SWATCH SUNDAY — Zoya Yves

Happy Sunday my lovelies! Today’s post is a goodie–something perfect for these cooler Fall days. 🍁 Today I’m sharing a polish from the Zoya Winter 2015 collection called Yves. This beauty was found last Summer at my local Winners & has been sitting untouched in my Melmer, just waiting for the perfect opportunity to be worn. & what is more perfect that the beginning of Fall.

Yves is a sapphire blue matte polish with a scattered blue shimmer. For my swatches, I used two tricky coats, but I could have definitely gone with 3 as I had some bald spots that could have benefited from an extra coat. I also used 2 coats of thick base coat under my swatches as this is definitely a stainer. & nobody wants their nails permanently stained blue. (I’m already dealing with blue hair dye that doesn’t want to fade for me.)

This polish is definitely gorgeous. & it’s been way too long since I wore just blue on my nails. I was quite impressed with how the polish dried down (to its satin matte finish) but I think I love it even more with top coat over top–you can really see that blue shimmer & it feels much more jewel like. Down below you can really see just how stunning it is with top coat (& just ignore those spots where I could have benefited from an extra coat of polish.)

& a close up to see those blue shimmers!

Zoya Yves is definitely a stunner, & I’m living for these jewel tones right now. 💎 Fall has me feeling all these dark shades I’ve been ignoring during Summer months & I’ve ESPECIALLY missing my darker shades. They’re just so good!

I found this shade at my local Winners, but if you need this polish in your life, you can pick up the beauty at NailPolishCanada.com as well as the Zoya Website. After googling the rest of the shades in the collection, I’m definitely going to need to pick up a few of the others. You can never have too many jewel toned polishes in your collection for Fall.

What do you think of Zoya Yves? What Fall Polish are you currently wearing? Let me know down in the comments below!

Stamped Cactus Accent Nail (featuring Essence’s new “Stamp It!” plate)

Happy Friday everyone!

Today I’ve got a fun look to share with you, featuring a brand new product from Essence–their new “Stamp It!” plate which was recently released in Canada. My love for cacti everything is ongoing, so I was excited that one of the images included with a cactus. I picked up my new stamping plate during a recent outing to Shoppers Drug Mart.

It can also be purchased on the Essence website as well.

For this design, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Essence Miss Universe
  • Julep Alyssa
  • ORLY Decades of Dysfunction
  • Essence Black is Back
  • Essence “Stamp It!” Stamping plate
  • Clear Jelly Stamper

I was super impressed with how well I could pick up images from the plate to apply to my nails. There is a huge variety of different images to choose from & they definitely seem easier to do than some of my older Essence stamping kits. I still have to pick up the actual stamper, but I’m looking forward to trying it out as well… you can never have too many stamping plates at your disposal, & I find myself turning to stamping when I’m extra busy & still want pretty nails.

What do you think of this look? Have you tried out Essence new stamping plate yet? Let me know what you think by sharing your thoughts down in the comments below!

Wedding Appropriate Floral & Polka Dots

Happy Monday lovelies & a long weekend Holiday Monday at that! Going to try & make up for my lack of posts last week with a few extra this week (after a crazy last week at work with back-to-school).

First up is a nail design I wore to a wedding this past weekend. Obviously, I had to do roses & I decided to add it a few polka dots as well. To me, this design kind of looks like wallpaper, but like cute wallpaper. & I absolutely love how they turned out. But then again, when have I ever not been happy with floral on my nails!

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • ACO by Ardene Flawless
  • Essie A List
  • Essie Peach Daiquiri
  • Essie Cute As A Button
  • Quo by ORLY the Antidote
  • Essie Off Tropics
  • Essie Sew Psyched
  • Essie Absolutely Shore
  • ACO by Ardene Day Dreamer
  • Medium & Small Sized dotting tool
  • NailStuff.ca Mermaid Tail Brush

This look turned out so perfectly, just how I imagined in my head. They were the perfect nail art look for attending a wedding, actually ended up matching the dress that I wore which also had roses all over it. Not going to lie, I totally picked my dress because it matched so well with my nails!

what do you think of this nail art look? Do you have a go-to wedding look for your nails?

Have a happy Monday lovelies! ♥️

SWATCH SUNDAY — Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice

Oh my gosh, this post is so late going up! But better late than ever! Today’s Swatch Sunday post is an old Fall favourite of mine that has lived in my stash for a few years now: Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice.

Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice is a special edition polish that they release & re-release in the Fall as part of their Halloween collection. I googled it, & the first reference I could find was dated 2012. I purchased my bottle circa 2014. The polish itself is a clear base, full of gold & reddish orange glitters. For my swatches, I decided to apply it over a base of ORLY Color Blast Garnet–I did 2 coats of Pumpkin Spice over one coat of Garnet.

As you can see from my pictures & swatches, Pumpkin Spice is not a super dense glitter topped. Two coats still left the base shade visible. You could definitely build more opacity by sponging the glitter on. I definitely think that this glitter pops more over a dark base verses the red base, in person my nails looked a lot more glittery.

This is definitely a favourite Fall Polish for me & I am so darn ready for all things Fall. It’s officially September & it means I am ready. Bring on my knee high socks, plaid everything, cosy knits & Fall Polish collections. Goodbye Summer, it’s been fun.

As I mentioned above, Sinful Colors seems to re-release Pumpkin Spice as part of their Fall/Halloween collections, although I haven’t looked hard enough to see if it’s been release yet. I couldn’t find anything online about this year’s release, but we’re still pretty early. I feel like it will probably be re-released again, just because it seems to come back every year.

I guess we will have to wait & see!

Do you own Sinful Colors Pumpkin Spice? Do you love it? Share down below & if you know whether or not it will be part of this year’s Halloween display!

Purple & Grey Saran Wrap Splatter

Hello lovelies! Hope everyone is having a good start to their week. Today I have a brand new nail look to share with you featuring one of my favourite easy nail art techniques–a Saran Wrap splatter. This time, I wanted a deeper more jewel toned colour scheme (because those Fall vibes are calling me) so I picked a few of my favourite Fall-ish shades for the occasion!

For those of you who don’t know, this whole look is created easily using crinkled up Saran Wrap/Plastic Bag. You paint you polish onto the crinkles up bag & then dab it into the nail. That’s how you create the “splatter” effect. I really love doing my splatter over a “naked” base, so that some of the natural nail comes through.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: OPI Nail Envy
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • China Glaze Grape Juice
  • OPI One Heckla Of A Color!
  • OPI Angel With A Lead Foot
  • Essie Merino Cool
  • Saran Wrap
  • Edge Perfection Cutcile Barrier

Can you believe it’s almost the end of August?! I can’t. Where did our Summer go? Pumpkin Spice lattes are officially back, which I think we can all agree means that it’s officially Fall. & that means it’s going to be all about deep dark nails over here! Ooooh & Halloween. I cannot wait to create some Halloween nails too!

What do you think of this splatter look? Which colour combination would you love to see? Share down below!
