I know what you’re thinking — what day of the week is it? But I have so many fun polishes to share right now, I thought it would be fun to dedicate my posts this week to all Swatches! First up we have some shades from the new & improved Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure collection.
As mentioned last time I swatched this line, these shades are a more “natural” alternative to nail polish — they’re 15 free, vegan & plant based. They also boast 7 days of wear on the nail — I’m assuming, when combined with both the Good. Kind. Pure base coat & top coat.
I’m going to be honest — originally I had a different polish plan for this Sunday — new shades from the Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure. reformulation, as well as the OPI Nature Strong shades featured in my previous post. But I’ve been struggling with the cold from Hell this week, which means I’ve not been up to much, especially swatching 9 polishes, & wasn’t able to get the shades swatched.
I didn’t want to skip this week entirely though, so I decided why not go with my all time favourite OPI red: OPI Race Red.
2 coats, no top coat
This collection was originally released as part of the 2014 OPI Mustang Collection. I have a few of the shades from the collection in my stash that I’ve picked up over the years, either on clearance or at the Dollarama, but Race Red has always been my favourite. In fact, it’s probably one of my favourite red nail polishes of all time.
The colour itself is an orange leaning red. It’s a beautiful cream that applies in 2 easy smooth coats. Even after 8 years, & a whole lot of wears, it still applies like perfection for me.
Look how pretty that colour is! It’s actually very similar to the colour of our Suzuki, which is another reason why I love this shade so much. But my love of red nail polish knows no bounds, & this is no secret.
Obviously, my bottle is looking a little dusty & worn, but the polish is still perfection. My only sadness is that I only ever bought one bottle of this beauty.
As mentioned, this OPI Mustang Collection was released circa 2014, so these shades have long since gone out of mainstream circulation. I did find a few spots online, like Ebay, with bottles listed. I’m definitely going to need to find myself a dupe soon, because I’ll be very sad when my polish officially runs out.
What do you think about this OPI shade? Do you have OPI Race Red in your stash? What is your favourite OPI shade? Let me know down in the comments below!
Also stay tuned this week, because I’m determined to get those other shades swatches this week, which might mean this whole week will see some beautiful shades featured on this page!
Hello lovelies & happy Thursday! It’s a beautiful sunny Thursday here, which is super exciting! It’s actually supposed to be warm & sunny. So naturally that means I need nails that are bright & fun to match.
Recently I teamed up with TradeSecrets.ca, which is a Canadian based online seller, & I picked a few new fun Spring/Summery nail polishes to add to my stash (along with a base coat & top coat). While I’ve followed along with TradeSecrets on Instagram, mostly for their hair products — because we all know I’m hair product obsessed — I was really excited to see all the fun nail related items they sell as well. They also have free shipping on all orders.
For my first look using these shades, I decided to go with a fun & easy Saran Wrap Splatter look.
The polishes I used for this manicure are:
Base Coat: OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
Top Coat: OPI Nature Strong Top Coat
OPI Nature Strong Make My Daisy
OPI Nature Strong Cactus What You Preach
OPI Nature Strong Emflowered
Saran Wrap or some kind of crinkled thin plastic (I used some of an apple bag)
I really, really need to do a video tutorial for these, but I keep forgetting I want to until after I’ve painted my nails. But how fun did these turn out? I’m really loving these three shades! When I was browsing the TradeSecrets website, these were the three colours that screamed Summer to me most, so obviously I needed them in my life!
I definitely suggest trying out TradeSecrets.ca if you’re looking for a new place to easily pick up nail polish. They have a huge selection of OPI polishes, but also sell ORLY & Dip polish kits for those who like a longer lasting manicure. They were also kind enough to send along some hair products my way, so let me know if you’d like to see my thoughts on those as well!

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday. I hope it’s a beautiful Tuesday where you are. We’ve got some serious, almost Summer-like temperatures headed our way this week, so I’m pretty pumped!
Today though I’ve got a fun pink look to share with you I wore last week.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not a huge pink nail polish fan — which is funny, because I lived 2+ years of my life with pink hair. But I really, really like this pink tonal look.
What do you think about this pink on pink abstract stripe design? Do these say “Summer” to you?

EDIT — realized after I posted that this is my 1000th post on Coffee & Nail Polish which is so crazy! Here is to 1000 more! ✨💕💗🌸
Hello lovelies & happy Sunday! & happy Mother’s Day to all those Mums, step-Mums, GrandMums, & Dad’s doing double duty out there… & anyone else celebrating today.
Today I’m digging deep deep deep into my stash for a polish I’ve had quite a long time: LA Girl Color Addict in Extreme. This brand used to be sold at my local Lawton’s, & I added quite a few shades to my collection over the years — especially when they were on clearance!
Today’s pick is one I don’t think I’ve ever worn! But I thought the pretty colour would be perfect for this Spring-y weather, & I really wanted to see what it looked like on the nail.
2 coats, no Top Coat
The shade itself is really interesting. It’s a periwinkle blue, that has a beautiful golden shimmer. The formula was really easy to work with — it was two easy swipes for full opacity, & this was pre-top coat, but still had a beautiful shine on its own.
The colour is very beautiful. The gold shimmer gives me icy vibes, which gives me Frozen vibes. But the periwinkle colour feels very Spring-y to me. & we all know how much I love blues on my nails, especially frosty blues like this.
Sadly I haven’t seen LA Girl nail polish in my area for a long time, & could only find listings for this shade on eBay, but LA Girl cosmetics do still exist & you can find other shades by them on their website.
What do you think about this beautiful periwinkle blue polish? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below & tell me any experiences you’ve had with LA Girl Nail Polish.
