Wrap

This look was inspired by those dip dyed eggs people do for Easter. This look, in particular, was my inspiration for this look — although I decided to go more pastel. I’ve never done them, mostly because I do like getting my hands dirty, but I do think they look so cool! So why not attempt the look on my nails! & I have to say, I really like how they turned out.

I used my go to Saran Wrap splatter technique to achieve these. I switched up my base colour on each nail, too, which I thought gave a fun effect.

What do you think about these Easter Egg inspired nails? Are you following around with #glamnailschallengeApril on Instagram to see all the fun designs for this month (so far)? Are you excited to see what the rest of the month brings? Let me know down in the comments below, & have a lovely Monday!

Cotton Candy Saran Wrap Splatter

Good morning lovelies & happy Tuesday! It’s a chilly Tuesday morning here & not very Spring like unfortunately. I’m so over these cold, grey days.

But I do have a cute nail art look to share today. I recently added a few new polishes to my stash—which I acquired on some good deals—so I decided to combine a few in a Saran Wrap splatter look. It’s been a hot minute since I did one of these, so I was excited. & the fact it turned out looking a bit like cotton candy was even cooler!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
  • Essie No Ex-pectations
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sugar Rush
  • L.A. Colors Gossip
  • Essie Expressie FX Iced Out
  • Crinkled up plastic wrap

I’m super in love with how this turned out. Essie No Ex-pectations turned out to be a bit more grey than I had expected, but it made for an excellent base for my splatters of colour to pop! Plus I really do think it gives off the effect of cotton candy. I also like the subtle shimmer from the bit of Expressie FX Iced Out. It gives off just enough sparkle.

What do you think of this Saran wrap splatter design? Do you like easy nail art like this? I really need to do a tutorial to show off just how easy this look is to do! Maybe when things slow down a bit, I can get that reel made!

Have a happy Tuesday. 🖤

Bright & Summery Saran Wrap Splatter

Features Gifted Product in Exchange for Content

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday! It’s a beautiful sunny Thursday here, which is super exciting! It’s actually supposed to be warm & sunny. So naturally that means I need nails that are bright & fun to match.

Recently I teamed up with TradeSecrets.ca, which is a Canadian based online seller, & I picked a few new fun Spring/Summery nail polishes to add to my stash (along with a base coat & top coat). While I’ve followed along with TradeSecrets on Instagram, mostly for their hair products — because we all know I’m hair product obsessed — I was really excited to see all the fun nail related items they sell as well. They also have free shipping on all orders.

For my first look using these shades, I decided to go with a fun & easy Saran Wrap Splatter look.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
  • Top Coat: OPI Nature Strong Top Coat
  • OPI Nature Strong Make My Daisy
  • OPI Nature Strong Cactus What You Preach
  • OPI Nature Strong Emflowered
  • Saran Wrap or some kind of crinkled thin plastic (I used some of an apple bag)

I really, really need to do a video tutorial for these, but I keep forgetting I want to until after I’ve painted my nails. But how fun did these turn out? I’m really loving these three shades! When I was browsing the TradeSecrets website, these were the three colours that screamed Summer to me most, so obviously I needed them in my life!

I definitely suggest trying out TradeSecrets.ca if you’re looking for a new place to easily pick up nail polish. They have a huge selection of OPI polishes, but also sell ORLY & Dip polish kits for those who like a longer lasting manicure. They were also kind enough to send along some hair products my way, so let me know if you’d like to see my thoughts on those as well!

What do you think about this cute design? Are you feeling these bright summery colours? Let me know what you think down in the comments below!

Spring Inspired Saran Wrap Splatter

Hello loves & happy almost Easter weekend! It’s been a beautiful week here on the East Coast — very Spring-y! I even had a chance to break out my flip flops. So I’ve been feeling all the Spring colours.

Todays look is a nail art technique I haven’t done in a while — Saran Wrap splatter. This is a technique I’ve done a lot in the past, but it’s been a hot minute since the last time, so I was excited to pull it out of my repertoire.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure Hardener
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen InstaDri Racing Rose
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • Essie Butler Please
  • Essie Play Date
  • Icing Matte Nail Polish Neon Blue
  • Crinkled plastic

How fun are these colours together? I feel like these pinks & purples & blues just go so well together. I’ve been doing this technique a very long time, & it never gets old to me. It’s a way easier option than your traditional spatter, & way less clean up. I usually only have a few places I need to clean up with acetone, versus a traditional spatter that makes quite a mess,

What do you think of this Saran Wrap Splatter look? Have you ever tried this technique before? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

Neon Saran Wrap Splatter

Hello lovelies!

It’s Thursday—almost the weekend. Unless of course your entire province is in lockdown & time no longer has any meaning. But that just means more time to paint my nails, right?

Today’s look is a throwback to one of my favourite styles — the Saran Wrap splatter. It’s no secret how much I LOVE this style, & since our days are feeling a bit more Spring-like, I needed some neon!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Pretty Peony
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Violet Voltage
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Miami Nice
  • Sally Hansen Miracle GelElectri-Lime
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Fuchsia Fever
  • Crinkled up plastic wrap

Oh man, I know this neon collection is 2 years old, but holy it is one of my all time favourite Sally Hansen collections. It’s just so bright & beautiful & I adore it. I never get tired of creating looks with it, & I’m actually shocked I hadn’t done a splatter look with it yet. Definitely an oversight. Also I like how this splatter reminds me of tie dye — I know the tie dye nail hype kind of died down a bit (no pun intended), but I still love all things tie dye. In fact, I’ve very recently found TWO tie dye shirts in the kids section at the thrift store that fit me, & I’ve been wearing them non-stop.

What do you think about this neon saran wrap splatter design? Are you feeling these neons? Do you own this neon collection from Sally Hansen, & if not, which neon nail polish collection is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below!
