SWATCH SUNDAY — Morgan Taylor Looking For A Wingman

Hello lovelies & happy Sunday!

I had originally had different plans for my Swatch Sunday post — I had done a couple Insta-polls asking what people wanted to see for this post, & the consensus was still Summer-y & something new… but life got in the way (aka my 1 year old refusing to sleep) so instead I grabbed an untried shade from my stash that I bought pre-COVID times. & I think today’s shade is perfect for impending Fall weather: Morgan Taylor Looking For A Wingman.

Looking For A Wingman was originally released in 2016 as part of their Fall Sweetheart Squadron Collection. The shade is a beautiful (slightly) pink leaning burgundy cream, which is absolutely perfect for Fall!

For my swatches, I did 2 coats over my base coat, plus finished it with Essie Speed Setter top coat. Usually I would use Gel Setter, as it gives the glossiest finish, but my local Shoppers was all out when I went to pick some up.

The formula was really easy to work with, & the opacity built easily in two coats with no weird patchiness. Reds always seem to be hit or miss in formula, I find, so I’m very happy when I find an easy to apply one! As you know, I’m such a sucker for a good red!

What I really like about this shade is even though I would consider this a Fall shade, the colour itself is bright enough that it works as a good transitional shade. Am I the only one who has colours she prefers for seasons? I feel like people think I’m a little strange because I have set “Spring/Summer” shades & “Fall/Winter” shades. Maybe it’s my years of retail seeping into my brain?

I did find a few places online where it appears this shade is still available including, NailPolishDirect (UK based), but a lot of the places seem be for beauty professionals, so I’m not sure how easy it is to track this shade down.

What do you think about this Morgan Taylor shade? Have you started embracing the Fall vibes? Are you dreaming about Pumpkin Spice yet? Let me know down in the comments below!

A Fresh Floral

Happy Tuesday lovelies! Hope your week is off to a fantastic start. Today officially marks the last day of June, & even though I had a pretty quiet month blog wise, I’m back & going to end June with my absolute favourite thing to paint: floral. 🌸🌿 It’s actually been a hot minute since my last floral design, so I thought it was long overdue. (Plus flowers just make me so happy.)

For this manicure, the polishes I used were:

  • Base Coat: Essie Strong Start
  • Top Coat: Essie Gel Setter
  • Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Warm Regards
  • Essie Check Your Baggage
  • Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Malibu Peach
  • Sally Hansen MG Bourbon Babe
  • Sally Hansen MG Get Mod
  • Sally Hansen MG Black-y O
  • Essie Off Tropic
  • Essie First Timer
  • NailStuff.ca 7mm detail brush (COFFEE10 to save 10%)

I’m super obsessed with how these turned out — they actually remind me a bit of a design I did a few years ago that were inspired by a day planner of mine. But I think I love these even more! I absolutely adore rustic floral designs over something a little more realistic. Maybe because there is beauty in the imperfections. Either way, I think this design turned out so beautiful & I couldn’t stop staring at them. The peach & yellow just go so well with the red-ish base shade. I can’t get enough.

what do you think about this floral design? Are you more a fan of rustic or realistic floral? Let me know all your thoughts down in the comments below (& maybe share what your favourite real life flower is as well!)

FASHION FRIDAY — OOTD: Red For Hemophilia ♥️

Hello lovelies & Happy Friday! Today’s Fashion Friday post is dedicated to something special — April 17th is World Hemophilia Day, a fact brought to my attention by my friend Victoria (aka @hitchingsstitches on Instagram). Last year I did some beautiful red roses, but since it falls on Friday this year, I wanted to dedicated my OOTD.

For those who might not know, hemophilia is a bleeding disorder that personally affects both her beautiful little boys. As a Mom, I can’t image dealing with something so scary, so I’m always happy to show my support. In fact, myself & both kiddos are wearing red to show support today (& if I can I’ll try to get a picture of all three of us!)

Red Puff Sleeve Blouse from H&M (similar one from this season here). Dark Levi’s slimming skinny jean. Not Pictured: Black Flats

I bought this shirt almost two years ago on clearance at H&M, & absolutely fell in love with the dramatic sleeves. But honestly, I think I’ve actually worn it once… maybe. But after my post looking at old outfits of years past, I’ve kind of been inspired to pull out my more stand out pieces from my closet. I mean, that’s when I’m not wearing my usual social isolation rotation of sweats. Haha.

What do you think about this look? Are you wearing red today for World Hemophilia Day? If you haven’t thought about it, & have the chance, I definitely enough you to throw something red on (your favourite red shirt, your favourite red polish) & use the hashtag #redforhemophilia on Instagram if you post about! ♥️
