Red Toned Skittle Nails 🔥

Good morning lovelies & happy Thursday. A beautiful sunny—albeit chilly—day here on the East Coast. You really can’t ask for a better late Autumn day. It’s got just the right amount of chill to make it feel like Christmas will be here soon… without needing 4 pairs of tights under your pants. Haha.

Today I have a fun red toned skittle manicure to share with you inspired by @heysolomiya on Instagram. I know, I know… I literally just posted a skittle manicure on Tuesday, but she posted a fun reel of some different skittle looks, & I was too obsessed with hers not to try another fun colour pairing. This time, though–& truthfully, after some false starts–I decided on a red toned skittle look.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Hard To Resist Glow & Shine
  • Top Coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-chip Top Coat
  • Deborah Lippmann Through the Fire
  • Deborah Lippmann Good Girl Gone Bad
  • Deborah Lippmann New York State of Mind
  • Deborah Lippmann It’s Raining Men
  • Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow

I decided to go with my Deborah Lippmann reds because they make some of my favourite red polishes, & I had enough for almost every finger. They combination turned out absolutely perfect, which I was so happy about, because this isn’t my first time trying to recreate this look, but it’s definitely the best combination I’ve ever done. & all these reds together scream✨ Holiday ✨ to me.

What do you think about this skittle look? Do you prefer skittle pairings with all the same colour, or pairing different complimentary shades together? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

Purple Floral for @brydiedoesnails Birthday Collab!

Hello beauties & happy Tuesday. A very Monday-esque Tuesday, but I feel like that’s always the way after a holiday.

It’s feeling very Spring-like today, even though we have a big rainstorm heading our way. But while the sun is out, I thought I would share you a lovely design I did as part of a birthday collab for @brydiedoesnails birthday today!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure Hardener
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • OPI After Alter
  • Essie PlayDate
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Lacey Lilac
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • OPI Good Grief
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio
  • NailStuff.ca 4mm Micro Detail Brush

I decided I wanted to recreate this beautiful floral by Brydie, & it was not an easy decision to make! She has so, so many beautiful designs–especially floral!–that I must have saved quite a few trying to decide. Bit this soft purple just worked so well with the semi-sheer base. The over all look turned out more beautiful than I could have ever imagined, & I’m very, very happy with them.

Here is a look at all the beautiful designs done in honour of @brydiedoesnails! You can check out all the looks by clicking on the hashtag #brydiesbirthdaycollab on Instagram.

Smooshy Marble Nails (inspired by @grapefizznails)

Hello lovelies & Happy Wednesday! I hope everyone is having a lovely week so far. Here on the East Coast you can feel that Winter is quickly approaching — it was downright cold this morning. & I am not a girl who enjoys the cold! Especially because it absolutely wreaks havoc on my nails if I get busy, & forget to keep up with my nail care routine!

But enough about the cold, let’s concentrate on the good stuff: this icy smoosh design inspired by @grapefizznails! Anne is a fellow Canadian nail guru who creates the most stunning smoosh nails I’ve ever seen! Literally, it’s like witchcraft I swear. As soon as I saw her latest smoosh design I knew I needed to attempt a recreation ASAP.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Essie Under The Twilight
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Tutu Ballet
  • Sally Hansen MG Get Mod
  • Essie Getting Groovy
  • Sinful Colors Twilight Twinkles
  • NailStuff.ca Clear Stamper

How absolutely gorgeous did this turn out? Obviously nothing compared to the original, but I think I channeled my inspiration very well. It gives me a nice Fall Icy feel, which works well with these chilly November days. It was also pretty easy to create as well. Anne has some pretty awesome tutorials on her instagram on how she creates her smoosh marbles, as well as drip marbles & other nail art! So definitely check them out, especially if you want to recreate this look as well.

What do you think about this smooshy marble design? Do you think my recreation lived up to its inspiration? Would you wear this look on your nails as well? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

Glam Nails Challenge August — Papaya

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday!

It is Wednesday, right? Haha I’ve been so busy with work, I swear I’ve lost track of the days. But I DO know that it’s time to share prompt #6 for #glamnailschallengeaug: papaya.

Seriously, I’m loving this challenge for breaking me out of my normal comfort zone, because I never would have thought to ever create nails inspired by papaya otherwise. I was inspired initially by this Pinterest design, but decided to do my own spin on it. I like that it’s a cross between fruit & an abstract design.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Essie Speed Setter
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Sunkissed
  • Sally Hansen CSM Off The Shoulder
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Electri-Lime
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Blacky-O
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio
  • NailStuff.ca 7mm detail brush

First off, please excuse any hints of blue nail polish that stained the tips of my fingers. haha I dyed my hair blue last Thursday, but still had a ton of dye that was transferring my hands everytime I touched my hair — including my nails!

Second, I’m so excited with how freaking adorable this manicure turned out! Does it look like a legit papaya? I mean… maybe-ish. It’s an artistic representation at the very least. & I think they’re very cool! They are also very Summery & fun, which is perfect for these hot & humid days of Summer. Also after my previous manicure, I feel like I needed some brightness in my life!

What do you think about this papaya inspired look? Are you feeling the abstract vibes, or do you prefer a more literal design? Let me know down in the comment below!

Red, Navy & White

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday! Can’t believe this week is going by so quickly. But also, I have the next two days off work so I have big BIG plans. Cupboard organizing plans. It’s very exciting.

But first, how about some nail art? That’s what you’re all here for, right?

I finally decided to pull out my nail vinyls, because it’s been a while, haha. I was feeling coral/red with some stripe-y accent nails, so that’s exactly what I did. Actually I was inspired by this look after some Pinterest-ing, & thought it was be an excellent nail art combo.

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Illamasqua Aorta
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod!
  • Essie After School Boy Blazer
  • SnailVinyls straight nail vinyls (multiple thickness)

Such a classic combo, & I really like it. I feel like I’ve been neglecting my vinyls so much so it was nice to pull them out again. Plus I could never even attempt to freehand lines this straight. I also really like how simple this colour combo is, but that the red gives you that bright pop of colour. It’s definitely a fun combination. I might not wear a head to toe coral suit with striped shirt, but I can definitely achieve a similar look in my nails!

What do you think about this look? Wojld you wear a combination like this? Let me know in the comments below. & speaking of nail vinyls — I just stocked up on some mermaid vinyls from Beyond the Nail, so stay tuned for some fun mermaid nails to come!
