Matte Spring Floral Accent Nail

Hello lovelies & happy Friday!

The weekend is finally here, which is always exciting. Of course, I work all weekend, but that is besides the point . The weather is finally beginning to feel more Spring-like around here, on occasion, so naturally I want to match that mood with my nails.

Especially since around here, it can turn back to Winter in the matter of a few hours.

I’ve really been craving Spring florals so much lately. Floral just makes everything better. & I just thought a floral would look so beautiful as an accent to this new glittery polish I recently picked up.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Sally Hansen Good. Kind. Pure Hardener
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Matte Top Coat: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Matte Top Coat
  • Glam Doll Electronia
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod
  • Sally Hansen MG After Alter
  • OPI Two-Timing the Zones
  • L’Oréal Jardin Des Roses
  • Essie Off Tropic
  • L’Oréal Pistache Royale
  • Sally Hansen MG Blacky-O
  • NailStuff.ca 4mm Micro Detail Brush

How cute does this mani look paired against the flowers I got at work? Give me all the florals!

I really like the simplicity of this floral over the glitter, & the matte top coat brought everything together. It gives the glitter polish the look of almost robin’s eggs–serious Spring vibes–& the white flower pops against the blue base. I love it.

Brown & Gold Shattered Glass Glitter Placement

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday!

Can you believe we’re in the final days of September? It’s kind of crazy. Where has this month gone already? It’s certainly been a busy month at our house with school starting. I can’t believe that we’re already a month in… & Summer is already feeling like a distant memory. Although, I cannot lie — I’m super pumped for my favourite month: October!

Now that we’re officially deep into Autumn, & the late September weather is in full force, I’m really feeling the Fall nail art. I realized the other day I haven’t done a shattered glass nail art design in way, way too long. I was wearing this beautiful brown shade, & realized it would be the perfect base for some gold shatter glitters, so I decided that was just the nail art look I needed in my life.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Sinful Colors Essen-chills Smoky Palo Santo
  • Sinful Colors Twilight Twinkles
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

First of all, how absolutely beautiful is this brown shade? This is another one of the Sinful Colors Essen-chills scented shades that I picked up at Walmart earlier in the month. I really love the dense silver shimmer with the dark, dark brown base. & I know I keep saying this, but I’m just absolutely obsessed with brown nail polish, which is such a weird thing for me because I was not expecting to be a brown nail polish girl. But I totally am!

Second, this gold shard glitter goes so well over top. I used to be absolutely obsessed with these style of manicures a few years ago, & I think I need to bring them back again. It’s such an easy look to achieve, because it requires minimal tools. Sure, it does take a bit of time to do… but not nearly as much as you would expect! I think I’ll have to keep my eyes out for more of these style of glitter polishes

What do you think about this nail art look? Are you feeling these shattered glass nails? Have you ever tried a glitter placement look like this? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below — & get excited because Halloween designs are coming very soon!

Glam Nails Challenge September — Night Sky 🌌

Hello lovelies & happy Wednesday!

Hope everyone is having a lovely week so far. Today I’m pumped to share with you another design for Glam Nails Challenge September: Night Sky. I can’t even remember the last time I did night sky/galaxy nails, so I was really excited for this prompt. It’s been too, too long. Plus my nails are feeling super long right now, & I always think galaxy designs look amazing on long nails.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie First Base
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • Sally Hansen Insta-dri Midnight Drive
  • CND Vinylux Lost Labyrinth
  • Zoya Devin
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Get Mod!
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Make It N-Ice
  • NailStuff.ca 7mm detail brush
  • Latex free make up sponge

How cute did these turn out?! Plus I got to try out a bunch of my new shades that I’ve purchased recently — I’ve been on a bit of nail polish buying spree — so I combined they into this look. I love the different levels on blue, & that the blues are most complimentary. It gives it more of the appearance of an actual sky you could be looking at from your backyard, rather than being in space. Also how adorable is this little crescent moon that I hand painted? It definitely took me a second to get it perfect-ish, but I love how it turned out.

I just love them!

How are we feeling about this manicure? Do you like how they turned out? Are you excited about the prompts to come? Don’t forget to check out #glamnailschallengeSeptembe on Instagram to see everyone else’s awesome nail art looks for this prompt as well!

SWATCH — Beyond The Nail Paparazzi Flash (May 2021 PPU)

<<Gifted/PR Sample>>

Hello lovelies & happy Thursday!

Today, I’ve got a very exciting Swatch to share with you. I know, Thursday is an unusual day for a Swatch Post from me, but to be completely honest—lockdown #3 has me feeling seriously unmotivated & defeated. But I really, really wanted to share this beauty, so let’s break with tradition!

So today’s nail polish beauty I’m sharing is Beyond The Nail Paparazzi Flash from the May 2021 Polish Pickup drop.

2 coats, no top coat

Paparazzi Flash is described as “a blue based microglitter bomb in a clear base with flashes of holographic multicoloured microglitter” which fits it pretty well. The glitter is definitely dense, which creates that great flash of different colours. I applied two coats of polish, but I definitely think I could have benefitted with three thin ones — out on the go, especially in the sunshine, it wasn’t as noticeable, but in my swatch photos you can definitely see a bit of my natural nail peaking through. Next time I wear it, I think I might sponge the polish on instead of strokes to really get the glitter dense. I think it would look amazing.

You can really see how dense the different glitters colours are in this bottle shot. There are so many different glitters–it’s a gorgeous combination. & obviously, you cannot go wrong with holo. That’s pretty much just my life motto at this point–just add holo. It makes everything better. I’m also really curious to see this shade in a glitter gradient & used as a topper over another shade. I think both will look amazing!

As I mentioned, this shade is an exclusive release as part of the May 2021 PPU drop, so it is officially available tomorrow (May 7th) until May 10th via the Polish Pickup website for $11.50. So if you need to grab yourself a bottle, definitely pop over to PPU tomorrow, & add one to your cart.

SWATCH SUNDAY — Deborah Lippmann 99 Luftballons

Hello lovelies & Happy Sunday! & happy Valentine’s Day! 💗💕 Hope your day is filled with every kind of love — from Friends, from Family, from Pets. & if you’re just not into the holiday what so ever, don’t forget: tomorrow is 50% off chocolate day.

Today I’ve got one more pink polish to share— Deborah Lippmann 99 Luftballons!

3 coats, no top coat.

Base is a beautiful, but sheer, fuchsia pink jelly with an assortment of multi coloured glitters. Like with most polishes like this, I would usually layer it over a corresponding shade to cut down on coats required — & keep clean up from being as complicated & frustrating. But for my swatches, I wanted to show the polish in its true glory.

I will say, I have a few glittery shades like this from Deborah Lippmann, & this shade versus Stronger was definitely a little less packed with glitters. If I wanted to wear this shade on its own, & cut down on coats, I would probably sponge the glitter on instead.

I would just make sure to wear a peel of base coat first!

I originally got this mini bottle as part of a bigger set via Winners a few years ago. From the looks of things, this shade was originally released in 2013, so the only listings I could find for it were via Ebay & Poshmark. It could also pop up at places like Winners, Marshall’s or TJMax as those stores seem to get old school shades like this all the time.

It’s definitely a pretty glitter to wear for whatever occasion you may need a little extra sparkle.

What do you think about Deborah Lippmann 99 Luftballons? Would you wear this pretty pink glitter? What is your favourite glitter polish? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!
