Pastel Neon Half Moons

Hey beauties & happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone’s weekend & beginning of a new week was lovely. We’re quickly approaching March, & that is probably the weirdest nail art month for me because it’s the least inspiring — aside from St. Patrick’s Day, of course. Naturally, I’m craving Spring, as I have been for the last few posts, but Winter has actually hit Halifax which is lame.

So give me some neon!

Today’s look was a quick & easy look to satisfy my neon cravings. A little hint of Spring, even when it’s way below freezing.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Neon Electri-Lime
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Orchid-ing Aside
  • Paper Hole Reinforcements (Dollarama stationary section)

How cute are these! I love the pastel purple & the neon green paired together. It’s a nice bright look on a chilly day — which we’ve been having a lot of lately. I may not be able to break out the Spring dresses yet, but at least I can wear some Spring nail polishes. It’s the little things that make me happy.

Also this is a super, super easy look to do. Half moons this way were one of the earlier nail art techniques I taught myself — circa like 2011/2012 — but even after all the years, it’s still one of my easy nail art go tos. Seriously… if you’re wanting to dip your toes into the nail art game, but nervous about technique, go with this easy look! As long as you make sure your base is well dried, it’s pretty hard to muck this look up.

What do you think about these pastel neon half moons? Are they giving you all the Spring vibes? Let me know what you think down in the comments below, & if you would try this easy nail art look.

Have a lovely Tuesday! ♥︎

SWATCH SUNDAY — Essence Lilac Vibes (Neon Pastels)

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! & happy Easter. I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday (if you celebrate). Today I’m celebrating another week, & another Swatch Sunday post!

This week, I pulled out this Essence beauty: Lilac Vibes. I found this shade at my local Shoppers Drug Mart last Summer, & I have been meaning to share it ever since! But I thought since Spring is in full swing, it would be a great colour pick for this week’s Swatch Sunday post.

2 coats, no top coat

The formula on this shade is super creamy, & easy to apply. I possibly could have gotten away with one coat, but I applied a second to hide a few patchy spots on the nail. It dries to a beautiful shine, as pictured, without any top coat needed — although if I’m wearing long term, I always had top coat to help my polish last.

The colour is really pretty, & vibrant. It’s not quite pink, not quite purple. But the soft shade is enough you could get away with it for a variety of occasions. It also reminds me a bit of one of my favourite ORLY shades: Scenic Route — although Violet Vibes seems to lean a bit more on the blue side.

As mentioned, I picked this shade up at my local Shoppers Drug Mart last Summer. It wasn’t part of the core Essence display, but one of those little separate displays for limited edition shades. Like all Essence polishes sold at Shoppers, it was $2.99 CAD, which is a very good price.

It’s no longer listed as available on the Shoppers Drug Mart beauty site, but I did find the shade also listed on the Essence website as available so I’m not 100% sure if it is a core shade or not, but it does look like it is still available for purchase — although I do believe that is the US site, so shipping would not be available for Canada.

What do you think about this Essence shade? Are you a fan of Essence nail polish? Let me know what you think about this fun shade down in the comments below, & what your favourite Essence shade is!

Spring-y Pastel Sponge (Happy 8th Birthday Coffee & Nail Polish)

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday!

Sorry for being MIA this week, so far. It’s been rough — the kids have been & fighting some viruses which has led to a couple hospital trips. I actually originally had planned on posting this look yesterday, but spent the previous evening in the ER with my daughter (she’s fine!), & didn’t get home until 7am.

So not a lot of nail posting was happening yesterday. Just napping. & a very sleepy day at work.

But I did do these fun pastel sponging nails with the intention of sharing for my 8th Blog-iversary yesterday, so I really wanted to share these with you! Especially because they’re pretty, & springy, with just a sprinkling of holo glitter.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure Hardener
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Sun-showers
  • Sally Hansen MG She’ll-ebration
  • Londontown Lakur Mint No Chip
  • Essie Playdate
  • OPI Gelato on my Mind
  • China Glaze Fairy Dust
  • Latex Free Make Up Sponge

Such an easy look to do, & I always love these spongy designs for Spring. They make a great base for other nail art designs, or they’re just pretty on their own! & a layer of China Glaze Fairy Dust is pretty much mandatory, especially when sunny days are expected.

I’ve been doing these sponge nails a long, long time. When I was looking for a nail design to celebrate my blog-iversary, I wanted a look I’ve been doing a while, & this one just felt right!

Can you believe this blog has been around for 8 years now? While I’ve been blogging since it became a thing, 2003 or so, I don’t think I’ve had a continuous blog for this long. So it’s so exciting! & here is to many more years—as many years to come as the internet will have me.

Have a lovely day 💕

Glam Nails Challenge March — Abstract

Hello beauties & happy Wednesday! Hopefully a beautiful sunny Wednesday, but either way I hope you’re having a lovely start to your day. I’m excited because I have a beautiful design to share with you for the next prompt of Glam Nails Challenge March: Abstract. & when I saw that prompt, I knew exactly whose nails I was going to use as the inspiration for my abstract nails.

Grape Fizz Nails always comes up with the most beautiful & unique abstract looks, so I took a bag from her book, & decided to go with a pastel inspired abstract design, with a little bit of gold for good measure!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure Hardener
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Tutu the Ballet
  • L’Oréal Jardin Des Roses
  • L’Oréal Pistache Royale
  • Essence Take Me To Heaven
  • Essie Set in Sandstone
  • Starilly Vantablack
  • Nailstuff.ca Gold Metallic Foil Flakies (not currently in stock)
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

How fun & pastel are these? The colours look so beautiful together, & the gold just adds that extra something special. They turned out just so beautiful — I can’t get over it! Plus paired with some sunshine yesterday, they were really giving full on Spring vibes.

Can you believe that we only have 2 more prompts for Glam Nails Challenge March? I can’t believe how quickly this month seems to be going, & how close we are to Spring dresses, Easter, & days upon days of beautiful Spring weather.

I think the world needs some sunshine right now.

SWATCH SUNDAY — Beyond The Nail Blazing Blush

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday!

Today I’m excited because I have a fun bright shade to share with you that I picked up for myself for Mother’s Day: Beyond the Nail Blazing Blush. (I also picked up Aubergine & some mermaid & chevron vinyls!) I was really drawn to this soft neon pink, & thought it would be perfect for our impending Summer months!

2 coats, no top coat.

Blazing Blush is described as “a delicate pink shade with a hot pink attitude!” & honestly, I can totally see it. The polish itself is a beautiful cream formula with this underlying glow. I love that this isn’t quite a neon & isn’t quite a neon — it’s like the perfect combination of both! It also glows under UV/Blacklight, which is pretty cool.

I’m not usually drawn to pink as a first choice of polish, but I really loved Blazing Blush which is why I had to have it. It really is a great option for Summer — I’m already picturing pedicures & nail art. Also look how freaking tan this makes me look! I love any polish that gives me an instant tan.

All of Beyond the Nail shades are available via their website, as well as nail vinyls & decals, & some other neat items! All polishes are hand mixed & Canadian!

What do you think about this fun bright pink? Would you wear Blazing Blush? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!
