SWATCH SUNDAY — Claire’s Khaki Green

Good morning lovelies & happy Sunday! Another beautiful sunny Sunday. I know we still have a little under a month of Summer left (according to the calendar) but man oh man, do I feel the Autumn polish vibes calling. So I decided to pull out one of those more Fall-esque shades for today’s Swatch Sunday post. 🍂🍁

This is Claire’s Khaki Green.

2 coats + top coat

I’ve written before about my absolute love of Claire’s polishes, even after all these years. Working for the company really introduced my absolute nail polish obsession, especially they were always very good for duping current trends in their polish brand — like crackle, feather, etc.

Khaki Green is a beautiful olive geeen with a stunning shimmer of golden bronze that really pops on the nail, especially in the sunshine. It is definitely giving late Summer/early Autumn, & would be the perfect addition to any Fall nail polish collection. & I love how the shimmer actually shows up better on the nail than in the bottle, which I feel like is virtually unheard of (it’s usually the other way around.)

Seriously — look at that shimmer. It’s just so stunningly beautiful!

The formula on this guy was good & easy to apply. It actually had a good shiny finish, although I did add top coat to really gloss it up. Over all, a good shade from a mainstream brand that isn’t necessarily known for their nail polish. I always love when you kind find hidden gems where you wouldn’t normally think to look.

Sadly, this shade is a few years old now so (I’m guessing) no longer in rotation. But I definitely recommend checking out the shades they release, because there are always fun colours & finishes you wouldn’t expect.

What do you think of Claire’s Khaki Green? Do you like this shade of olive green with shimmer? Is this kind of colour one you would reach for come Autumn? Let me know your thoughts down in the comments below!

Happy Sunday 🖤

Purple-y Leopard Print

Hello lovelies & happy Tuesday! It’s hot hot hot out there — feeling close to 40 degrees C today with humidity — so going to need to keep well hydrated!

Today I’m sharing an old classic when it comes to nail art: leopard print. It’s been a while since I wore any leopard on my nails (last September) so I thought I was due!

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: Essie Here to Stay
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Olive & June House of O&J *Gifted
  • Olive & June How Do You Spell Bougainvillea? *Gifted
  • Olive & June Starshower *Gifted
  • Sally Hansen InstaDri Ghouls Night Out *Gifted
  • NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio (tiniest size) *gifted
  • Nailstuff.ca Mermaid Tail 7mm liner brush *gifted

How cute is this leopard design? I love the colours together, the added sparkle from Starshower in the middle of my leopard spots — just everything. Plus leopard nails are so easy to do, I really should do them more often. I’ve always loved a good spotted pattern; the amount of leopard print clothing I have owned over the years is impressive.

What do you think about this leopard design? Are you a fan of patterned designs like this? As always, leave a comment down below! I love hearing what you think!

SWATCH SUNDAY — China Glaze Coconut Kiss

Good morning beauties, & happy sunny Sunday. The weather is feeling more & more Summer like. A girl could get used to sunshine like this! Obviously that meant I needed to dig through my stash for something summery that I haven’t shared yet.

& China Glaze Coconut Kiss is obviously the perfect choice!

2 coats + top coat

China Glaze Coconut Kiss is a beautiful deep purple with a metallic finish. The formula was on the thinner side, which meant the application was easy & built to opacity in just two coats. I love the deeper purple shade, but it also has a stunning flash of lighter purple/fuchsia depending on how you move your hand.

The shimmer just brings this polish to the next level!

Like come on, how pretty is the polish?

& the great new is this shade is part of China Glaze’s permanent collection so it’s easily available anywhere you buy China Glaze nail polish.

What do you think about China Glaze Coconut Kiss? Are you a fan of this pretty purple polish, or have it in your own collection? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

Purple Drag Marble 💜✨

Hello beauties & happy Monday! I hope you’re having the most wonderful start to your week. It’s a beautiful sunny Monday here, with potential to get warm-ish, which has me feeling quite happy.

Today I’m showing off a pretty purple drag marble I did recently. I’ve been really into my purple polishes lately, so I’ve found myself reaching for them quite frequently. All the shades in today look are also OPI purples from my stash.

The polishes I used for this manicure are:

  • Base Coat: China Glaze Calcium Gel Fortifer
  • Top Coat: Seche Vive
  • OPI Infinite Shine Mariachi Makes My Day
  • OPI Infinite Shine Sickeningly Sweet
  • OPI Infinite Shine Sound of Vibrance
  • Small dotting tool — NailStuff.ca Dotting Tool Trio

Oh man, the thing I love most about a drag marble design is that not only is every manicure unique, every nail ends up being unique! & I always have a favourite. For this design, I think my ring finger & thumb turned out my most favourite on this hand. But I just really love the combination of these 3 colours — it turned out so beautiful.

What do you think about this pretty purple drag marble? Have you ever dried a drag marble before? I definitely find using a quick dry top coat helps make it easier to do, because sometimes I can end up with pretty thick polish.

Happy Monday 🖤

SWATCH SUNDAY — Pacifica Plant Magic Tangerine Pop 🍊✨

Good morning & happy Sunday!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. & happy Mother’s Day to those who celebrate & are celebrated. I know I’ve continued to be quiet on here, but it’s been a rough week. But I’m here, & I have a beautiful Spring-y shade to show off for this week’s Swatch Sunday: Pacifica Plant Magic Tangerine Pop.

3 coats + top coat

This beautiful shade was picked up on clearance at Shoppers Drug Mart when they were clearing out their Pacifica shades.

The formula on this beauty is a a kind of shimmery frosted pale orange with a gold & faint green flash of shimmer. It is thin though, so I really had to build my layers in order to cover my nail line fully. You want to be careful about this though, because the formula has that frostiness to it that shows mistakes easily.

The colour is such an unusual choice for me—I’m not really an orange polish girlie—but I thought the shimmer was so pretty on this one I had to get it! It definitely takes some work & patience for a pretty application, but I also think with its thin formula you could get away with using it as a topper as well.

As I mentioned, I purchased my bottle at Shoppers Drug Mart before my location discontinued it. However, it is still available c/o: the Pacifica website for $10.00 USD so if you need this shade in your life, definitely check it out. I would imagine it is also available at other locations where Pacifica is sold.

What do you think of this pretty & unique orange polish? Have you tried any of the other Pacifica shades before? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below!

Happy Sunday! 🖤
