Easy glitter gradient featuring OPI Starlight collection. 

 Last month, I was lucky enough to to be sent some gorgeous OPI polishes by Preen.Me from the 2015 Holiday collection. If you follow my Instagram, you’ve probably seen a few designs I’ve posted using the six gorgeous polishes I was gifted with. Today I have another fun manicure using these pretty holiday polishes to share. 

  
 
The two polishes I used for this manicure were In The Moon for Love and Infrared-y to Party. To accomplish this look I started with a base of In the Moon for Love, and applied a coat of Seche Vite to speed up the drying process. Then, using the brush in Infrared-y to Party, I applied the beautiful glitters at the base of my nail, spreading some glitter upwards lightly. Let dry slightly, then seal everything in with your quick dry top coat and bam! You have pretty sparkly nails to love and enjoy.

And so it begins… My first Christmas-y nails of the year. 

 It’s heeeeeeeere. 

Of course I’m talking about the Christmas (or insert whatever season Holiday you celebrate! 😁) season. The malls are filled with Santas as far as the eye could see, so I thought it was about some I started some Christmas-y nails. 


The polishes I used for this manicure were:

  • OPI Just BeClaus
  • China Glaze Ruby Slippers
  • Essie Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Lo
  • Born Pretty Store stamping plate (item #5695)
  • Seche Vite. 

It’s been a long time since I did any stamping and this was not an easy endeavour! It seriously took me about 8 tries before I was happy with how they turned out. (First world nail art problems for real!) But when I finally did get them right… I absolutely love how they turned out! Reminds me of pretty Christmas wrapping paper.

“Shattered Glass” glitter placement. 

 You may be noticing lots of versions of the shattered glass manicure popping up online. I’ve been really wanting to give it a go, but cutting up teeny slivers of irredesant paper seemed a little overwhelming. So instead I pulled out my bottle of Color Club Diamond Drops for a little glitter placement. 

  
Polishes used for this manicure were:

  • China Glaze Don’t Get Elfed Up
  • Color Club Diamond Drops
  • Seche Vite
  • Small size dotting tool. 

This mani is super easy to do. You start off with a dry base colour (I used China Glaze Don’t Get Elfed Up from the Cheers 2015 collection). Once dry, I used a small sized dotting tool to fish out different sized glitter shards from Diamonf Drops and create the shattered glass patterns. When I had filled in the patterns on all my nails, I sealed everything in with two coats of Seche Vite–although I probably could have went with three as some glitters were still sticking up in some places! 

 
I love these. So much, I had to wear them for two days! Diamond Drops has the most incredible holo effect, I couldn’t stop staring at my nails! This would definitely been a fun design to wear to any holiday parties coming up, or even New Years Eve!

Q&A

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving everyone! 🍁🍂 I hope all who celebrate are enjoying whatever goodies they had on the menu, and if you’re not celebrating I’m sending pumpkin pie vibes your way! (We’re enjoying our gluten-free pumpkin pie as we speak!) I’m a little late getting up my Q&A but better late than ever!  I was excited that quite a few people asked questions so I hope you’ll enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed answering!

  1. @vasso.nails—Where are you from? Halifax Nova Scotia Canada.
  2. @jazzynailedit—What do you like more, coffee or nail polish? This is actually such a tough question but I think I’ll have to go with nail polish! If I had to, I think I could definitely stop drinking coffee. But I don’t think I could go without painting my nails! 
  3. @magickismight—Do you do your nails every night? you just post so many and I’m so curious! I don’t think I’d have the patience. Yep! Working in retail usually means I end up with chips in my polish by the end of the day, and I can’t stand chipped polish! So unless I’m really exhausted or not feeling well, I almost always do them before bed.  
  4. @polished_yogi—When did you get started with doing your nails? And what’s your favorite/least favorite designs? I’ve always loved polish. My first “nail art” was probably attempting mimicking french manicures because I loved the look of arcylic french manicures that Kaley Cuoco wore on 8 Simple Rules! I would constantly redo them every day because they would chip and it made me so mad! I started playing around with other nail art occasionally in 2010 when I started discovering nail art and other people who loved nail polish (although back then I had a very modest collection of only about 50-60 polishes!) My favourite designs to do are definitely chevron moons or polka dots! And my least…. hmmm… I’m not sure what I like least! Do naked nails count? 😉
  5. @the_virago—Not a question but a comment – I’m glad I’m not the only one who broke a nail and had to file them back.  I know the feeling. I always feel like I’m the only person on Instagram who ever has a bad break! I wish I knew the black magic secrets to keep them strong forever!
  6. @liz9245—Do you do your nail art on both your hands? Absolutely! My cinderella hand isn’t always perfect but I always paint her the same! 
  7. @heidiholman18—Can you post a picture of the collection of nail polish you have? I don’t have any recent pictures of my whole collection (because it’s split between two rooms in our house) but I do have a couple pictures of the part in our bedroom.                                                                                                                                                                                                     FullSizeRender IMG_5668                           
  8. @thekapriegirl—What is your favorite perfume? I wish I had one! I’m pretty allergic to most scents so I don’t wear perfume ever! I did used to love Clinique Happy when I was a teenager though–I had a little bottle of it when I was 12-13 and I used to wear it on occasion.

Halloween Bestie Twin Nails with @25_sweetpea

 As part of #themedthursday on Instagram, @25_sweatpea and myself joined together for the graveyard prompt from some fun graveyard inspired nails! 

  


The polishes I used for this annicure were:

  • China Glaze Boho Blue
  • China Glaze X-Ta-Sea
  • QUO by ORLY striping polish. 
  • Seche Vite
  • L’oreal The Matte Velvet top coat. 

   
I’ve decided to participate in Themed Thursday’s for October to encourage myself to get out of my nail art comfort zone a little bit! I’m so happy with how my graveyard nails turned out!
