SWATCH SUNDAY—China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald (Fall 2010 Vintage Vixen Collection)

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. The first Sunday of November! I hope everyone had a fantastic Halloween. I definitely ate my weight in mini bags of Sour Patch Kids & Starbursts.

But now we’re moving on from Halloween, at least for another 363 days, & it’s time to focus on the latter part of this year! I thought for today’s Swatch Sunday post I would pull a favourite from my stash to share, that is the perfect colour story for a November day. This is Emerald Fitzgerald from the 2010 vintage vixen collection.

2 coats + top coat

The formula on this beautiful dark green was a bit on the thin side, but easy to apply. It needed two coats for full cover, but as you can see from my swatches, it covered beautifully. For a nail polish that is potentially 15 years ago — I purchased mine on clearance circa 2013 or so — she doesn’t seem affected by age at all. The dark green colour has a beautiful shimmer that’s very easy to see both in the bottle & on the nail.

Close up shot really shows of that shimmer that’s so prevalent in the formula & it’s truly stunning. It gives this colour a little bit more depth which is just stunning. & I’m not usually a green kind of girl, but I think because this one has kind of a blue-ish undertone to it, it has always drawn my eyes more than your typical green.

It really is the perfect green for this inbetween time after Halloween, but before Christmas/Holiday designs start. It’s just such. stunning jewel tone.

What do you think about this old school China Glaze shade? Like I mentioned, I purchased this guy going on 13 years ago — & it was released 15 years ago — so she’s not easily found in circulation nowadays, but I did find a few listings for it online when I was trying to find out information about it’s original released.

Happy Sunday!

SWATCH SUNDAY — Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Hot Cocoa Cuddles (Holiday 2024)

Good morning, & happy Sunday.

I don’t know about where you are, but here on the East Coast we’ve gone from balmy & hot to crisp sweater weather almost overnight. Which, as a girl who dreams of wearing her knee all boots, all year round, I couldn’t be happier!

So naturally that means I want to wear all the Autumn colours — or Autumn adjacent — all the time. Today’s polish pick is actually from last Winter’s Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Holiday Collection, but I feel like this colour fits in perfectly for this time of year. This is Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Hot Cocoa Cuddles.

2 coats + top coat

So I actually got this shade at my local Shoppers Drug Mart during a promotion for their Beauty Mingle Event. You pay $5 for a spin on their wheel, & you can win a prize. My Mum was playing, letting my kids each have a spin, & my daughter landed on FREE NAIL POLISH. There was a few beauties left from previous collections, but ultimately I landed on this beauty as it was the one from last year’s Holiday collection I had been most fixated on.

The formula on Hot Cocoa Cuddles is a beautiful chocolate brown shimmer, densely packed with holographic scattered glitters. It reminds me a bit of OPI My Private Jet, although the base colours are definitely different (& the scattered holographic glitters in the latter definitely apply to the nail much more densely.)

You can see the beautiful copper shimmer that comes through, with those scattered holographic glitters. I do wish the holo glitters were as dense on the nail as they are in the bottle, but you do still get those flashes of rainbow. Personally, I think this colour is perfect for Autumn! Deep reds, burnt orange, bronze-y browns, & any jewel tones — those are the shades I love for September! & Hot Cocoa Cuddles fits perfectly into that colour palette — plus the time is just too cute!

What do you think of Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Hot Cocoa Cuddles? Do you remember this shade from last year’s Holiday collection? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

&, as always, I would love to hear what you’re wearing on your nails right now, & what colours your loving right now.

Happy Sunday

Autumn Tonal Skittle 🍁🍂🌻

Good morning loves & happy Wednesday. We’re mid-week through the first week of September! & tomorrow marks the first day of school around here. So it’s a very exciting week all around!

It’s also feeling very Autumn-y, so I’m excited to share some skittle nails which match the mood. (& would be perfect to wear while sipping some apple cider or a pumpkin spice latte!) 🍁🍂

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Top Coat: Essie Good To Go Top Coat
  • Base Coat: Essie Hard to Resist (purple)
  • China Glaze Buffalo Bills Bills Bills (thumb)
  • China Glaze Modern Auburn (index)
  • China Glaze Spice to Meet You (middle)
  • China Glaze Loves You A Latte (ring)
  • China Glaze The Snuggle is Real (pinky)
  • Essie Separated Starlight *pr

I think China Glaze is one of my favourite brands for Autumn nail polish releases. The colours, the formulas — just perfection.

I love a good Fall tonal skittle. It’s so much fun combining some of my favourite Autumn shades for a quick & easy look — & the use of the glitter brings everything together even more!

What do you think about this Fall skittle look? Do you love this combination of colours as much as I do? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below.

SWATCH SUNDAY — OPI Green On the Runway

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday. & happy Halloweekend! Did anyone dress up & go to any fun Halloween parties?

Today I’m sharing my last kind of Halloween-y shade of the season. To be fair, I don’t own a lot of actual Halloween shades (that I haven’t shared on here already) but I saw this OPI mini bottle in my stash & thought it was a great spooky colour. & if it looks familiar, that’s because I also used it for the base of my last manicure.

This is OPI Green on the Runway from the 2014 OPI Coca-Cola collection.

3 thin coats + top coat

This beautiful duochrome shade has a thin formula that requires multiple thin coats, but it’s worth it. The dark green base flashes like a bronze-y brown depending on the light. There is almost a metallic quality to the green base as well, which I like a lot.

I believe the 2014 Coca-Cola collection was released as a Summer collection, but this shade just feels straight up Autumn to me. I didn’t really jump on them when they were first released, but when I was perusing through my local Chatters last Christmas, I saw this little mini bottle for .99 cents & had to pick it up.

& I’m so glad I did! It’s such a beautiful shade that works both for spooky season, & a great transitional shade into the impending holiday season.

What do you think of OPI Green on the Runway? Did you pick up this shade when it was originally released? Let me know all your thoughts in the comments below!

SWATCH SUNDAY — China Glaze Glamcore

Hello my lovelies, & happy Sunday. The first Swatch Sunday of September. The mornings are cooler, the humidity is non-existent, & I’m really for some darker nail polish.

I dug through my nail polish stash, trying to decide on what shade of should start off the Autumn vibes with, & found this beauty from China Glaze. Glamcore is a beautiful deep dark purple shimmer, originally released as part of the Fall 2017 Street Regal collection.

1 coat, no top coat

If you’re looking for a beautiful Autumn shade, this is definitely the vibe. In the bottle, it’s a bit of a different shade with this kind of dusty blue that doesn’t really translate onto the nail. But the colour you do get, this dark & vampy purple, is spectacular.

The formula on this shade is also great — it’s thick in the coverage department, but easy to apply, so I only needed one coat. The brush on this baby is the only downside — it’s very skinny, which can make application, especially around the cuticle line, more difficult. You get kind of see where I struggled a bit for clean cuticle application (although I think I did a not too bad job!)

Is this not a stunning polish? We all know next to a good red, I love a good purple. & this is prime purple season, so expect that you’re probably going to see a few over the next couple months. Also, China Glaze Fall collections have always been my favourite collections, & I have quite a few on here from over the years that I don’t think I’ve shared on here.

Sadly this shade is 6 years old, so it’s no longer in rotation. I score this shade a few years later at my local Winners (hence the label) so the possibility exists that it could pop up again at one of those stores in limited released.

What do you think of China Glaze Glamcore? Do you remember the 2017 Street Regal collection, or own any of the shades from it? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below, & what current Fall/Autumn 2023 Nail Polish collection you’re obsessed with!
